One of the best modern drummers for sure. I loved him with Iced Earth (though Brent Smedley is also one hell of a drummer), Control Denied and Death. I love what he has done with Charred Walls - I think that he really succeeded in assembling a dream team for technical extreme metal. Mad skills, absolutely mad skills.

I think Richard got laid atop the world's tallest freestanding dormitory after the Inferno gig. We had a few other adventures after that but his incredible sense of humor and stellar drumming always stuck in my head.

This makes my heart swell! The first time I witnessed Richard's drumming was in my basement at 301 Pine St. in Normal IL. His then band Public Assassin ended up crashing at my house for a few days and decided to practice while they were there. Richard work ankle weights on his legs and arms while he practiced. It was the craziest thing I'd ever seen. After seeing them practice I ended up booking them at a punk show at Knox College and another at the Inferno in Normal.

I think that this is just a metaphor for the Howard Stern show. From the outside, they all appear to be dimwitted, shitheads who can't hold down a day job, but if you peel the curtain back, you see true talent with everybody associated with the show, people that are the first in their class in their field, or damn close to it. Now I hate the Charred Walls music, but I do appreciate the skill it takes to play the music at the speed they do. Bravo, Richard, thanks from down here on the farm!

Whoa. It's crazy to see goofy (and hilarious) Richard suddenly become this incredible musical genius the second he sits behind a drum set. Personally I'm not a big fan of technical metal music, but this is definitely a catchy song and really fun to watch.
