  • If you don't believe in the flying tea pot then you are doomed to an afterlife of horridly brewed coffee

  • @Xatasha6611 Now here is a comment that made me laugh! We need not agree with each other thus the point of sharing differing POV. And if when at the end of the discussion we still don't agree, then so be it. It's the throwing insults at each other that is the day to day problem we All Need to stop. You and I may disagree.. but really - who likes bad coffee?

    Keep a sense of humor.

But lose that chip on your shoulder.

  • @MrFlopJack The tea pot is not chipped!! Do not speak against the tea pot in that manner. I find that religious folk need to lose the chip on their shoulders since having faith often makes them think they are superior to anyone not of their faith. Would I get on your nerves if I always said things to you like. Have you had your tea today, may the tea not stain your teeth, may the tea grant you health and kept at it even after you said you don't like tea? Religious folk are like that to me

  • Thank you for mirroring with proper attribution.

    Rock on!

    TT

  • I love this video. Common sense and logic will someday help all of those poor sad people stuck in religions they are born into. Set them free. That we may actually work together to help fix the serious problems of the world like wars, cancers and ignorance.

  • @yashaouchan U are right - if people are simply blindly following the crowd, u r lost indeed, in many ways. But that is NOT Real Christianity, or Real Anything but a 5 yr olds version of Religion. & yes there are many 'old' children 2b seen. YET if the Bible is indeed True, Then YOU (along w/ every1) Need Only to "Seek The Truth" And U Shall Find It. So Y not Power Off, and try the simplest thing 1st? A quiet prayer, "I'm Knocking, R U There?" See? Simple. and no teapot - or crackpot, required.

  • @MrFlopJack I like how respectful you are trying to be but the thing is with ANYTHING in life you don't just trust people for saying something is true. They need to PROVE it. And none yet has or there would be only 1 religion.

  • @yashaouchan You Are Absolutely Right! People should not just TAKE what they are told as the Truth. It should go about as much of life does.. Someone 'we' respect tells us their Beliefs, their set of Truths and non-truths.It's up to us as individuals.

    1) Do we REALLY Want to know What The Truth Is? - For Once you know, you can't UN-know it.

    2) So ok, you Decide u wanna Know-Then OK! Sincerely Seek it.. Make it ur top priority. & if God IS real He'll Show YOU! You'll then know either way. :)

  • @MrFlopJack Lmfao stop trying hard to convert people in your beliefs and go back praying to your imaginary friends for fuck sake.

  • @Necr0Cys2topsY Hmm.. for "fk's sake". Wow. So if I follow what you are saying.. for The Sake of FK, I should not comment in forums or on videos that are on this very subject? That is the very point of these places. One places their POV and others theirs. That is a discussion. That is whats referred to as: The Exchange of Ideas.

This video successfully uses sarcastic to get across a POV. & in turn, I use the comment section for my comments.

He nor I are here to try and harm. What about you?

  • The teapot parable is actually ridiculous. There is no intelligent line of thought in contemplation of the more arcane mysteries of the universe and man's place in it that could possibly lead to an orbiting teapot. But there is a line of thought that leads to an at least plausible 'first cause', that of an intelligent, purposeful creator. There is no evidence, but that doesn't render the idea ridiculous. It may in fact not be true. But that is the only measure of the thing - a probable untruth.

  • @PaulP567 the difference is that theunicorn doesnt tell u that if u dont believe it exists then u can burn forever. Because of this we have to assume that belief in Jesus is based on fear of punishment or desire for reward and denial of the undesirable truth (i.e: If you lose someone u love u would rather believe theyre in heaven rather than believing u will never see them again). This is not real belief, a person who believes in for example the spaghetti monster, must genuinely believe it

  • @MamaMario13 Non-evidential, plausibility-based lines of thought do not lead to teapots and unicorns. To equate a line of thought that posits an 'other-worldy' creator with one that posits an orbiting teapot is fatuous. Russell's intention was to illuminate the notion of 'the burden of proof'. It was not to suggest that the idea of God is fatuous, only that the burden of proof lay with the believer. But the damage was done, i.e. belief in God is ridiculous.

