Thanks for this, I lived in Iowa one year and went to bed Friday night, woke up to 3 FEET of snow and thought it had had to have snowed heavily to do. Shows that if it's steady snow, it CAN get deep and not look like a whiteout.

I don't know if I'm more amazed at the amount of snow, or the fact that there was hardly any wind for so long to knock the snow off of the hand rails! In Kansas, once in a while we might get like 18" tops, but the wind is so harsh on the plains that it all gets blown into big snow drifts or into ditches on the sides of highways.
