  • google this: 'blu ray vs hd dvd fact vs fiction home theater blog'

then click into the resulted website, blu ray is over hyped.

  • blu-ray suck

  • Not that many people are buying movies these days. Blu ray is really really fucking good, its just that redbox and netflix are on top. DVD rentals and sales surpass blu ray so much and now the future is looking like downloading movies is the norm which according to the industry is coming up pretty strong. Blu ray is really almost dead. Its hard to notice the difference between a new dvd and a blu ray, also its hard to notice with lossless codecs too now.

  • Yeah right that’s why I have found the same colour artefact issue that are on most DVD titles the same as on Bluray! = EPIC FAIL FOR PICTURE!

Next up the film mixes and I don’t give a scum cunt rats fuck if its lossless! The films mostly DOLBY ones are not being fucking converted to dtsHDMA = EPIC FUCKING CUNT FUCK FAIL!

I will never ever buy another fucking BLURAY PIECE OF SHIT EVER! FUCK STAR WARS ON BLURAY AS WELL!

  • why don't u people shut up and admit that blu-ray has the best quality at the moment.

u all know it but people are jealous or something.

Even a 4 years old child can make the difference and admit that the B-ray looks better.....just compare it.

My movies in B-ray format look stunning, a quality that HD-DVD never had.

And when i say compare , i mean buy an original b-ray and try it on a full HD TV, not some lame internet copy.

People talk shit but neve tried.

  • Blu ray sucks for me. The Motion for BLU RAY, Its bad and it looks like a fake animation. So i think HD DVD its better

  • Blu-Ray Rocks. The Pixar movies look so awsaome.

  • BLU-RAY IS AWESOME

  • You should take this video down. It's no longer relevant.

  • Death to blu-ray! It sucks! NetFlix and AppleTV will murder it.

  • This formats days are numbered. I still have a hell of a time believing BD has a faster adoption rate than dvds. How can that be with only a less than 20% install base in the market. The average consumer wants more than a crapload of useless extra features and a prettier picture. They are looking for better storage and convenience. I don't want another format taking up more self space than I aready have.

  • The real reason Sony won the format wars is because they convinced the studios that blu-ray was copy protection pirate proof. Plus the studios needed a format because dvd sales were slipping and felt digital distribution is still to slow with current broadband technology. I personally am happy with dvd and rather wait till some improvements in broadband and topboxs advance far beyond current tech.

  • BLU RAY RULES!!!!!!!!!

  • Blu-ray is expensive and hard to make. That's why normal DVD format is still out-selling Blu-ray.

  • Yes, Blu-Ray has HD Resolution/Sound, but that alone doesn`t do it. One needs a 1080p screen with surround sound speaker setup. Furthermore. HD DVD may not be able to hold more than Blu-Ray, but it has more than enough storage capacity to fit EVERYTHING that one would want to put on the DVD SPecial features in HD resolution. Blu-Ray is better, but not for the reasons you mentioned. Blu-Ray is also slower than HD DVD as well as a waste of space for a film and should be used only for gaming.

  • idk i have ps3 i play all of them

  • the day that a company will care about the people is when monkeys will fly. blu-rays the shittt

  • That is why Sony gave the people the choice to get a BLUE RAY cheaper in a PS3. Why bother getting a blu ray player if you can play games, watch blu ray movies, browse the internet, etc. etc. etc. also ps3 is also considered a PC. ALL THAT FOR 600 DOLLARS wow WHAT A DEAL. SONY is the only COMPANY THAT CARES ABOUT THE PEOPLE. Fact: DID YOU KNOW THAT PS3 COST MORE TO BUILD with THE SUPPLIES AND MATERIALS THAN THE RETAIL PRICE.

  • Bullshit the PS3 is a computer... since when could you run applications on it such as photoshop... A web browser... wow i think i could make a better argument saying that the nintendo DS is more like a computer

  • are u serious they are ready came out with a OS system for PS3 (linux) so yea it is possible. You dont know because you dont have a PS3.

  • I run photoshop by using linux, dumbass

  • sony dosn't care about the customers trust me try getting them to fix your ps3 and you will know what bad customer service is well at least it is better than microsoft

  • Flop? Blu-ray IS already considered the main format for the next generation. HD-DVD has been dead quite some time now (look it up).