  • @MamaMario13 Not all religious belief is founded on personal advantage vis-a-vis the patronage of God. For some it is the culmination of a process of thought that ends with "It makes sense to me". This subjective interpretation of a range of plausibilities does not of course equate with a universal truth. The next person might say "It makes no sense to me". Nevertheless the contemplation of these things is not an exercise in the absurd and to lump it with teapots and unicorns is disingenuous.

  • in the list of the good things that God gives there is NOTHING BAD, who in their right mind would want the opposite, i cannot comprehend. The mere mortal pee brains of the most intelligent human being are NOTHING in comparison to what God is, and the privilege of us having the opportunity of knowing this wonderful God is being demeaned and slurred by the likes of this pitifull man dawkins and many others, who bring darkness

  • Richard Dawkins is spreading darkness in this world. I stand now for the truth and live now in the light. God reveals much and directs second by second. Darkness reveals nothing but lies and further darkness, compounding the lost to be futher lost and without hope. Seek you first the kingdom of God and HIS righteousness and everything else will be given you. Light, love, peace, joy, hope, happiness, joy, eternal life, wisdom, knowlege, understanding, guidance, supernatural events, etc

  • @toiwin

you aint got no pancake mix!

  • @toiwin That's utter nonsense. All professor Dawkins is doing is asking people to think rationally. There's no other agenda here. The fact that his words may contradict religious faiths is in fact irrelevant. In essence the so called 'new atheism movement' is nothing more than a by product of rational thought. If rational thought threatens a stance then that stance needs to be re-evaluated.

  • @toiwin god=darkness. Remember the totalitarian theistic "Dark ages?"

  • @Neueregel God is Love and Light eternal, and darkness is without God eternally. Have you ever been in pitch blackness, alone ! your mind runs wild and you have fear, Fear is the opposite of Love. Perfect love casts out fear. One tiny candle can light a room, but a small amount of dark cannot make a light room dark. When you live a life in darkness, unable to see at all, then you rely on what you hear of others, this dawkins guy, is leading to darkness, that he himself is in.

  • @toiwin Technically, darkness=absence of light. Everything else you said is just Metaphoric Poetic Bollocks. Congrats. Pray for me, and I will think for you, since you seem to lack that function

  • @toiwin What neurosensor(s) are you using to 'sense' this god being? We have studied and discovered 5 major groups of sensors or receptors that humans can use to sense their world; thermoreceptors, mechanoreceptors, photoreceptors, pain receptors and free nerve endings. Pick one. After you do that, identify the type of energy that is used to make this receptor send an impulse to your brain or spinal cord.

  • @toiwin Actually God encourages fear in Him so he doesn't cast it out. The Catholic Church also encourages fear in God.

  • @1Lanavis1 you need to take another look, God is love Jesus is the light of the world, You may have never met them, so dont go on hearsay, just turn in your heart to the light and ask from the heart for revelation of his love andlight. be sure he will

  • @toiwin I think you may need to read your own Bible. He does atrocious acts and commands such acts to be done. He teaches that women should be subjugated to men and that unruly youths should be stoned to death by their parents. Not to mention that God's so-called loved is one of the most conditional loves that exist. If you don't know why just look up "Hell" and the fact that Heaven is supposed to comprised of people who worship God nonstop. A perfect being wouldn't need constant worship.

  • @1Lanavis1 look you have NO idea who he is, Find out personally then get back to me, but having said that you would not need to speak to me or to any one else if you knew him, he opens the heart and mind to UNDERSTANDING and WISDOM, but not to those who are so shallow as to not seek him in the first place. Your heart is hard ! you need it softened and beg for mercy from Yehweh ask for his son Jesus, he will show you, but not in your present state.

  • @toiwin I did seek him. I grew up brainwashed into believing in him. However, once I actually did research on him and read the Bible, I realized that there is no evidence of his existence and if he did exist, I would hate him b/c he has proven himself to be a demon innumerable times in the Bible.

