I just made my dough for the first time tonight on trying bagels and it's in the refrig because I am tired and I want to be a little more awake but I wanted my dough to set, I saw on another video I should make sure to mix all the flour up with them so I will do that tommarow too. Wish me luck I am a little nervous about it too, but not worried alot because I have more yeast and bread flour if i need it lol. Does anyone have any ideas for what to put on top of th bagels while baking?
@lisababy85 Hi there.. in my video I show the toppings I used.. sesame seeds.. poppy seeds and finely diced onion. I hope they work out for you! Thanks so much for watching and commenting :) !!
@kissnyuszi Thank you that does help=) I made my bagels today, it was fun but the only problem is the dough had some dry spots because of me letting it ref. and it dried out some so I couldn't mold them as easy. But it's actually alot of fun!! I am gonna do it again today YAY! They taste so much better than store bought. How often do you make yours?
Thank you for uploading, happy to see this video.
I felt Fun & Joy. Subs are easy to read & BGM goes well.
Once I lived in Connecticut and met bagels, muffins, wuffle, and so-on. Since then, I like them all & and now I like both making and tasting (eating) them.:-))
(well, I've baked Bagel just now. I found your video during they were in oven (laugh):-))
Nice work, we liked your video very much so we embedded it on ChefCommons w/ link back and reference to Youtube. (Let us know if you don't wish for it to be featured)
They were really nice, thank you! I think best eaten when made on the day.. lovely and fresh. They're made without preservatives and other artificial additives, hence why 'fresh is best'. Have a go at making them - the recipe is in the info section beside the video on the right! :)
I've always wanted to make bagels, but I'm to scared that there not going to come out right, but your look amazing especially the sesame/onion great job
Oh please don't be intimidated by the bagel making process. This was my first try. Granted, I'm a foodie. But I was inspired by someone elses bagels (on their blog) and I decided to be daring! You should give them a try. I have the recipe listed beside the video and you have the video to refer to how mine looked at each step. I wish you the best! :)
They were the best. And I recommend, best eaten fresh and not left for the next day. Make lots and have people over and just fill bagels for a hearty meal! :)
I think we had some cream cheese too on the side. A must when you have smoked salmon! Thanks for watching..and apolgies for taking this long to reply to your comment! :)
wow, those looked incredible! i also tried the nigella recipe but mine turned out to be terrible. have you got any tips (on shaping, preparing the yeast etc)? good job! I'm jealous lol!
I'm so sorry it's taken me this long to reply to your comment! Hmmm.. tips? Knead the dough very well.. My husband did an excellent job of giving that dough a pounding as I don't have any fancy machines with dough hooks! Take care with the shaping to make them as pretty as possible before boiling. I wanted mine to resemble store-bought bagels in the presentation. Smooth sausage shapes before you make them round. If that makes sense? I hope this helps in some way?
good Video of yours..Im mexican man but when I was in the states I got bagles for the first time , now thanks of your video I will try do some in home....Gracias. Im a Love-Bagles eater LOL
Thank you! I hope you try making them. This video was the first time I made them and they were a success. Best eaten fresh on the day you make them. Best wishes..and thanks so much for watching and commenting! :)
There is a photo (in the video) of the bagels boiling in the water! Thanks so much for your comment.. It's always nice when someone I don't know randomly finds me and takes the time to comment.. thanks, cheers! Maria.
They *were* yummy Curt - but best eaten lovely and fresh on the day. They increase in 'toughness' each day and become too chewy.. and 'door-stop-ish'! :-)
Oh gosh, me eating a bagel - a bit too kinky for my tastes because they're certainly a mouthful! Thus, looking 'lady like' while eating them was a bit impossible..lol! I've posted the recipe in the description (at last). So sorry for the delay in commenting -I've been falling apart physically -but I'm still here. Thank you for the channel comment btw! Time for more catch-up vids for me! (Have also had PC hassles.. grrr..). Nice to hear from you Danny! :-)
At last I have posted the recipe for you in the description (using metric, not imperial measurements, as per Nigella's cookbook). I use online converters for currency/measurements etc.. but of course didn't need to for this recipe as we use metric here in Australia too. Thanks for watching Jenny! :-)
Maryann, it's good to see *YOU*! I think I pm'd you yesterday about catching Blink's video about your recent account hassles? I hope all is going well now for you. Thanks so much for stopping by! :-)
Aw.. you're too kind! My apologies for the delay in replying to your comment also. I love it that you mention the photography in my video's.. because I enjoy taking photo's with my little, modest digital camera. :-) How are you? I need to catch up with my subscription vids again. I've been quieter on here the last couple of months. I do appreciate your loyal viewing, thank you! :-)
Thanks for the amazing recipe! That could be the single best piece of bread i've had in years even compared to "Paul"'s baguettes!

Looked delicious Maria - would have been nice to see you eat one. How long do you boil it for? And how long in the oven at what temp?
Cinnamon raisin is my favorite bagel. Sorry to hear about your Carpel Tunnel.