In other words, Blu-ray will replace DVD the way DVD replaced VHS.

  • IN YOUR FACE blu-ray has taken over :P

  • not for long

  • This video didn't really seem to explain anything. It reminds me of the commercials that attempt to brag about the crazy quality of Blu-Ray (or HD-DVD for that matter) is, but the commercials air in standard 480i. It must be tough to display the increased quality when the commercial is nothing beyond DVD quality anyways. As for the extra "hours" that Blu-Ray offers, how does that help just an everyday movie? Movies don't even reach that long typically..maybe documentaries though.

  • Wow, thanks for confirming to me that regular DVDs are older.

  • Well I own an LG GGC-H20L Super Multi Blue drive in my computer, that plays both Blu-ray and HD-DVD in the same drive.

Personally I don't see that much difference between HD-DVD and BD to be honest other than BD being able to hold 20 GB more than HDDVD. But the picture and the sound on both formats are absolute amazing, so crisp and detailed. :)

  • can people please only comment if you own a blu ray player not a ps3!

hello hello anyone no anyone no

    thats cuz there shit

  • I have both, I personally think the Blu ray player is better then the PS3 in movie play back.

  • really?Why is that?

  • I think it runs faster. Its specific to the movies. Also I really think the UI on my player is far superior to the PS3's.

  • Because PS3 is pretty much the only Blu-Ray player known to the masses it seems.

  • lol who in the name of hell actualy watches the bonus features? bluray has won already the only people on this siding with hd dvd are the suckers that bought the player without doing research.

  • TOSHIBA= Soon to be the ONLY one making HDDVD's. Warner switched. And Microsoft and Panasonic are just about too.

  • I got my new HDDVD player and the movie 300 is great on it. I got some scenery movies like Planet Earth for blu-ray and an Italian one for HDDVD. Honestly to me, I like having both, but then again, for what.?

  • Blu ray has won, end of story. MUCH more storage space, newer and better tech, more resistant to scratches and all the big studios backing it. PS3 has helped (and will do so in making it a mainstream standard) win this war and overall its what the people want.

  • I got a new 57" LCD 1080p television, and I love the way blu-ray looks on it from a ps3. I'm getting a cheap HDDVD player and some HDDVDs to see the difference between them. I honestly think that blu-ray is going to be better because of the facts, but I can't wait to see.

  • I doubt you will notice a difference at this stage, but in a couple of years I think blu ray will look better

  • Do you know what kind of discs Xbox 360 uses? Are they DVD, or HD DVD, or some other kind of disc?

  • I think its just DVD but im not sure

  • Oh thanks a lot.

  • Yeah a 360 uses a HDDVD disk. But only has 8GB's of space. A PS3 Blu Ray disk can hold up to 50GB's. 4 times the space of an HDDVD.

  • Wrong,360 uses DVD9 for all of there games.(still 8GB)

  • ...

  • No, the 360 uses standard DVDs.

  • Correction Tendonut, enhanced DVDs that are called DVD9. But anyway they are still DVDs a matter of what. Bluray is an next generation DVD which has totally new technology built in to it.

  • True, but what does Blu-Ray actually do for gaming? So far, it just seems to encourage sloppy/no compression (MGS4) or excruciatingly long load times.

  • It can do alot for gaming, and have you even played a PS3 game. I played tons and I'm enjoying it so much on my HDTV. What load times are you talking about? Also every PS3 games have uncompressed audio, and high defination video. It offers alot concerning storing data when it comes to games. Programming, audio, graphics, animations, online capabilities, etcera. People who complain about PS3 games need to get a life in my opinion. I'm enjoying my PS3 and the PSN. So is my family as well.

  • See, NONE of that was because of Blu-ray. You can do HDTV gaming on DVD (PC has been doing it for years, even with just CD games), and uncompressed audio is pointless when you have lossless compression such as FLAC (my music compression method of choice). Sony was able to spin the addition of Blu-Ray to make it sound like it benefited the PS3 owners instead of inflating the price to force a movie format. The PS3 is fine, but Blu-Ray does nothing for gaming. I'm a programmer, so I can say this.

  • I'm a programmer as well. In training. I bought my PS3 for high defination purposes. Especially since most of favorite game developers develop for the PS3 now. Uncompressed audio is a beautiful thing, especially if you want more of an movie experience in your home. Buts thats okay if you dont like it. Blu-Ray does wonders for games dude. You just have to have face it, have you played a PS3 game?

