  • Y u no play Ice Hockey?

  • I hate this fucking song.

  • @xroxann it's used too much

  • im a feild hockey goalie and its rlly hard training trying to learn diving try playing feild hockey with out one! ice and feild are both hard!

  • Love the Black Keepers gear, looks great! Im looking at getting myself some new gear, still not sure on brand, but I now know I want black!

  • @ SantianoDude. It's better then takilinng other men ? How is it gay ? Oh yeah it's not

  • @SantinoDude well you don't have the balls to try it

  • And what's the point of the last exercise? The point of a practice is to simulate match situations, but I have yet to come across a match where I clear an unreachable ball to the left side and I immediatly have to dive to the upper right side of the goal to catch a rebound. Ofcourse it has something to do with stamina, but goalies don't need endurance like that. Better to wait for the goalie to be ready then to throw a next ball when he's still down from the poor clear of the first ball.

  • @rottemandarijn the last exercise is all about reflexes and speed, it isnt a game situation at all, but it is forcing the goalie to react quickly.

  • In the second exercise, the point of the technique is to hit the ball with your inner foot. Your inner foot being the one closest to the central line of the field. For instance: if a ball is coming to your left side, you kick the ball with your right foot while sliding on your left knee. The point of this technique is to block yourself from incoming stick swipes from enthousiastic attackers. If they attempt to take a swing at it, they'll hit your leg-guard instead of your chest or leg.

  • thanks guys i have to train myself last season my coach didnt even give me a second glance u are gonna be my savour

  • <3 this song

  • i have bin interested in field hockey n how they play, especially the keeper cuz my ex bf who i still love vry much is a keeper 4 a field hockey team n i never knew how they played, this is vry interesting n i have an idea of wat he goes through now ^^ i just wish i can watch him play

  • I wish our goalie practice was like this :)

  • Not this song...

  • Echt super knap en goed:P

  • yes goal keeping is fun but hard.

To be a goalie is the hardest place on the field!

  • @SuperMrIllusion I soo agree i was a keeper for 4.5 years and loved it but yeah its hard but worth it.

  • That looks absurdly easy after playing hockey goalie. No offense of course

  • some drills in there but some terrible technique. plus as if your not wearing your lid you see the ball differently to when you are so if you train without the techniques you learn will be harder to do as in a game your view suddenly changes.

  • some good drills but the goalie techniques aren't the best

  • sliding on your back leg is just a bad habit

  • is it more effective to do what the goalie in red is doing when he clears the ball? sliding on the ground essentially?

  • @SkarzieChannel It is a bad habit as it has been said to slid on your back leg you should either lunge and kick or commit fully to the slide

  • is not you to keep the bals out???????????;p

  • Jenna and Allen, you both should watch this video.

  • @NSuttonPictures I Suggest you to firstly pay attention to how he leans when standing and kicking the ball. Some keepers lean too much backwards and by kicking a fast ball they fall. Then when diving I suggest you to tell the keepers they need to dive, "following their hockeystick".

  • AWESOME KEEPING :D

  • ok, i have a question. how often do you guys dive? i was told not to dive/go on the ground because it was too hard to get back up, but that was only from another goalie who had very little experience. Would it be better to just train myself how to get up and down?

  • @prtygurl102 just started and my couch told me to strech my leg across the goal so idk

  • @prtygurl102 i dive alot but its just your own stlye to be honest . i dive but i can get up extremely quick. its learning to judge if u need to get up again or judge where the ball is gonna go. i do a drill which where you lay on ur front in the goal and have someone on top D throwing balls at either side of goal and u got to up kick them out ! its just builds your getting up and reacting

  • getting hit isn't too bad, honestly, my thigh protectors don't do much besides stopping me from getting seriously injured there. most of the girls in my league aren't that good anyway, so it doesn't matter. but i love these training ideas. Me and my friend will have to work on them together next season. but these guys are really good for being able to handle most of those drills

  • really good training thanks :-) i do goaling to! people say 'your a girl why do you do such a rough sport!' i am just like does it matter! gets ma anger out :-D

  • This is some good training material, I'll certainly show this to my trainer. My training is nothing in comparison with this.

  • hmm just wondering about the body postion of the GK and the how is weight is shifting becasue 90% those GK's were off balanced and un prepared for rebounds...just a point.

