I'm looking for a Delay that goes up to something like 4 seconds, yeah really long, but I want to practice a lot with it and be able to hear the individual chords clearly at least 3 times. Anyone know what I'd need?
@ProGuitarShopDemos hey do you guys remember ibanez making an analog pedal that was a lil bigger than this and black? if so what kind exactly was it...i loved it....or does this have the same ciruitry....it was extrememly warm delay
@SirPage90 Hey there, if you're looking for an analog delay I highly recommend the Malekko Ekko 616 pedal...it's the same price as the carbon copy ($150), but it has even more controls (variable modulation speed & depth). Plus it has a high-end buffer (for counteracting tone suck) and it just sounds great overall. Progutiarshop has a great review of it (of course). Also, if you're into experimental guitar tones, there is a "lofi" version of the Malekko delay. Good luck with your delay search!
tonights the we got the truck, goin down town gonna beat up drunks! your turn to drive, ill bring the BEER, its a late night shift. NO ONE TO FEAR!.... good one man. police truck isone of the best use's for delay
Hey I just got one of these pedals and they sound awesome. I just need some input where you would put the settings for van halen kind of solos. I'm guessing closer to the reverbish function? Thanks
I have this pedal, and I like it a lot. It works really good for longer delay time. The feedback sort of covers the tone up a little bit, but in certain conditions that's really cool.
I am in the market for an Analogue delay pedal, and is this the best on the market for a reasonable price? I was originally thinking of the Carbon Copy, but something about this gives me a good vibe. Please reply.
@THECLAYSTER If you haven't already bought one i would recommend the Biyang AD-10, it has a much longer delay time than this, up to 1100ms and if you like the pink then you're also in luck! they're really cheap about £40 on ebay
I already own a Boss DD-20 which does this and so much more ... but a smaller pedal for a more singular purpose might seem nice (one day, many dollars later :)
@Playerc0 - You should focus on the sound and learn to accept the color. Painting it would make you seem insecure. It's really more of a purple anyway : )
@ProGuitarShopDemos I <3 you guys. Good response to a silly statement. Worry about learning to play, finding your sound and discovering who you are as a musician. If you're concerned about the colour of the pedal, you should get into modelling, not rock and roll.
well, it is analog, but sound to me like he is also going through a slightly dirty sounding clean channel and pushing it, so the clean signal has a little drive, the delay is just doubling that into the amp.
it does sound a bit like that, i think it because his amp is a bit dirty and hes running it right into the amp which is distorting the delay. i run mine in the effects loop and the delays arent distorted like that. not sure why you would run a delay right into a dirty amp, but i think thats whats going on.
@radkins80 - Yep, the amp's a bit dirty and we're running it straight in, for two reasons: 1) We like it, and 2) A lot of people, especially people who dig analog delays, play vintage amps with no effects loop. Straight in to a kinda dirty tube amp is a classic tone found on more records than I can count.
@ProGuitarShopDemos Does this add any color or slight gain to the signal when u turn the mix up? I've heard it does, and I would actually like that cus there's nothing wrong with more grit.
The ideal thing is to have the both on your pedal set. money for only one and play rock? buy a digital. It depends on the predominant music style you play.
its pretty much a consensus that analog delay pedals sound a lot better than digital. digital pedals basically take the signal and break it down and run it through a computer as a digital signal (1s and 0s) and then process it into a sound signal again. analog pedals take the electrical signal from your guitar and run it through an analog circuit to change the sound. theyre more expensive but they tend to sound way better.
that isn't true. Some people prefer the sharper sound and much longer delay time of digital pedals. I personally like a good mix of the warmth of analog and the bite of digital. The DD-3 is good at that. AD-9 sounds pretty nice but the max delay is short.
Besides the audio quality (i think analog doesn't just sound 'better') digital delays offer longer delay times. Analog delays can never offer more than 300ms more or less, digital ones can offer 3 sec delay time
Actually Malekko has analog delay pedals that do 600 ms and even one that does 900ms. Wether or not analog or digital delays 'sound better' is really up to the player and the style of music. If you want a darker, vintage/indie vibe from your delays, go analog. If you want bright, clean, Edge style delays, go digital. But that's just speaking generally.
@StefanPriceUK Have u used one? I chose the Malekko 616 over the CC and now Im wondering cus in demos the CC's repeats sound more faint and a tad chewier, but the 616 is more like a tape delay with respect to the sound of the repeats.
DEAD KENNEDYS! Andy got great tast of music i think:D In every one of your great rewievs I get surprised over which rate of songs you demo the pedals with.
Can't wait to check out electro harmonix's memory boy. about time they came out with a stream lined version of the memory man. hopefully they don't charge near the same price.
nice classic 50's sounding pedal, i'm curious to see what it can do. but for sum reason i favor MXR's carbon copy analog delay pedal more and it's the same price, then again i'm not a blues/country/oldies player, i'm more of alternative modern rock and that's what carbon copy is for.
True bypass means that when the pedal is turned off, the circuit is completely bypassed, making it as if there was no pedal plugged in. In a non true bypass pedal the sound can be muddied or the tone deteriorated, so true bypass is good because it can maintain your guitar's tone. However, with a true bypass pedal the output can jump becasue there is a reduction in cable length when the pedal is on or off.
Too bad you didn't demo the dual output (dry and delayed) feature. Sounds like you're playing in a HUGE room even though you could be in a small bedroom. Need two amps though set apart. Awesome effect. Great pedal.
i own 1 of these and ive owned LOTS of others, but this has by far the most personality. true that it doesnt range as far as a digital version, but tha character of each little twist of each knob sets a color of its own for multiple combo's! LOVE IT!
