some killer whales hunt for sport. They seperate baby sperm whales away from their mothers in groups of 6, kill the calf and eat just their jaws, leaving the carcass to rott in the ocean. That's why they're called killer whales, because not all of them hunt instinctually for food but for fun.

The thing is, whereas most animals hunt prey smaller or equal in size to them, the mighty orca (which is actually a dolphin) will hunt and kill large whales and even great white sharks!