  • Uncompressed audio is just straight up wasted space when you have lossless compression. Lossless = No loss in quality, but drastic decrease in file size. Even Blu-Ray movies use compression. The only time someone would need to use uncompressed audio is if you are limited with your processing power..and unless Sony is pulling our chain, I'm sure the PS3 has plenty of processing power to spare. For movies, Blu-Ray rocks, but for games, it's a gimmick. You are following hype and nothing more.

  • DTS HD Master Audio is LOSSLESS as is Dolby TRUE HD, but you need to buy a receiver or amplifier which can DECODE those formats.

Lossless sound DOES sound a heck of a lot better.

  • You are entirely correct. So many professional websites are confused as to why MGS4 is taking up so much space with audio. No previous game came even close to touching 50GB in size, so the question remains..why is Konami insisting on using uncompressed audio with MGS4? As you said, Lossless compression sounds amazing, so why artificially bloat the game to a whopping 50GB? If the game could be knocked down to 8-10GB or so (like every other game), why spend extra to use up a full blu-ray disc?

  • warner announced they will be going blu-ray exclusive. goodbye hd-dud. the look and sound of defeat.

  • bluray is winning, actually.

  • i like hd dvd because

    1. its cheaper

    2. hd dvd has almost the exact same picture quality as blue-ray

    3. whose gonna use 10 extra gigabites for blue ray

    4. a lot of hd dvd movies come with an hd dvd and dvd combo format

  • But it's not cheaper though. The playstation 3 costs $400 and has a bluray player built in.

  • Yez Blu Ray is better, yez Blu Ray got more storage !!

But HD-DVD will probably win becouse you American people are fucking cooksucking tards,

that rather focus on the brands instead of quality..

Seing comments like "omg sony suck and so do BD"

Makes me wanna join Al Quadya =\

Blu Ray got more storage = It´s better !!

Long movies like the Lotr trioligy won´t work on HD-DVD they will have to cut down the quality to make it fit in those pitful 30 gb..

  • It seems to me that hd dvd will take over since everybody knows or uses the DVD format to watch movies. Also, the fact that most know what HD stands for.. it just makes since.. go around and ask whats "blue-ray" to random people.. bet they wont know.

  • i dont actually want to buy either, im fine with dvd, it look good enough and is alot better than VHS

  • sony is just trying to make its money back for the ps3. i still haven't decides what one is better. i will most likely getting a HD Dvd player because

    1) heroes season 1 is not on blue ray

    2) i can live with out Disney movies

    4) all the good movies are produced by Fox and lucus films and universal

i think that both blur ray and HD Dvd are going to looses it is the company's in japan could not deside on one universals player so they made two

  • Fox is not on HD DUD dumb ass!

  • blu ray is just another way of sony trying another

failed project heres a few examples of how dumb sony is

    1. beta max vs vhs winner VHS

    2.DS VS PSP WINNER DS

    3. PSP UMD MOVIES VS DVD WINNER DVD

4.PS3 VS WII VS 360 WINNER 360 AND WII

    AND ONE IN THE FUTURE

    5. BLURAY VS HD DVD WINNER HD DVD

    DONE DEAL SONY IS CRFAP

  • the UMD wasnt supposed to rival the DVD. and i suppose on the next XBOX your going to have that damned paper clip. "Hey! it looks like you have a ring of death!"

  • I have a Blue Ray and HD DVD player, and honestly I like the HD DVD better. I have done several side by side comparisons and HD DVD looks slightly better in some scenes. Don't get me wrong, they are both wonderful looking, but due to HD DVD's cheaper production costs, players being cheaper than Blu-Ray, the porn industry choosing HD DVD over Blu-Ray, and Paramount and Dreamworks leaving Blu-Ray, I think HD DVD has the upper advantage. Don't forget the double sided discs.

  • The only thing this video ever states the main advantage of Blu-ray over HD-DVD is it has more capacity. How many movies will ever fill up 25GB of space on a Blu Ray anyways?

  • i know seriously! i have an hd dvd player and i freakin love it!

