Oil smoke is white IMO- I've never seen it as being a blue color. take some spark plugs out and squirt some oil in there.  Its White!

Black smoke is rich fuel mixture/unburnt fuel

I X5 4.4 and I also like that I smoke, I tried different oil and nothing changed ... I do not know what it might be ... diarrhea and smoke it when the engine is running about 10 minutes at idle, and then adding the gas ... not driving

It's a stupid and ridiculous car, no 4x4 should have any sport-like influences, it should be made to go off-road, or anywhere a car can't without struggling. If you're going to buy a 4x4, buy a Land Rover, or in fact anything which doesn't have a ridiculously powerful engine and wheels bigger than the moon. Uhhh...new engines still shouldn't be flogged when they are cold...the oil hasn't even been moved up into the heads...a few minutes of light driving and it is good to go but new engines still should be thoroughly warmed before giving them hell.

Eeerm being a fully trained mercedes AMG technician for 12 years I can safely say that on an engine start up blue smoke means a worn oil seal in the turbos....safe to say the engine needs alot of work.....also goes to show that's why you need to warm your engine up first and cool it afterwards by leaving the car running for 5 mins....it prolongs the life of a turbo.

If you open your eyes you can see the difference between the water vapour (which is kind of normal when the engine is cold) and the blue oil-smoke very clear.

i agree blue smoke is also a sign of burning oil, but doesnt different octanes of fuel burn differently too.... thats why you have to run premium in AMG's, this is a result of shitty fuel.

AND i know for a fact it doesnt burn oil. okay maybe in 3k a tablespoon is burnt. i'm telling you its shitty fuel and the modded exhaust.
