Oh no....size doesn't matter. I have always raised fox squirrels which are by far the biggest. This year we got a batch of 5 baby reds in our rehab and let me tell ya.....the reds would most definately win. I have seen a tiny little red take down a 3 pound fox squirrel in a flash. And to whoever said squirrels are stupid....The Discovery Channel just did a documentary about the top ten smartest animals on the planet......squirrels are #7.

Somebody confirm or refute a wive's tale for me. I live in east Texas and we have both fox and grey squirrels (greys are called cat squirrels here). I have always heard one of them will attack and try to bite the males' balls off the other type. Sounds crazy but during mating season animals will sometimes do weird shit.

It seems Squirrels are more intelligent than people who write about them on youtube. The Greys didn't choose to come to Britain and it is just living it's life in the only way it knows how, true. The Red lived in balance with its suroundings, unfortunately some of it's preffered habitat has been destroyed by man but there is still plenty. Main reasons for decline are the Grey eats and stores food before ripe, Reds wont . Greys rapidly spread Squirrel pox which kills Reds in a horrible way.
