  • man this was how long ago. I loved this. lol i miss pearl city now and dang the solos sounded different back then but now its kina like a "wow" we sounded like that moment.

    -Love MissRoseyy

  • its sad that Mr Iyoki is going to leave highlands next school year. Hes the best band teacher.

  • the wind ensemble at my school is playing this, this year.

  • 1st Flute part along w/ clarinet and saxophones have fun parts, im not in this band but.... cool job ;)

  • HOLY HELL. I heard... um... PCHS perform this piece this past band festival I think. God, I was so out of it being "blah" from our performance...

    Yay for Momohara! <33

  • is not the factor of the players or musicians. it is the factor of music. whatever they play really nice. im not a good musicians but i love music. keep it up!!!!!!

  • haha, other people from my band already commented. i love this song. cant match its speed

  • my dad was in the original band that commissioned this, at robins air force base in georgia. he played the snare part.

we played/ are playing in in our high school band right now, it's really cool.

  • yeah i love the clarinet part. the 1st cornet part is my fav, tho. :)

  • Im playing the timpani part right now in my honor band.

  • we're playing this right now, the clarinet part is fun to play, though i'm not very good.

    :)

  • wich part are you playing? third?econd? or first?

  • aww no harp at 3:15!!!

  • Aw...I miss this band soo soo much. D: Now I'm all old and just reminiscing.

I think I'm gonna stop by one of these days and bug Iyoki to play french horn. lol.

  • Clarinet rulzzz!!!

  • Clarinets are the best!!!!

  • Begining part, sound is very good and all parts are good play on parts. But Oboe players solo/soli does not come out and too soft, that part would have play abit loud. Flute is well done part is loud enough and have a feeling sweet sound. Overall, Sound is great.

  • PRO! =D

  • Esta peça é mais um dos grandes desafios da BANDA SINFÔNICA JOVEM DE ITAPEVI-SP -BRASIL;

EM BREVE NO YOU TUBE P/ VCS!!!!

  • hahahahaaaa i can see the top of my head too.

  • eeughh we sucked (meaning the horns) you squiddys were ok though.

  • It's quite good but the trumpets have to play more dominant. But the song is very difficult so it's pretty good.

  • i played this piece last year in my school band it was really fun to play seeing as i played french horn and this song was the only piece that we had any melody

  • Trumpet fanfares could be better...and clearer...but for this size band it's pretty good!

  • I like it, but it's better when the french horns are stronger than the altos with the melody.

Way better than we played it at camp though!

  • is this intermediate symphonic band??!?!? it sounds GREAT!!! good good job !

  • I love the song and I love the way it is played. Many bands play it too slow, but here the rhythm is respected throughout the song. At the start of the slow part some floating notes hurted my ears though :)

  • which country this band comes from

  • If I am not mistaken, it is from Pearl City, Oahu, Hawaii

  • yups it is

  • amazing piece; i love it. too bad the quality of the recording sort of ruins it. the tone seems really bad on the trumpets in particular. dynamics? no? oh well, still very well done for intermediate level. next step, music and not just notes. :)

  • For the age group of the band, that is a really impressive performance. Congrats on a good performance.

  • this is really good i was gonna play for symphonic but my mom wouldnt let me take summer school first year bleh but this sounds really good

  • our skool is played this piece too! it's a great piece. kinda hard to count in the beginning, but definitely fun! =) good job!

  • which country was this band in?

  • the Clarinets in the first row was awesome! the played their part GREAT. :D The second movement was great too! Especially that first clarinet soli. Too bad the THIRD AND FOURTH DIDNT PLAY AS LOUD AS THE SECOND. -cough cough- >__>;

  • Well, it sounds pretty good (if you ignore the bad video quality) but i think the flutes have to work on their intonation at the beginning, they don´t really listen well to the others playing the theme!

  • I always love hearing the baritone solo in the 8/8 section.

  • The basses could be better..but is very nice ;)

    nice job

  • i must say, this SOUNDS very good!

i played the trumpet in this song with the Leilehua Band last year, so i know this song very well. You guys did an extraordinary job on this piece. And please try not to make too much trouble to iyoki! lol

  • i love this song!! my concert band did it in high school ^^'...i was the only french horn hehe

    muzukashiiiii!!!!

  • our HS symphonic band did this last year. pretty good for intermediates. i would say you need to play more in tune, and maybe more dynamics, but then again the quality of the recording isnt too good. overall great job :]

  • crap i didnt get into symphonic band last year XD

  • That Tenor in the back, Micah. he's pretty hot.

  • you mean alllll the way in the back.

i cant even see that loser! must be a gay.

but that first bassoon. damn hes sexy!

  • the wind ensemble in my high school played this piece.

you guys sound amazing for playing this in you grades.

    very well done.

  • great job guys. our band(leilehua high)played this last year and you guys sound just as good. Iyoki is very good.

  • Continued from previous

It's a very nice solo, but it sounds wrong to my ears since I learnt it a different way. Also, there are some parts where the melody could be louder and the runs cleaner, but overall a nice performance. The end was awesome. Very similar to the professional recording I have. Though the last note could have been a bit cleaner.

  • Not bad. My band played this three years ago. I was so mad that I didn't get the oboe solo. I got put on English horn instead. Listening to the solo in this, it starts off very nice, but it sounds almost like they're missing a note in the last half of it. It might be a change that you guys made, but when we did it every count had a distinct note. It's hard to explain in writing.

  • Mr. Iyoki is right, those euphoniums are a bit loud.

    xD

    GOOO CHRISTINE and her solo!

    And ANYSA and her...solo!

    Three note solo.

    x]

  • i know. eek! don't for get our little part where Mr. Iyoki is all like "FIRST CLARINETS PLAY LOUDER!!!"

    xD

ahhh, memories. the awesome really missed ones.

now this song reminds me of *cough cough*

cuz of all the rehearsals. and i like know thier part already from like sercretly recording it.

    :]]

    lmao.

  • Haha.

I remember him screaming at us when Zach was playing the keyboard and Sheldon wasn't at that rehearsal.

    PLAY.

    -inhales-

    LOUDERRRRR.

    x]

  • Yeah.

Goshers. That was kinda fun though.

Knowing that we probably won't ever do that again, with that band and teacher. xD

    good times, good times.

    :]

  • Baritones sounds very nice and much in tune...everything is so properly put...the oboe's solo is relaxing and soothing...BRAVO...

  • This song is so well put together...

Alfred Reed would've been very proud :]

Highlands is truly one of the best middle school bands

  • thats awesome. was it this year?

  • was this highlands high school or middle?

  • Highlands is a middle school....xD

  • You know, if the video was one second longer, it wouldn't have made the ten minute long time limit.

    xD
