But 'acting' is a totally different art. An excellent actor indeed immerses himself in his role, like do Daniel Day-Lewis, Heath Ledger, Pacino, De Niro and so on. Or our own Nasruddin Shah, Irfan Khan, Anupam Kher, Nana Patekar, Mohan Lal, etc.
As for SRK, one can hardly differentiate between his Asoka and the character in DDLJ.

See Raj Kumar Hirani's style of directing. 3 idiots, is highest grossing film in history because of the portray of characters not personality of heroes or heroine. @anoopmknair - Yaa, I think you are very correct. Saharukh can play only one type of character, that is SAHARUKH. He don't want to change hes personalty anyway, even in acting. He has charming face and good personality, so that he thinks as its sufficient for acting. He should understand the art form. But directors take advantages of his popularity and personality and give him different roles, only for commercial purpose.He plays all roles almost equally. So acting part is ZERO.

Shah Rukh is probably one of the most charismatic men in the country.
But 'acting' is a totally different art. An excellent actor indeed immerses himself in his role, like do Daniel Day-Lewis, Heath Ledger, Pacino, De Niro and so on. Or our own Nasruddin Shah, Irfan Khan, Anupam Kher, Nana Patekar, Mohan Lal, etc.
As for SRK, one can hardly differentiate between his Asoka and the character in DDLJ.

@iron1223 - Ya, no one can 100% connect to audience. But one should try as much as possible. But this guy tries not so much compared to Amir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Nana Patekar etc.
For example, see the role of Gandhi by Ben Kingsley. Kingsley spent so many months to understand the personality of Gandhi, for example, how me moves, seats, walk, talks. And the way he performed, it blew away everyone's mind. Every body remember Gandhi after seeing that movie.

See Raj Kumar Hirani's style of directing. 3 idiots, is highest grossing film in history because of the portray of characters not personality of heroes or heroine. But he is succeeding, because in India the film industry put more importance on marketing and advertisement, rather than really passing and message to audience. People still want to see good characters on the screen, provided the film should have something new breakthrough. If a film which becomes hit due to the personality of hero, then it is remembered for a short period of time. But if it become hit due to its acting and characters, it blow away audience mind forever. Very few directors do this kind of films, but they always choose real actors.

@anoopmknair - Yaa, I think you are very correct. Saharukh can play only one type of character, that is SAHARUKH. He don't want to change hes personalty anyway, even in acting. He has charming face and good personality, so that he thinks as its sufficient for acting. He should understand the art form. But directors take advantages of his popularity and personality and give him different roles, only for commercial purpose.He plays all roles almost equally. So acting part is ZERO.

See, I know that Shahrukh is a star and he does appeal to the masses who go to the theatres leaving their brains behind at home (that is even if they have one at all), spend 2-3 hours laughing at his antics eating popcorn. Shahrukh is usually too good in interviews and I wish he really stomped over karan. But unfortunately he got too defensive and was totally scrambled and not focused.
Karan on the other hand is a total loser and he just bullshits with words. His conversation carries no real purpose.

Why is Karan in a hurry ? There is no hard and fast rule that you got to reply quick . There is no battle of wits here. Karan can push the guest to a corner and quote and requote wot was said or not said ..SRK really did well .. way to go