  • ITS Hi Def Bluray now just listen to the commercial

  • Blu ray = ppl who likes 1st class power ps3

Hd dvd = ppl who is low key and doesnt really care about Such much Power 360

  • Blu-ray has a good headstart, but in the foreseeable future, hd-dvd will surge ahead. Blu-ray manufactoring costs aren't going to drop much this year. Current dvd manufactors can simply upgrade at a low cost and produce hd-dvds where as with blu-ray you need to completely rebuild your manufactoring line. HD-DVD > Blu-ray for company friendliness and ultimately consumer friendlyness (note the name hd-D V D), so i can see blu-ray going down within the next few years.

  • 50 gb isn't needed, a 3 hour full 1080p movie takes up almost 20 gb of space. Who the hell is gonna have a 7.5 hour movie?? Sure you can fit more tv episodes and crap like that onto one disc, but in all i don't think consumers really care that much. Consumers care about one thing, cost, and when we see a 150 dollar hd dvd player this holiday, wal-mart will drop blu-ray and sell hd-dvd players just to draw people in. HD-dvd actually will probably have blu-ray by the balls this holiday season.

  • Also, blu-ray may be techologically advanced as opposed to hd-dvd, but who wants a company that would control everything about blu-ray(sony). They control the rights to blu-ray, and on top of that they have a major movie studio(controlling content), and blu-ray for manufactorers almost doubles the cost of hd-dvd. Also, i love how blu-ray supporters boast about 50gb of storage.

  • Well noone wanting hd-dvd is gonna change my friend. Paramount just recently announced it is going hd-dvd exclusive. SO that means you wont get your blades of glory, shrek the third, or transformers on blu-ray. All those movies made 1.4 billion in box office revenue. Also, sony has banned porn from blu-ray. Porn was a huge deciding factor in the beta-max vs vhs wars. Sony apparently doesn't learn.

  • look at the sales HD DVD wins

  • Blu-ray outsells HD-DVD 5 to 1. Blockbuster has stopped carrying HD-DVD because no one wants it.

  • Hmm, Lord of the rings extended pops into mind!

  • HD DVD does not have as much storage space as Blu-ray, but what movies take up 50 Gigs of space?

  • A single layer has 25 GB, that is enough for a movie.

The dual layer 50 GB can be used to back up your computer.

  • freakin fanbois won't accept that HD-DUD is shit

  • who gives a rat's ass? hd dvd may hold haft the shit, but it's also half the damn price! fuck blu ray.

  • watch my ps3 video

  • yeah and the most ridiculously expensive, like imma pay 60 bucks for "click"

  • Starz Home Entertainment by their former name, Anchor Bay, who own rights to over 600 movies and TV shows, including many horror classics like 'Evil Dead' and the 'Hellraiser' and 'Halloween' series.

Starz has partnered with 20th Century Home Entertainment in the past, so it would not be unlikely that the partnership will continue with Blu-ray.

  • so much vhs

  • this song is fucken tyte

  • blu ray is winning over hddvd reviewers say blu ray will be the domonince in 2008 go PLAYSTATION 3 sony u rock

  • Watch my video, "how blu-ray is superior". It is not what you think it is, it instead says why blu-ray is NOT superior. Thanks. Leave your opinion.

  • I am a sony fan + bluray, but that proved nothing?

  • I agree! Have a PS3, love BluRay. But that vid is too inaccurate. Get the facts then come back...

  • what is this song

  • lol i think this is total paid for sony viral marketing in the comments, haha who needs more than 6 hours of video content for a fucking movie anyway, hd-dvd can provide 6 no problem with truhd sound on top of that.

  • HD DVD is going to lose. Just the statistics on dvdempire and click on high def section.

  • You forgot to mention the studio backing, bluray has almost everyone backing them sans Universal. Universal is the only studio exclusively backing HDDVD, everyone else is behind bluray.

Digital distribution is not going to kill these formats, unless you download a 50 Gigabyte movie to watch, it is not as good as either format. If you think that you are really downloading HD content off the internet in a 2Gb file, you are an idiot.

  • ur totaly right dude.

  • lol u lose

  • ok fine fine fine

blu ray is a BAMF in memory but ya gotta like the U-control in HD DVD

  • ok wel if more memory makes everything better than when toshiba releases the 45 gig HD DVD shouldnt that be just as "good" as blu ray

  • One would think so but there is a 100gig blueray on the way.

