my first phone its an optimus one i have it rooted cm7 nightlie 20 and a lot of features that u can get with it
android adapts to you in a simple way but in symbian you need to adapt to symbian and no matter how u dont like the first view of ur phone ut can changes and give you the view you like so its pretty good but in symbian it dont gives a fuck it stays as it comes no matter if u update it its the same so android its to way better and faster and the best ui thx for read
this person obviously has no idea on how to use android and is probably just started using android for 1-2 hours before he uploaded that vid, i have no idea how the hell symbian can be better than android... i've been using symbian for 3 years, and all i can say is crap, BIG CRAP.
when i moved to android everything was simpler and better, and wasn't cheaply made...
if you cant handle android, crawl back into symbian's crappy ass.
In the task manager when he touched the opera mini , the app opened
But on my sgs running latest gingerbread when i open task manager , and click on any app , it won't switch to that app like in this video , but instead goes to a "appinfo" screen where you get the option to force close it (i hate this coming from symbian)
Thanks so much for this video, i'm a current N8 user, since Jan 2011, and have recently been considering an android OS phone. My mum just got the SGS2, the specs on it a fantastic, but the big turn off for me is the size, massive.
Have been curious as to how Android OS compares to Symbian. I'm using Symbian Anna now.
What to say..i have N8 for about 4 months, its 2 weeks in the service though but comes after tommorow:) At that time i was using my girlfriend SGS2 and all i can say is..MATES..I TOUGHT I HAVE PROPER PHONE (IT WAS TOP RANGE NOKIA MONEY CAN BUY AT THAT TIME!!)..AND ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE SPEED,UI,BROWSING,MULTITASKING,GAMING..,ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING!! Mine close to this looks like from stone age!! The only thing which is worth is the..camera..never Nokia again!! Not at this prize!!
i dont mean to troll or rant but your video is SOOOO STUPID lern to use your phone mate, i have a SG2 and idk what your talking about symbian being this "amazing" os u kidding me mate idk all i can say is lern to use the phone propperly and u close apps useing the back botton thats the "in built exit botton" -__-
@TheSynthMonkey fair enough points on closing the app. the point of the video was deliberately to have my thoughts as my first transition tho so of course there would be noob moments. Have a look at my part 2 as well tho. my main points are that the n8 as a phone and not just the os still has aspects I miss as I have start using about 75% of my time with the GS2 now - mainly cuz I browse the net more than anything else.
@TheSynthMonkey You dont always close the app with the back button stupid. It mostly just goes into a standby mode. Really "closing" an app can only be achieved with the task manager. I love android don't get me wrong, but don't go yelling that someone else is wrong when you don't even now how it works yourself.. Oh and: at least try to spell correctly, "cuz diz is SOOOOO STUPID". Thanks <3
dude are you applying that symbian is a better and faster OS than Android ??? u need a brain surgery ... excuse me for my roodenes but u do .. if u take 1 hour of your lifetime and customize ur sgs2 u get a lightening superfast and easy accesable phone.. god some ppl surprise me
@gavrilaeugen prob galaxy nexus imo but screen will be too big prob for many people - my perfect size would be around 4 inches. Have you tried symbian belle (google how to flash- pretty easy)? It makes n8 feel better but speedwise still no way close to my gs2. I reckon now that gs2 is a bit cheaper as well its a great buy. When i first got the gs2 was prob swapping between n8 and gs2 50% but now more like 80% using gs2 mainly cuz it just feels faster. dont play with apps much anymore.
I am worried about Nokia, they need to watch out more because apples iphone 4s comes with powerfull 8mp cam with dual core processor, symbian or WinMo need to evolve or die like dinosoars, which i don't want. I hope they come out with something solid. Fingers crossed.
@dubo321 yeah thanks, i switch between opera and dolphin as my main browsers...opera seems to zoom in a bit faster into pages (but skips frames) but dolphin does a smooth zoom which takes a fraction bit longer. otherwise dolphin has virtually 100% success rate with loading the desktop version of sites so i switch when i need to.
When u plug in the USB, just slide down the notification bar...not everyone wants to goto mass storage mode so sliding down from top to bottom should simplify the complicated process u used
@dubo321 oh i c.. I tried but notification bar doesnt have the shortcut? plug in usb>phone goes to kies mode. if i exit, there is still no shortcut in the notification bar...
The only way i can get the shortcut is if i go thru my steps as per my vid, then after disconnecting I get a shortcut in the notification bar?
Moot point after kies is installed tho-I just noted it since my nokias have always allowed mass storage once cable is connected & I use itfor managing my own files on phone that way.
1. Battery life,-24% in 8hrs, standby, no 3G, no wifi, no bluetooth, no gps and no apps running in background
2. Apps eat lots of RAM for some reason, easily 3/4 used
3. messaging no inbox, sent, outbox... etc view. Only conversation, maybe because i've always been a symbian users back in the days, (sgs2 my first android)
4. google map download not supported in my country
5. no samsung music Hub in my country :( so only 3hub~
So how is it going with android? Do you miss your n8? I am in the process of getting a new phone, I was confused between symbian, android and ios? After watching your video I am gonna go for symbian (n8), its easy to use. The biggest problem with android is battery life, for me battery is no 1 priority.
@TheSuperdrymovies Hey, loving the GS2 - key thing being the browsing experience and general speed going between different menus. I use my N8 two days a week still to share the love. Battery not ideal but bearable & I had to charge each night whether I was on N8 or GS2 anyway (N8 prob 40-50% remaining, GS2 10% to 25%) but on weekends if I'm out with my GS2 usually doesn't last the whole day and night since I'll get home later. Nice range of apps w/ android but I find I only use a lot once.
@TheSuperdrymovies if battery is not the first priority for you, go for android. symbian is technically the worst operating system out of all 3 operating systems listed. though their cameras are great, but the UI, responsiveness and overall usability of the phone totally suck.
@TheSuperdrymovies but nokia is moving to windows phone. it's hard to understand why the producing such nice work when they switching house, i like belle but won't get it because i might not get support for it.
@Thegreyraccoon Because Symbian was taking to much time and too much money to keep up with the market. It used to lead, but has taken too long to address its UI shortcomings. As well, an ecosystem comprises much more than just the OS. At the end of the day, Nokia is transitioning because it believes WP will make it more competitive and more profitable over the long term.
What??? compare n9 with gs2.. why comparing a year old phone with this?? even though you did it..but did you notice any reviewer does'nt point out these things they just show the browser and says its like hell... i mean they should got hell
@Memoonk well..the point wasn't to compare N8 specifically...this vid is more to share experiences ppl may have going from symbian to android..even tho i know i did say some stuff specific to n8...
also all the latest s3 phones are still on essentially the same platform.
If you really are worried about you're task manager, install advanced task manager from the market! Simple.
Ps. Glad that you swiched to Android :)

Is it only a feature of sgs2 (or touchwiz 4.0)
Or any mod that has been APPLIED ??

@quagmyre2 you are new to the os , there is a lot you need to learn
i'll just give you a little tip for starters: DON'T CLOSE APPS! EVER!
i really liked nokia when i had it, and the moment that nokia will make an android phone i will buy it no matter how good/bad it will be
but symbian is just not good enough, and wp7 sucks