  • @Neueregel Yeah, i remember the "Dark Ages" whit the creation of the universities, the preservation of ancient sources by monks, the birth of modern logic, the romanic and the gotic style, the emergency of modern empirism that would creat the renaissance and modern science. Yeah, terrible times for mankind...Just to think that in the XII century a english monk flew for about 200 meters using a glider...

  • @dragaoastro69 You forgotten mention the 1000-1500 years of Regression in civilisation. Without the malignant cancer of monotheistic Religions and the fake hope for god-gods, mankind should have Space bases on Moon and Mars at least since the 1400's-1500's. As a species we are ill, retarded, problematic and stagnant because of religion, but hopefully we will ban it in this Millenium.

  • @Neueregel Nice way to avoid my argument my friend. Are the examples that i gave you a "Regression in civilisation"? Were did you get the 1000-1500 years? Whats the mathematical logic on that? Space basis on Mars and the Moon??? How do you know that? We cannot use that type of reasoning in History. "As a species we are ill, retarded, problematic and stagnant because of religion" This seems eugenics mascarade by a suposed fight for reason and logic. That is a dangerous faith.

  • @dragaoastro69 1000-1500 is approximately the duration of Medieval times and the Dark Ages. Take your country Portugal for example. You were part of the Western Roman empire and since the fall of the Roman Empire 1st-2nd century C.E. and until the Age of Portuguese Exploration in 15th century, you were doing culturally NOTHING for 1200+ years.Christianity is to blame for the Crusades, which is a shame for human history. Regarding "Eugenics", NO. I just proposed to ban religion for a better world

  • @Neueregel Then again you ignored my arguments. Are the universities bad? Is the gotic style nothing culturally speaking? Is the preservation of ancient sources preserved by christians and christian culture evil??? To say that 1000 years of history were just a blunder in human progress is so extreme that is behond understanding. I dont understand this anglo saxonic hate against medieval times. Probably to much hollywood. By the way what cultural achievements did the romans did in their decadent

  • @dragaoastro69 1. Just because the universities were established in the 1200's, doesn't mean we should have a Dark Age mentality!! "{reservation of ancient sources by Christians???" ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Christians burned over 90 % of ancient texts (E.g. Burning of Alexandria Library in 4-rth cent. C.E. They brought distaster, looted and slaughtered thousands in the Crusades. They hanged witches ruthlessly. At least you made me have a good afternoon laugh. Thanks.

  • @Neueregel times? Whit the exception of a rebirth of north african economy and culture (already linked whit christianity) in the IV and V centuries, you have nothing to say for. You are mistaken the Low midle ages ( V century to XI ac) whit all of that period. And what midle ages are you talking about? The muslim midle ages? the bizantine midle ages? The western midle ages? If religion is bad for mankind why did the muslims in the XIII until the XII century ac made spectacular progress in the

  • @Neueregel fields of philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, medicine, agriculture...??? My country did produced "culture" in medieval times. Did you ever touched a medievel document of the XII century whit poetry? I did. "Christianity is to blame for the Crusades, which is a shame for human history." This is again a partial view. You cannot understand the crusades whitout understanding the islamic goal of world conquest. There is a mere causal effect. My country was conquered by muslims in the VIII

  • @Neueregel century ac, and it was reconquered (the Reconquista) by christians. Just a mere batle for land, power and faith. Whitout the aid requested by the bizantine emperor, the crusades in the east would never occured either. Religion, like everything else, can be used to great evil. I can also say " Atheism is to blame for the stalinistic murdering of many inocents, which is a shame for human history" Lets kill atheism "for a better world"...

  • @dragaoastro69 Then again, the usual tale.. atheism=stalinism or whatever. NO, IT'S NOT !! Atheism is a PHILOSOPHICAL stance and viewpoint. Stalinism was a POLITICAL viewpoint. Don't confuse between those 2. Religions divide and cause wars that why in an intelligent species' future they are probably becoming extinct. Religion is sinking down the drain, because it is unable to keep up with contemporary progress. The sooner you realise it, the better for you.