  • so much for vhs

  • DVD = 345,600 Pixeles

    BLU-RAY DISC = 2,073,600 Pixeles 24/60p

This is the Realy FULL HS 1080p

  • I thought DVDs were pretty good. I didn't have a problem with DVDs, I didn't complain about the sound and resolution, so why the hell would I buy a whole new player just for that. What a stupid improvement for so much money. Technology advances suck ass right now. Everyone is focusing on making everything look sharper. I have an idea, why don't people just make their product better.

  • A 100 gig Blu-ray is on its way. Just think. The entire Lord of the Rings trilogy on one disk. How bad ass would that be. "One blu ray disk to rule them all."

  • i'll put money on it they wont release it all on one disc, so they can charge you more money. a movie is 2 hours long if that, which can be stored in full HD using less than 10 GB. whats that point in having 50 GB if 40 GB of the disc is blank?

  • It will never happen. Sony would rather charge you $25 3 times instead of giving you a discounted price for all 3 movies on 1 disc. Sony doesn't give good deals they CHARGE!

  • Of coarse they would never put a discount on such an offer. In fact it would be incredibly expensive. Probably far more than buying the three discs separately. You have to look at what you would be getting though. All three movies on one disc, that's nice. Then you have to put in the fact that they all have 1080P HD and 7.1 surround sound and let's not forget that a blu-ray disc is incredibly durable disc meaning my purchase will be safe for years to come.

  • The convenience of it would definitely be great but the same thing could also be done on an HD-DVD. Imagine not long from now when they expand on the combo format having The Lord of the Rings trilogy on HD on one side of the disc then the regular format on the other side ;)

  • HD will learn to cram alot more space on their discs just as Blue Ray will which is why we should not worry about which format has more GB rather which format is cheaper for US! reminds me of the megapixel battle not too long ago with digicams.

  • The blue ray menus flow better. You can access of content through Java. Which is an incredible way to navigate a disc. Why isn't HDDVD doing that? This is one of the reasons the powerhouse that is disney signed with blue ray.

  • Really? I thought the same of HD-DVD. I have both players by the way (360 add on and PS3). I just firmly believe that HD-DVD will win because it's a cheaper format. I hate to bring up an age old topic but HD does have the porn industry for support........

  • Porn may have been a key player with beta vs. VHS but the internet didn't exist. It's far easier and cheaper to quench sexual desires via internet than a trip out to the adult video store and it's more profitable for the porn industry. That's why it porn isn't a factor.

  • Porn topic does lead one to contemplate the need for the existence of a larger disk format. If one is selected the chances are it wont be around for to long. Any day now the government will switch broadcasting to HD. The internet will eventually go along with it. All is needed is the bandwidth. When this begins disks wont is needed. Full 1080P movies will be streamed directly to your HD television.

  • The only problem is people like to own things that are confined and safe. That's the only hope a disk format has. With blue ray out selling HD-DVD 2 to 1 allowing it to own 70% of the market and the $300 blue ray players beginning to enter the market it would appear Blue ray has the upper hand at the moment

  • Don't be suprised if this format battle kills both Blue-Ray and HD-DVD. Download on demand and other forms of digital downloads are most likely the future eventhough I am one of those people that would rather own my movie on a disc than stored on a hardrive. I don't think Blue-Ray is outselling HD-DVD by your amount. do you have a reliable source for that?

  • Check out HighDef Digest dot com, I can't post the links in comments.

  • "gay"

way to fag up the internet.

  • uuhh yeah i have a question

how does blu ray beat HD DVD

i mean yeah it has more memory but who is gonna stay home watching the special features over and over and over all day?

  • more 'memory' = better allocation space for quality, also the prices will drop for end-users who use them for storing more data. opting for blu-ray

  • Blu ray player is to expensive--- ill guess ill get a HD DvD player instead.

  • Th cheapest blu ray player right now is the PS3 which costs 600$

  • Fuck HD-DVD and fuck Blu-Ray, Im staying clear away from all this format war bullshit. If they weren't so fucking arrogant they would have merged their technologies into one format and call it a truss. Think about the consumers for fuck sakes, Im sticking with normal DVD's for now until one succeeds the other. Thats my logical choice. Old school my ass canlasboy.

