When I saw him 1982 at the swing auditorium in San Berdoo he was quite heavy. While doing the guitar solo, he laid down on his back, and started sliding all over the stage. It had to be clever wire-work. They put on a really good show. Con-Funk-Shun was on the ticket as well.

Roger is doing it on the synthesizer and talkbox but he was killing that guitar. His sound - his musical mastery - his stage presence - his delivery - bam, bam, bam on point. When you hear these songs you can't help but move. Don't get me wrong I cant move like I used to, but I can stand in one spot and work it, especially when my man and Zapp are jamming.

just a little education for ppl calling this a "vocoder," Zapp is actually using a device called a "talk box" (which is what the tube is.) it's quite different than, say, a software vocoder used to make songs like Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek. furthermore, both methods are completely different than forced auto-tuning, first popularly used in Cher's Believe and Daft Punk's One More Time, and now popularly used in a lot of pop songs (a la T-Pain, etc.) you can wiki any of these terms for more info.
