You did a lousy job but as a die hard Offspring fan for 16 years these two songs are absurdly similar to the point I can't believe the producer didn't interject. RFRG is full of such things, Trust in You sounds a lot like Smash, down to the rhythm guitars. Look Like Me bears a great resemblance to Linkin Park's What I've Done.
A lot of the Offspring fans just tearing the piss out of MCR are just dimwits. True fans can critique. Grow the fuck up
I don't understand how you can call it plagiarism when one band (Your Chemical Bullshit) writes a shitty song and then another (The Offspring) writes a better one that sounds nothing like it.
there are a shit load of similarities. the beginnings both start off off with melodic guitar sounds. the verses all pick up in a quick punk rock drum and guitar riff. the chorus in both songs break down into a slower beat and the chords are very similar. the bridge also becomes very ambient after the second chorus. similar songs. both awesome.
maybe offspring liked MCRs song and made it better.

completely different songs..no similarities...btw whats the name of the song at the start??i know its mcr and doesnt have lyrics but i dont remember the name
lol, nah...not seeing it myself. the chord sequences on the two songs are totally different. the cahnge of pace between verse and song is slightly similar, but the melodies and chord sequences continue to differ. very, very definitely not plagiarism in any sense of the word.
Not particularly to my ear. The first part of Helena is alternating chords strummed repeatedly. The supposedly corresponding part of Half-Truism is a set of arpegiated chords. The guitar tone is quite different - Helena uses heavy overdrive, and Half-Truism has a much cleaner sound. During the verse, Half-Truism sticks to 8 beats for each chord, while Helena has roughly 8-4-2-2-2 pattern, again both play different chords, rhythms and tones. So it goes on.
The only real similarity is in the first lines of each chorus, and that's because the particular melodic pattern that the two use is fairly common in rock music, and is always quite moving.
I dont care who copied who both my chemical romance and offspring are great bands in my opinion
