@MyPino007 I read German pretty well, although I am not fluent enough to write in it.
These videos are getting old, and I keep wanting to update my channel, but haven't found the time (I have some technical issues with video editing, too.)
You are correct that my main hobby (Freizeibeschäuftigung) is dogs and dog training and behaviour. I don't spend much time actually training dogs, though; I should do a lot more! I do read or study something dog-training related every day. (continued...)
(part 2) In this video Kaisa was 7 years old; she's 11 now. I don't train her very much as I have a new dog who is, truthfully, much easier and more fun as a training partner. Kaisa taught me a lot, but she is/was always very easily stressed and difficult to motivate to work for longer periods at a time.
I think you are more impressed by this video than you really should be; the environment shown was NOT difficult for Kaisa because there were no strange DOGS present - her main distraction.....
(part 3) ...and we were doing easy, short behaviors, and I was rewarding (click + treat) her frequently.
To answer your other question, how many hours I trained her: It's a bit difficult to say because training is what I like to do most with my dogs - I train in tiny bits and pieces every day. But I don't think I have ever trained more than 3 or 4 hours of "structured" training time (planned out, formal training) a week for each dog.
Amazing! I have a 5 years old blk&tan GP named Mika that we have trained from the day we brought her home but she is not at that level. How do you do it? I ask because we are in the process of finding her a new home as we have had some biting and aggression issues. We hate the idea of finding her a new home but have infants in the home now to be concerned about.
I'm sorry to hear about Mika's behavior issues. I know firsthand how heartbreaking is can be to deal with an aggressive dog. I hope you find a good trainer (which is what I would recommend; lots of good info on the Net, but serious issues need in-person help IMO) and that you are able to resolve the situation in a safe manner for all concerned.
We do have awesome animal behaviorist that we have been working with. Met with her again today and things are looking hopeful. She has recommended dog daycare 1/2x per week and agility class 1x per week. Also suggested some techniques for us to work on with the Mika and the babies. We are totally on board.
to work toward keeping our family together. Thanks for your amazing inspiration.
Very nice video! A bus station was a great idea for distraction training. How long did it take to get your dog to this level of training? Also, what kind of treats are you using here?
Thank you! Yes, it's a nice place to train in the winter. I forget what my exact treats were that day, but standbys are hot dogs, cheese, chicken. High value is in order for this level of distractions (and filming, grin).
How long training takes is always an extremely difficult question to answer. For Kaisa this isn't a particularly hard setting; she has never had any issues with people, moving objects, or moderate noise. Now, if those had been milling DOGS...!
Heh, thanks. There was a big traffic snafu here today, so I suspect the passersby were feeling too frazzled to spare time for molesting cute doggies. Which of course I was perfectly happy with. *grin*

Impressive as always. I'm more amazed that nobody stopped to stroke Kaisa! :)

*squint* It's been a long time since I've seen our weave-through-my-legs on tape. It still looks pretty hideous. LOL!