  • i wish my training was that intense, gave me good training ideas tho

  • @bannanocake same.............except i just flatten my team at trainings by sliding :D

  • theres no kneeprotector... its just you and ure skin hahaXXD im a goalkeeper to and a lot of times balls come on your knees.. but we learn where balls hurt on keepers and thats hw our trainers train my team.... let them know where it hurts so they can hurt a keeper in the game.... yup it hurts on your knees and neck but yeah thats the game......:P

  • i only play for the U15's and it still reli hurts lol i gt hit on the kne about two weeks ago my knee swelled up an i had to miss training :( iv neva bin hit in the neck tho an tbh im not reli lookin forward to it :P

  • does it hurt when you play in goal in field hockey

  • not realy, but you can feel hard shots to the chest and legs... when i started i used to be scared of getting hit in the head, but is only a bit of a shake, almost happens every session now lol

  • No. It only hurts when you get hit in the arms or chest, but not too bad. Once I got it with a stick on the front of my foot were it meets my chin and I cried. Lol. :(

  • yeah i rekon you should be wearing full kit for warm ups and training and possibly at a higher intensity if possible you should always try and train at game intensity good vid

  • i wear full kit for warm ups i even do fitness trainin with my whole squad in my kit and it does help alot i feel alot fitter because i do that than i would by jus doing it without my kit

  • they have talent ! and an amazing training

  • Hmmm lemme think about that - ice hockey goalies play on ice wearing skates and field hockey goalies play on grass - I'm sure even a TOOL like you could understand there is a difference...

  • @nzfocus ice hockey goalies can move more easily and its way less tiring

  • @nzfocus Grass?

  • @nzfocus field hockey players dont always play on grass there is water base turf and sand turf

  • as with all keepers you can improve. here are some tips: keep your hands up to create a better center of gravity for kicking and to make hand saves quicker. don't go down when you kick as if this goes to an attack you cant dive top left and you have part of your knee left vulnerable. finally always keep full kit with the exception of a warm up as you get the idea of moving and feel of your kit

  • keepers choice if they wanna where helmets in training, i didn't nd got a ball on the jaw. it's there fault if they get hit =~)

  • Great trainingexample! Will be used to train the youth goalies

  • song???

  • 009 Sound System - Dreamscape

  • why are u going down when u wanna hit the ball.... they can hit ure knee!... and believe me that hurt...!

  • Just asking is there no knee-protection cause in ice-hockey theres one?

  • helmets?

  • i don't like this session...

  • exelent!!

  • play ice hockey

  • Not another wacker who thinks ice hockey 'is it'. . . please..go find your own forum

  • i think it is not right way to practice here they must slide before taking the ball.

  • i thinkk this is very good and will suggest some activities to my coach

  • This is the worst way to display "training" for a goalkeeper. They are showing alot of terrible habits in this. i.e. going to the ground so often... this should only be a last resort or for sliding at a player. Then the goalkeeper only using stick to save air shots and not bringing other hand over. Then there is the using the stick to save the ball when they slide onto there shins. Oh and the fact they are clearing infront of them instead of to the sides and sliding and scoring goals...

    LAME

  • if you bring your other hand over you can't see the ball all the time so you don't have to do that. You are right about the stick. They should save it with their righthand not their stick

  • its always good to practice saving with your stick, its really difficult to get used to it

  • all ways hit to the side lines!! i agree with ya loadz!!! i only dive when i hafta!!!

  • i agree. i play on grass so its a little different, but if i were to go to the ground as much as they did, i would be getting scored on 3-fold.

  • i agree, but.. i must say that everyone play differantly.. i too think they are on the ground to much and if a good attacker picks up on then the game is not to the goalies team. BUT you are diffently right.. they also need to wear helmets far more often as the ball can come from anywhere (Rule 1 in my books)

  • when you are kicking you should have your head over your knee over your foot and be leening forward if u want to train for this standstill lean forward till your about to fall and then go for the kick you get real force put of it also YOU DONT NEED TO SLIDE AFTER A KICK IF THERE WAS ANOTHER SHOT COMING AT YOU YOU WOULD HAVE TO WASTE TIME GETTING UP AGAIN

  • And I reckon theres nothing wrong with sliding after a kicksave, just means your foot followed through with the ball.

  • correct, plus you are putting extra force into the kick. and in 1 on 1 situations, the keeper usually comes out on top, with the ball ;)

  • @padzter Actually, forwards usually win 1 v 1. If it's a good striker, they'll generally win. We just like to think we let them score.

  • and what happens if the foward picks up a rebound and your still on the ground? good goal keeping is about not only the first but also the second and third saves. and why do you get more power? your more likely to fuck up the kick because you dont have the same control as if you were properly balanced ON BOTH FEET

  • yup

  • u should always train in full gear coz ur suppost to be simulating ways of saving shots during a game, also never slide after kicking, u shouldnt have 2 coz ur opposite foot over the ball n all ur weight should follow ur kicking

  • Teletubbies:P

  • hey all you keepers out there! um..i'm relativel;y knew to keeping i play a bit of u14's and ladies i find i am very inconsistant there are some really easy goals i can save but just havent. also i was wondering if any of u guys know any drills you can do without keppers kit?

    thanx

  • Sorry to say mate, but there's no point training without kit on. You can still do a couple of things like kicking, or practising your arc and stance, if you had a few spare minutes.

