  • Gracias desde México D.F. Por el "tip"

  • Been to 9:30 many times.Still there last i heard. I think i saw Danny Gatton there one time but he usually played somewhere else. Saw Link Wray there. Lot of different shows. Lot of fun.Cant imagine what it is now.

  • Great videos. Wish theyde had youtube when i was starting out. Would have saved a lot of wear and tear on my thumb slowing down records. Saw Carl and his sons play the Birchmere one time. Carl was selling cutout bin records and doing the autograph thing. Still have mine.Way cool.

  • @redwashre I can't tell you how many legends I have seen play at the Birchmere. However, when I saw Carl he played at the 930 Club. Remember that place? I don't live in DC anymore but it was/is a club known more for its punk acts back when I saw him there in 1989. I couldn't believe I could just go up to him after the show and start a conversation with this rock ICON. A treasured memory.

  • where is the tab????????

  • swingggggingggg to this videoooooo

  • Can you consider doing some Reverend Horton Heat covers? You have the guitar and would love to see Bad Reputation or Galaxie 500.

  • Just wow! Amazing cover!

  • Perfect! Thank you!

  • Good guitar palying. Gouveia Fender man

  • thats obviously a ghost playing that guitar ;)

  • I recognized the Rev's sig model immediately! Cool as hell!

  • Many thanks for the info.................can't wait to hear it on Saturday at the gig!

    Keep up the good work!

  • Can you advise me on a suitable echo setting............I'm using a Boss GT 8 which seems to copy most things, however I can't recreate a suitable rockabilly/slapback echo!

Please help................your sound is excellent. I also have GretschG6121-1959

  • @lagojardin - If it displays milliseconds, set it at about 135. Then you'll want to set it for two or three repeats, with the first repeat being about 75% as loud as the initial attack and the others trailing off to where you barely hear them. The Boss GT8 is a good unit, should be no sweat.

  • I love you. You rock so fucking hard man

  • @UncleSam493 - Life is not a dress rehearsal, you've got one shot. You'd best make it good...

  • That´s so TRUE!!!!

  • @MyTwangyGuitar Love this comment.

  • Way too cool Sam!!!! Can't help but love rockabilly.

  • Marvelous!

  • Thanks for the great lessons!

  • Love youre guitar

  • awesome

  • i love your guitar

  • I've played guitar off and on for almost fifty years. I like playing blues especially doing Mississippi John Hurt's music. You're really a very good rock guitarist! Some of your chordings are original and very handy. In a rock vein, something I'd like to see is "Crazy" Joe Walsh's guitar breaks for Hotel California.

  • ah yea lets boogy baby

  • great song .better than the original.can you give an acoustic lesson please?

  • Salu J'adore trop commen tu joue, j'adore trop cette chanson est-ce qu'il serait possbile que tu detaille comment la jouer dans une autre video ? ou bien mettre le lien de la tablature stp ?

Hi, I love what you play, it's possible that you make a movie for teaching how to play this song or put the tab ? please

  • and nice playing btw x) 5/5*

  • awesome clear tone :)

  • IT Nice

    I like this

  • Lovely!! By the way, I'm a bit confused. Is this the 6120? It looks a bit different than the model I know. Please tell me because I NEED this guitar and I must know how to ask for it! :-)

  • Gretsch Reverend Horton Heat Model

This is the model of the guitar being used on this recording.

It is based on the 6120

  • oooo i love that tone it's so compressed sounding.... i love your style man you play everything and that takes skill to be that well rounded..... I hope i turn out to be as well rounded of a player as you man!

  • I've been playing this song for years and still can't get the sound like yours. Mainly because you're so smooth. I'm studying your video real hard. Great job.

  • That's a great sound! I really appreciate the vid! What are your delay settings? and what box do you use?

  • I don't know the first thing about playing a guitar, but you sound GREAT. I like your versions as much as the originals.

Was Duane Eddy a big influence on you.

  • @EbonyBunny1 - Absolutely. Some of the first videos I uploaded were Duane Eddy tunes. Thank you.

  • I have no musical ability whatsoever, but I do have a good ear, and I did notice, either intentionally or unintentionally, many of your songs sound Duane Eddyish, even the non rockabilly type songs. Which is a compliment. I like listening to you as much as the originals with the words. I'll look forward to your next videos.

  • @EbonyBunny1 - You don't have to be a musician to appreciate music. I thank you for the comparison to Mr. Eddy. Everybody thinks what he does is easy. When you hit a bad note in his style, the whole world hears it.

    Thanks for tuning in.

  • I love the old rock n roll style guitar playing, like in this song. I've learning a lot from watching how you play in these lessons, and really appreaciate your work.

I know you get lots of request...could I add Guitar Boogie Shuffle please? I reckon that's a great old 50s rock n roll tune that seems a bit forgotten these days.

    Many thanks, John

  • What Eminence speaker are you using ?

  • @jp6l6 - Whatever came stock in the Twin Reverb reissue. The ones that everybody pulled out because they thought they were no good.

  • Thank you and I had forgetten to tell you I like what you do, your sound and the slap back echo.

  • @jp6l6 - Thank you!

  • original!

  • All your videos are great. I wish I could use a flatpick like you do and only hit the strings I want. Would't Carl Perkins hybrid pick this tune?

  • @glockdoc - When I produce a video, I research audio and video. If you do a search for "Blue Suede Shoes", the first result will be a video of Carl Perkins flat picking the entire song.

  • Imagine someone with no talent and little ability. That's me. From my perspective, I've never been able to tell how Carl Perkins played rhythm parts. Sometimes it looks like he's grabbing the strings with his fingers that you are strumming while flatpicking the bass line. If I had musical talent or more ability then maybe it would be obvious that he's flatpicking while letting his fingers flail around.

  • Wow that was great

  • what gauge strings do you use?

  • 11-49 on the Gretsch 10-46 everything else.

  • Loved It!!!!! ***** Im Subscribing NOW!!!

  • that´s really good and step by step I am copying it - hope once I´ll play like you

  • sorry.. E and A

  • They're both major. I don't finger chords like most folks.

  • very, very nice!

what kind of E and D chord you used at this one?

  • Well done as always10*!!!!!

  • Nice playing, nice RHH 6120... You must be a nice guy! if you post the tab, plz leave the address here!

  • I'm slowing adding tabs to some of my stuff.

  • how many guitars do you own

  • I think 17, something like that...

  • Very great cover and would you have a tab, please ?

  • I picked it up by ear. I don't have tab.

  • Is that an echo chamber you are using for the rockabilly effect?

  • It's a Chandler digital echo.

  • I would love to see you give a lesson about how to improvise a Rockabilly solo !

  • very nice! I know your busy but if you find time in the futer I was hoping you could cover holly hop by Buddy. its a fast tune but sounds like mostly chords. After listening to you I have no doubt you can play it. thanks. I hope to see you play it one day

  • i can't tell you how glad you're here to deliver this kind of music. You got great stuff. And you play it like it never went away, Good job!! Back when music had feeling.

  • Thank you for your very generous comments.
