As to the un-repentant? They are hate filled toward Christ still.

By Paul, I think one can see that it wasn't a fabrication that was sought to be destroyed either. Paul's story is one that certainly would affirm that Jesus wasn't a fantasy character and that something happend to Paul that made him risk his life everyday. I doubt he would've done that for something he "knew" was fantasy, because we, today, have to rely on faith. Paul did not. You're assertion is highly unlikely in sight of that.