  • LG and SamSung two of the most powerful companies who support blue-ray are now creating machines that can play both HD DVD and BLue-Ray i geuss there coming over to HD DVD now

  • bd is beating hd dvd by a ratio of 7:3

  • Sony has products in nearly every aspect of our television, audio, and format viewing experience, so with that said, if sony is the only choice, what reason is there for them to innovate. HD DVD is in my opinion the better of the two.

  • Blu-ray allows high bitrates than HD-DVDs, that alone makes them better for video.

  • Wow, was this video informative. Storage capacity is not a major issue in this new video format war as both of these can hold nearly as much content as each other. HD DVD contain three layers where as Blu Ray can only contain two. Although Blu Ray has a bit more disc space in the end, they are both too close for that to be a true benefit for blu ray. I have read about this before, and a good point was made.

  • Get your facts straight before posting. HD DVDs only hold 15gigs per layer with a max of 3 layers equaling 45 gigs total. Bly-ray discs have a max of 8 layers! 8 layers at 25gigs per layer equals a total of 200gigs per blu-ray disc. And since blu-ray started out with duel layer the blu-ray drives only need firmware updates telling them how to read/write to the other layers.

  • the ps3 is the ultimate blueray player

    forget the 360 hd drive

90% of all video factorys worldwide will make blueray disks

    so BD wins

  • I do support blu-ray over HDDVD because of all that stuff but that video just ain't very good at promoting the facts

  • In a more polite way...I agree with zomadore2342 somewhat. However just so people know...Blu Ray also plays DVD's so its not that bad! You dont HAVE to buy you're collection back with Blu Ray!

Just a question to anyone who knows...If Blu Ray or HD DVD dose take over DVD's, Will the movie industry only sell Blu Ray or HD DVD or are we gonna have to buy only the movies that Blu Ray or HD supports? Thats the only thing that worries me is if I buy a Blu Ray, half the movies will be for HD DVD!

  • Yeah but you need a big ass wide screen TV to show the quality...Guess the little guy gets shit on again!

  • i am a blu ray supporter but i want to say that they could easily make a dual layer hddvd if they needed more space. blu ray could as well. and blu ray is more scratch resistant than hddvd.

  • no is not.

  • i just heard that the HDDVD drive on the 360 could play dvds in HD. I think blu ray does the same

  • WHAT A SCAM...Anybody who belives this bull crap is just plane gullible! They are totally ruining the movie experiance! They just brought us to DVD's...now there trying to make movies like the Video game industry...USE YOUR BRAINS!

Its all money Making SCAMS...In another few years they'll come out with something else and clame that its better...I think the best thing to do is stick to DVD's... Your just gonna end up paying 100s of dollars for that movie collection you just rebuilt.

  • dude quit being old school.

  • Not only does Blue-Ray discs have more memory and better def, it can withstand scratches or damage better. A steel wool couldn't damage it.

  • I hate to burst your bubble. But ALL blu-ray players are backwards compatible with CDs and DVDs. So you cna start buying all of your new movies in blu-ray

  • u made me read dat !!

  • This conversation is worthless because movie and game studios will not put more money and effort into blu-ray products than they do with HDDVD products, because ultimately they will sell for the same price. Bottom line: for movies, it makes no difference. For games, go with what you like better. Only makes a difference with data storage, where blu-ray obviously has the advantage.

  • Just buy the new LG HYBRID BLU-RAY HD-DVD PLAYER BOTH WAYS.

  • Dumb clip. I've never seen ANYONE compare a standard DVD to Bluray. And as a previous poster said, HDDVD now has 51GB discs coming soon(not that the extra space is necessary or anything). Plus Bluray menus and extra features can't hold a candle to HDDVD!

  • it's pretty obvious blu-ray is going to win this war though considering the number of ps3's outsell the number of hd dvd drives for the 360. On top of that the number of companies supporting bluray is much more than hd dvd. Capacity or quality isn't the matter in this war, it's about the public image and publicity.

  • check the wiki, there is a 200GB blu-ray disc in the works, and blu-ray transfers data much faster than HD-DVD... <<check it out for yourself the transfer rate is what matters

  • I know that I have to buy the extra drive for $200. Once I bought that then my Xbox 360 costs the same as the PS3, so I'm waiting for a price drop.

