Well,it didn't help that Randy was always playing guitar. Took away from his arcade skills. But the thing is ,as I remember Randy was as big alive and even bigger when he passed. He was not a myth. Diary and Blizzard cemented him as a universal wonder. I figure he had all this stuff saved in his head when doin time with quiet riot ,then when he got a chance to fully utilize his ideas ,he unleashed them with Ozzy. Randy Rhoads forever!!

I think Lemmy's point is, EVERYONE gets better after they die. The memories of their performances grow in stature and eclipse the ACTUAL performances. He wasn't taking a pot shot at Randy at all (except for his lousy Asteroids play!). John Lennon was a great song writer, but he was also a terrible father, a serious drug abuser, hypocrite and all around self-obsessed jerk. Is it horrible that he was murdered? Of course. But he has been turned into "St. John the Beatle". Better when dead.

I wonder if all of the "Randy was getting better folks" realize that Randy was "done" with rock music. 'Diary' would likely have been his last album with Ozzy anyway. Yes, he was getting better, but he was channeling his talent into accoustic/classical/jazz guitar. So you don't have to lose sleep over Randy not making anymore albums with Ozzy. BTW Jack E Lee rips it up on Bark at the Moon. And HE gave up rock music too!