  • @gossymonster Footwork, footwork, footwork. Ladders, sprints (my coach has me do them in kit), shuffling, all that good stuff. It's really important later.

  • nice. I'm a goalie too and its cool to see other goalie's play

  • Nice saves at 7:20 but seriously helmets while just doing foot work? Then none during chest work? Man, I know its winter but still those helmets are killer. And its not that wise to always fall on your back leg after clearing the ball. It makes it easier for the opponent to score because your still getting balanced, etc after being on the ground. Just keep your head down and bend at the knees. Works just the same.

  • u kick the ball in the air to much. u have 2 keep it down more. ur pretty good tho.

  • yeh keep ur head over the ball

  • it is a cool video...I like this...who sing this song???

  • The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again

  • When they're hitting a bal with theire feet they wear a helmet. But when they're training on chest they don't wear helmets. :P

  • great keeping moves! especially at 7min10, i like this exercise! good training examples, i think this video is really good...

  • it will give you the same protection but obo gear just seems a lot lighter and offers more movement, more in the upper body anyway, as for leg pads, you can always mix it up, then again it all goes back to what you think, if you think you are safe behind the gear then you won't get hurt

  • i play in obo at the moment and i need to get new kit is it worth changing to tk because its cheaper and give the same protection ???

  • you slide on your back foot to keep the ball on the ground, if you are clearing it, why do you want a rebound?? think about it, clear it and that's the end of it. Kick the ball in the air will usually give away a PC. As for helmets, you don't need to wear it when you are kicking a ball in training, it holds heat in, and in that gear, you wanna keep cool haha

  • @thewevy practice as you play, you need to get used to the kit, i always have to wear full kit, always :/

  • @thewevy practice as you play.. i always have to wear a helmet...

  • @aliengangsta well said dude. practice as you play always!! :)

  • @thewevy Hey, do you even play field hockey by any chance? Goalies gotta try to keep the ball on the ground not because they want to, but because if the ball is flying above waist level when you try to clear the ball, you can get peanlised!!! But this does Not to Aerial though!

  • @MikkyChoi yip i do, and i play as a keeper, you even know the rules on a dangerous ball? it ain't dangerous if there is no one to make it dangerous, I wonder what level you play at, because having a ball go at head height these days almost seems normal with the overhead etc... if a keeper is good enough, they can find space where they can clear it even if it means going in the air.

  • @thewevy well, I am a goalie, too. But, apparently, whether a ball above knee-level is a dangerous ball is a matter of the umpire's decision... Unfortunately, the umpires at my inter-school league always call it as a dangerous ball when a goalie kick the ball above knee level. =( I got a penalty for that once... but luckily, I saved it =) Where do you play? I used to play for my school in Somerset and for Taunton Deane Area in England.

  • @MikkyChoi inter-school? as in high school? i play in New Zealand, national team, and reserve age group for New Zealand. Before that it was all Hamilton Boys' high School. The rules have changed over the last year in order to keep flow in the game, which means that the dangerous rule was changed.

  • @thewevy Oh, wow, no wonder you are soo in touch with the rules... =) I stopped playing since I went back to Hong Kong two years ago. Thanks for telling me about the change though! Good luck! Wow, you are the second person I know that play at National level!!!! Congrats! =)!!!! Go easy on England though when you play them! Haha!!!

  • @MikkyChoi haha, yeah, guess that might make a bit of differences then haha. haha, easy on england? might have to think about that one when it happens again haha.

I know of a few clubs in hong kong, but you have to be right up there in skill, its a pity that hong kong doesn't push to much sports in general.

  • @thewevy by the way, yeah, high school level... but I am better at indoor hockey than outdoor hockey =) Kind of missing the game, too.... nobody plays hockey in HK....

  • you shouldnt be dropping to your back leg like that after you kick the ball, there is know need for it and it just makes being set for a rebound that much harder, otherwise pretty good

  • Griffotronmachi is right because if u are dropping your back leg like that your body will be leaning back to which will more likely to raise the ball and also if your back leg is like that you wont be in you proper stance so if the ball is hit at straight away you will have less of a chance of saving it because you wont be able to launch off better.

  • Great that someone has taken time to film...however...I am very concerned that the goalees are NOT WEARING HELMETS, in some clips...I recommend at all times these are worn...no matter the age!

  • niceeeee!