  • @Neueregel "Dark Age mentality!" You fail to understand medieval mentality, so i hope you will read some books on the period. Yet again you ignored my arguments which means you fail to prove that during 1000 years the medieval religious society has done nothing to human progress. The amount of importance to western society is priceless. The burning of the library of alexandria is equal to many other sad burnings and destruction of knowledge like the mongol destruction of bagdad (were they

  • @Neueregel christians???), the pillage of Constantinople by the turks or the invasion of iraque by us forces this century. To deduce that however that was comon practice by christians is just ignorant. No serious historian will agree whit you and the amount of evidence against your deluded idea is stagering. Christian scholars and monks were preserving western culture wile pagans and atheist were dancing the cumbaya on the woods! "Then again, the usual tale" history my friend cannot be changed

  • @dragaoastro69 "history my friend cannot be changed" I didn't say so. Look, Stalin was a ruthless vile dictator and his lack of religion has nothing to do with it. Most wars in history are caused due to ethnic tension between various sects or religions. It's nice that you mentioned Mongols, because Crusaders had the same barbaric instinct as them. And the MOST important, ARABS saved most of the ancient culture, not Christians. Arabs were not driven by Islam, because it was too early (~1000 CE)

  • @Neueregel by your agressive militant atheism. Stalin was a marxist and a leninist. It seems to me that Marx said that religion is the opium of the people and that Lenin said "Our program necessarily includes the propaganda of atheism"...Soviet russia WAS a atheist state and imposed that view and you can say what you want and lie because it will nor change what is written and done. Religion does nor have the monopoly of violence. the problem is that you are so looked in you close mind that you

  • @Neueregel forget something called reason and logic based on empiric evidence. Something that you often shout to religious people. You FAIL at all levels. Your welcome if i made you laugh!

  • @Neueregel Finally i think you are mistaken the idea of the abraamic God or the lack of it, for normal social, political and economic shifts in history. The fall of the ancient world to medieval times has nothing to do whit the rise of christianity for example.

  • I can just imagine that the Bible God was the FSM of its time; that the people who made it up were trying to make the same point as the followers of the FSM are now.

And then I think, "who's going to think we were serious in a few thousand years?"

  • Dear informer,

Is it so hard to accept that we, as human beings, have a great urge to prove everything we do not understand.

The biggest problem with a God is that it would be completely useless to believe in any of it if it would be proven.

But my simpleminded words might be not big enough for your minds to grasp.

    Yours truly

  • Excellent book. Richard Dawkins is a hero.

  • "I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."- Stephen Roberts

Hail logic, reason and the scientific method, a great way to get to the truth.

  • @saxmanchiro That's just a made up definition by Roberts, the fallacy of equivocation. Atheist means to hold atheism as true, which is the claim that there is no god.

  • @tiagotrinidad

No, atheism means not theism. Atheist means not theist.

  • @tiagotrinidad It's a quote, not a definition. I like the quote and use it to show theists that I just add one more god to my list of mythologic figures.

  • people always could and will differentiate between senseless fairy tales that serve only to tickle the imagination and thus seem fascinating, and an account involving ALLAH 's miracles, since the idea of god serves as an explanation for all the order and precision in the universe, with everything in it.

  • there has to be a rationale behind ppl accepting the idea of a china teapot or whatever between the sun and mars. regardless of what religious scripture it may be written in regardless of what age.

would it matter enough for them to believe in it ? what is the premise for someone to believe in it ?

this is a very weak argument against theism.

  • Happy Birthday Bertrand Russel! ...tomorrow

  • I agree with all but his last point. An atheist is someone who thinks the statement "there is a god" or "there are gods" to be false. One is not an atheist toward a particular god.

  • There is grandeur in Mr Dawkins' reasoning. Marvelous!

  • FSM was just one of the great prophets for the Wholey Food of Honey (blessed BEE the wholey food). That is the true dinner plate. You can't deny that the wholey beekeeper who made it up... I mean received it was illiterate (well, at one time in life) and received a mouthful from Honey itself. Please rethink your FSM ways and fill your mouth with the sweet nectar from the bees. Oh, if you hear anything from the sugar followers tell me, cause I have a bee'had on their heads.

  • Thanks for sharing this. Can never have enough of Dawkins' good sense.
