Actually eating smaller meals spread throughout the day is a strategy to lower insulin levels, not spike them. Larger meals require larger amounts of insulin. Smaller meals, especially those with dietary fat and smaller amounts of carbs keep insulin at bay.
the rules definitely change when you are on a ketogenic diet. This is just a broad summary that doesnt get into detail about the types of foods and affects it has on insulin such as certain carbs..
If I eat anything (ANYTHING) for breakfast I feel instantly bogged down, tired and foggy. If I have just green tea or plain coffee, I feel sharp, focused and clear until dinner, even if I have a tiny lunch of pure protein, I'm fine until dinner. By then I am pretty hungry, but more often than not I'm satisfied by a moderate dinner. (And I'm a 6'1" 210lb active, muscular male)
@TehBerbDean Since high school. I ate breakfast all through early school, and I was a chubby lad, boobs and all. When high school and mid teen years started, along with interest in girls, the desire for a leaner physique started as well. through trial and error, found that eating breakfast instantly bogged down my energy and impeded weight (fat) loss. No food until lunch (and lunch was hearty) no problem.
@gledalac1979 I agree--- i feel much better on 1 or 2 meals/day.. Breakfast is not necessary at all.. and I honestly feel that "experts" just say it is because people tend to think they need to eat more later to compensate, so they rationalize that you "need" breakfast....

I don't believe spiking insulin causes a resistance.

What are your thoughts about coffee? Unhealthy to be drinking too many of them (3 or more cups of coffee a day)?
