  • lovely video,looks really nice.

  • Great qualityand content. Well done

  • I'm much rather ride this in the morning than the CTA red line!

  • I spent many summers in the IOM. My Grandparents lived in Ramsey and I was fortunate to see the last Steam trains calling there in 1967.

Outstanding video footage of a railway very close to my heart. I have never seen it portrayed in such splendour, well done Philip, great filming. A joy to watch.

Ivo Peters would have approved of your video!

  • I vited the IOM in 1975 with my parents and walked the disused trackbed to St Johns.

I went inside the carriage shed and it was full of old IOMR coaches.I wonder what happened to them?

  • @lewisner I was at the railway not too long ago and the carriages are in storage with some of the locos

  • @RobEyre777 Really? The same coaches after 35 years? Being as there was actually no track there they must have got them out with a lowloader.

  • @lewisner yeah they looked a bit rotten but i think they are going to restore them at some point, thats the thing i love about the IOM steam railway, they dont actually get rid of anything, they just store it for a rainy day

  • @RobEyre777 That's good news.So many NG and preserved railways have to scrabble about for old coach bodies that it would have been a shame if they were wasted.

  • What a contrast the new pw is compared to the rails which seemed to float up and down in the earth at Castletown station.

  • Beyer Peacock 2-4-0s are the most beautiful engines ive seen! Is there a set of plans or even castings for it as a model in 3½ or 5"?

  • That was great! If I hadn't have known earlier that this line was Narrow Gauge, I would've thought it was Standard!

  • this brings back many great childhood memories, i've got to get back there.

top class, thanks for your effort.

  • Brilliant sequence. Most enjoyable!

  • Awesome video 5*****

  • Beautifully filmed both of the trains and the Island. Is there a Part 2?

  • There will be eventually... when I get around to doing it! Haha! It will be mainly 'on-train' footage. =]

  • Oh and thanks by the way! =]

  • You're welcome! David sent me the link btw, he lives in the same student house as my daughter Holly in Bath and she told him how much I would like this video as I love the IOM and all the trains and trams.

  • Ah right, yes I met Holly when I stayed at Dave's the other day. I agree it's a wonderful place! The second part is up for your viewing. =]

  • Thanks for showing us that. I have often thought id like to see those fine little trains.

  • A most attractive video of a very high standard.

  • Sounds like you really enjoyed yourself on that scenic narrow gauge line. I havn't heard much about the line only seen some pictures of it. They have a nice set of locos over there.

  • I've been meaning to visit there for many years after watching the late Ivo Peters footage of the Island, but this is magnificent footage Phil, superbly taken and a sheer joy to watch...Thanks...5* Bob

  • What are charming little railway. I enjoyed that.

  • Very intresting video, thanks for sharing!

  • Blimey, it doesn't hang around does it ? That looked like 40 mph plus ! Great video of a line that doesn't get much coverage on Youtube

  • great vid 5 * and fav
