Alabama was prevented from going to the Sugar Bowl because it was the NCG that year...coincidentally, that game featured teams that would have otherwise gone to the Orange Bowl
Neutral fan here, but I just have to say that I love ABC's intro to this game, pumps me up every time. I wish they'd bring ABC's presentation back. They added the old ABC music for the BCS bowls last season, but otherwise the presentation was still rather dry. :/
this vid and the 2001 citrus bowl are proof that the sec HAS NOT and DOES NOT always dominate the other conferences, especially the big ten. they're beatable. only blowhio state can't beat the sec while others like michigan, iowa, wisconsin have done it several times
Energy sources without the need for fuel or energy input exist ,But the Establishment doesn't want ppl to know this,Get the blueprints for a real Magnet motor free enegy machine at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Free yourself!
Michigan has always gotten it done against the SEC in the last 10 years. I bet we would beat Florida again if we played them! Tim Tebow couldn't even beat us!
Not even close. With the score tied at 28-28 in the second half, we fumbled the ball away on the 1 yard line. We also have a FG blocked in the final seconds.
Alabama was lucky the game even went into overtime at all. Michigan dominated the second half.
@WolverineHistorian It is in my humble opinion that Alabama had the more talented team, but Michigan was coached by far superior individuals such as Lloyd Carr compared to Mike Dubose. Michigan also had WAY superior depth in this game, and you could tell in the final quarter when Bama's players looked like a bunch of worked horses. Its a shame... hope we beat you guys in Dallas in 2012 ;)
@smi99003 you sir are a moron. apparently you ignored the fumble at the goal line that would have put the game away, and the field goal that was blocked at the end, but no you just focus on the part of the game that suits you. the missed extra point(which was karma). michigan dominated the most of the second half and just took over.
@smi99003 look at the michigan players. David Terrell, Jeff Backus, Steve Hutchinson, Tom Brady, Anthony Thomas. Larry Foote, Ian Gold, Cato June, Dhani Jones, James Hall.
@smi99003 You can think that all you want, at the end of the day we have the W next to our name you have the L next to yours. And in life all people look at is W's and L's.
@smi99003 - I agree. Alabama lead the whole game. You're on a Michigan video. What do you expect?
Alabama plays Michigan in 2012. Rodriguez better have it together. We'll see what happens then. Alabama doesn't have Mike Dubose. Bama has one of the top 5 Coaches of the last 25 years coaching there in Tuscaloosa.
@smi99003 Lucky would have been if a bird flew by and knocked the ball off its trajectory. A 19 year old kicker missing an extra point because he cannot handle the pressure is what it is.
I am a huge Wolverine fan and I always wonder where you get all these games. If you posted them online I would be willing to pay you to download them. Please reply, thanks! Go Blue!
This is the BCS game ever. No disrespect to Texas-USC, Texas-Michigan, Penn State-Florida State, Boise State-Oklahoma but this one takes the cake for me. Back and forth, momentum shifting play all night. I stayed up to 1AM CT to watch this game and actually laid in my bed until 3AM CT just taking it all end. That was one of those games that should've never ended. That intro is was intense. The BCS on ABC intros were classic.
@IssacharMan I agree. I like Michigan. No offense to Michigan fans. But Bama was unable to hang on to their lead. Bama couldn't put Michigan away. Michigan had the thing where they hung around. They would win it in last 3 or 4 minutes of the game.
You know... be glad you UM fans got to experience good years of football from 2000-2007 under Lloyd Carr. Though this was a great game, our football team fell into the pits of hell after this heartbreaker and it took us almost a decade to get back to normal.
I was born in Detroit and moved to Alabama when I was 10. My freshman year at the University of Alabama I was a member of the Million Dollar Band. A girl in my sectoin was from Frakenmuth, Michigan and we both pulled for Michigan in the middle of Bama's band. I wonder if you can see the blue shakers in the sea of Crimson?
Thank you so so much for posting this WH, I'm really happy that I get to see how the entire game played out. I was 9 years old when this game was played and obviously I was too young to stay up for such a late game. I was so excited when I heard that Michigan had won but I never got to watch the game.
Yeah, this game started at 8:00 at night. With it going into overtime and listening to the post game interviews on the radio, I didn't go to bed until 2:00 in the morning.
Was it 8 or 8:30. Most of the BCS games on ABC started at 8:00 but I thought the New Years Day nightcapper started at 8:30 so the Rose Bowl didn't overlap.
And I would also like to give props for including the intro, I honestly sometimes find those the most interesting part of the broadcast.
This is one of those games than, even after all this time, even though you've seen it a thousand times, even though you know how it ends, it's still hard to watch without worrying about the end. Like the outcome just might've been changed on you since the last time you saw it. lol
This was just an awesome game! Plain and simple...No joke I think Tom Brady led back that 1999 team in 6 or 7 comebacks....That was one of the greatest teams I saw in my life time
This is historical proof that Tom Brady was unshakable. They guy never got shaken against Alabama.
