@gardgia they could have just imported them as 3 distinct series and then called it the "Harmony Gold Sci-Fi Showcase" or something. Instead they get all this praise for making ROBOTECH. I remember the ai oboete imasu ka song (in english) from the (australian...strangely...) translation of the movie it was called "macross - clash of the bionoids" and they didn't do a too bad job of translating that song.

Maybe the American producers of Robotech used a music library for their soundtracks? A lot of the animation companies did this to save money on scoring their own tracks.
No i have the Robotech Soundtrack on CD, and its clearly music having been commissioned by Harmony Gold during the re-editing of Macross into Robotech. Ulpino Munnici is the composer for most of the pieces. What has likely happened here, is the music has been re-licensed...movie soundtrack snippets are used over and over again in similar fashion (e.g. alot of the Aliens soundtrack for one).
its almost like the took their selling "robotech as an orignal anime" to the point where the soundtrack is litteraly a compilation of all the old infomercials
Is it possible that the original backing track is on some sort of "royalty free" production library? That's really something. It's definitely the Minmei song.