I have no intention of ever getting a PS3 or a Blu-Ray player, but I will get an HD-DVD drive in the near future.

  • Blu-ray is better, but do I need that extra space?

    Im comparing it to HD-DVD.

  • i really dont understand xbox fans, they say that normal dvd is better than bluray!

is like say: a earthworm is more powerfull than a cat.

bluray has 50gb capasity, dvd has 5gb.

its absurd to say dvd is better.

accept itsony make a good desicion with bluray!

  • Blu-Ray can suck it. Same resolution and same price except my 360 works with HD-DVD, so I vote for HD-DVD.

What can the extra data do anyways?

More commentary that I don't listen to.

    Commentary #56- The Janitor

"Oh I remember them filming this scene, someone took a huge shit that day. Boy was that a tough plunge. Then that actor with that leather jacket on, over there, said "hey douche bag, get me another red bull, bitch." Oh I was shocked, nice man though..."

  • errrmm, even though ur 360 doesnt actually work with HD-DVD does it. It can play the disc, but not in the actual HD quality, u have to buy an external drive to do that. So 'shhhh' silly xbox fan boy and dont be so narrow minded.

  • You might want to update your video clip information since HD DVD's now have larger storage capacities than Blu Ray. You also forgot to mention that Sony was voted the worst tech company of 2006 and that Consumer Reports has even dogged on the Blu Ray in comparision to HD DVD.

  • Explain the significants of the larger storage capacities HD has now then... So what if Sony was voted worse tech co. of 06? Why? because they launched the PS3 at such a high price? lol. Tell me more about the Consumer Reports...

  • So far, so good, PS3 with the Blu-ray is much better than the HD DVD Driver for the X-Box 360. Go compare yourself, or do some more reading.

  • this is shit what is the point of this crap

  • this is false blu rays have a filter that distorts the picture and the entire industry is furious at it for it

  • you just wasted a minute and 30 seconds of my time

  • HD DVD is better, purely because it is just as good and CHEAPER. HD DVD will win, because it has microsofts backing.

  • microsoft has said if hd dvd loses the format war they will make a blu ray add on to the 360

  • they had said, but research on that again and u'll see that statment was not backed up and they will still back up hd dvd...it will win just watch

  • Do you know how many studios are backing bluray? No, kkthnxbye

  • Yes. Sony, MGM, Fox, Warner Bros., Paramount, Lions Gate. and how many studios are backing HD-DVD? Less.

  • Yeah, I said that in support of Blu-Ray

  • This sounds familiar where have i heard this before? Oh that's right Sony's UMD disc it to was supposed to have all this backing from major film companies and that went down the toilet

  • About 41, do some research before posting your gibberish. Funny thing is, some former Blu Ray exclusive studios are switching to HD DVD like Digital Playground and Bandai Visual. Yest none of the HD studios have switched to Blu Ray.

  • Digital Playground? Blu-ray didn't want to release any porn on their format for you to jerk off too. But they must be on the edge right now because in recent news, Vivid Video are committing to their first Blu-ray release due in early 2007.

  • Did you even bother to do any research prior to posting? There are about 41 at last count. The good news for HD DVD fans is that Blu Ray studios are defecting to the HD DVD format - Digital Playground and Bandia Visual. Yet NO HD DVD studio has made the switch to Blu Ray. BD = Bad Decision

  • Actually Blu-Ray has more quality Picture than HD-DVD. Hooked up a Phlips Blu-Ray Player to a Sony Bravia HD LCD TV. And the Picture looks really nice and sharp. Better than the RCA, HD-DVD player. Sure Blu-Ray will win with more players, and movies comming out.

  • Nether HDDVD's or blue ray will win

    there both expensive and retarted.

  • i don't care about any of that because i dont have a hd tv.plus they don't make hd bootlegs

  • Thats why HD-DVD has the best picture quality, go read all the reviews, Bluray uses Mpeg 2 codec which takes up too much space so does the PCM sound tracks, HD-DVD doesnt need all that space, it uses Better codecs such as Dolby TrueHD which doesnt take up all the space and even looks and sounds better

  • The reason why its better than the HD DVD

  • the funny thing is that they can convert it to any kind of codec and the bluray players will be able to read it because their firmware can be updated. so what you said is useless :) and BLURAY owns in capacity