  • I love the slides.

  • hmm... just started keeping :D i like it..

    any1 from the netherlands?!

  • genoeg;)

  • echt he:P, Ik keep al 2 jaar nu en deze video is echt leerzaam :O

  • i am a goalie U16

    i love it...

any girl goalies out there as i have never acculity met a girl goalie.. im a girl =]

ive been playing for abut like 4 years i fucking love it...

    xxx

  • @k3rr1 Hey from Wisconsin...female goalies are a rare breed...we're insane! This video is a little sketchy, but it has really good ideas....they just need to work on hte constant sliding and the helmet choice.

  • when you r kiking try to make your back leg do all the work, and dont lash at the ball wiv your leg, just keep it all smooth and try to stay on your feet when your kiking, otherewise ok overall

  • some 1 tell me what pads they wearing please !

  • at the begining green smock wearing Tk and red mock wearing obo yahoo?

  • awful kicking technique, weight on the heels, need to get your head over the ball. i have a lot of experience in hockey goal keeping. i play for hampshire (english county) and my team has made it to the british county finals. you need to stay on your feet as much as possible, keeping your head over the ball, weight behind the ball so you can put more power into it

  • This guys are from the Senior French National Team

  • First BIG ERROR...no helmets when warming up! Doh

  • this video was rather pathetic i learnt nothing from tht the only thing i could point out in tht video was alot of the stuff the goalkeeper were doin was rather wrong iv been train but northampton lions and northamptonshire and the midlands and the many england camps iv been to iv never been put into crap drills like tht

  • @richardson21 Some of these drills aren't crap. Some of them are actually very good, the goalies are just missing a couple of basics.

  • not bad. but the goalies arent really that good.

  • awasome guys u 2 r rearly good

    where do u come from?

anyways luvin the drills il hav 2 try some back at my skul

as obo says "goalies aare amazing people"

    :)

  • Love it! Very good training!

    No pain no game!

    Goalies never complain!

  • at 7:30 or something like that you can see a tick of the green keeper, he had the feeling that his cloves come off ore something like that this takes time!!!! and it isn't so good at all.. It's basic if a keeper can't do all this stuff he isn't allowed to call himself keeper ;)

  • Cool! Goalkeepers are amazing people!

It's the best thing you can do: stop balls!

    I love it!

  • Nice video. To both of you, (but mostly to the guy in the red smock) try to stop dropping the knee of your trail leg and skidding after every kick of the ball. It looks nice, but isn't at all practical during game-play situations. You have some nice drills, but just need to work on basic stance/kicking technique so you can clear the ball further and without lifting it... ...and skidding half way down the pitch. Nice, however.

  • Awesome guys, Im missing this so much, Im stuck in switzerland without my Kit (Its back in SA)

  • hey guys not bad.... nice to see something on you tube worth watching for hockey! bit more work on the kicking thow. stop going to ground every time you kick the ball. keep upright, you have more controll over the ball. ie direction and you gonna keep the ball on the ground! not bad thow.

  • i play in goal for my school & club there r 2 problems every time i play for my club i have keep using the schools pads and my club said they will get me some and my next match is in a few weeks . plus i don't get any keeper traing so i have to going in with the outfields. it is really anoing

  • I am a junior national keeper and i also offer this kind of training at a high level and have a lot of students... there is just 1 problem! i cant get any1 to do this with me! its really crappy having to do a general practice when u get a few random shots at you with no1 to fix your mistakes!

  • i agree

  • great to see this guys, i'm a gaolie too in holland, i play in amsterdam B1 now. the training looked very profesional.

  • cool i wish i cud also gt this sessions ny more videos to train goalciii [:)]

  • 3.27 - Brilliant.

  • only some technical bits wrong, but you guys have good kicks at least. when you save to your right bring across your left hand tho for cover. lol

  • great guys!

  • when i see this movie i wish i was a goalkeeper and i could get these trainingsessions.. too bad im not good at it and im a better midfielder :P

    great vid!

  • from sliding my pad dropped and the oppositions strikers stick. sorry should have made it clearer

  • in one of the exercises, one of the keepers exposes his knee each save, the ex where they are running along the cones then going left or right. I split my knee open doing that in a game and it had me out of hockey for about 2months while it recovered so maybe ppl shouldnt copy that idea wen in a game

  • andwilki, do you mean by sliding you split your knee or from getting hit with a ball??

  • the guy in the green makes some amazing stick saves in the air, though i would bring my other hand over to help with the save

  • Man I feel inadequate now.

  • @SuperAJ1988 So do I.

  • Great sessions guys, picked up alot of tips for training, RESPECT !!!

  • You guys are making some sweet saves.
