  • @Bert

  • Marjafather mother

  • 버렸던 딸래미 덕보고 사니 밥이 넘어갑니까 아주머니? 미안하지도않을까..

  • I kept thinking "who does she remind me of" and then I read a comment saying she somewhat favors Queen Latifah. That's who she puts me in the mind of.She very pretty and so is her personality.

  • FIGHTING Mrs. MALJA ! KOREAN HERE FOR YU INCLUDE ME ~ :] ALWAYS WELCOME ! ^-^

  • I once dated a half /black half white ( mix race ) girl at first I though all was well, until you dig deep. Then you find out how screw-up and hurt some of these kids are due to their parents selfish and reckless pursue of lust , sexual fantasy - not thinking about their kids emotions. Shame on both parents.

  • @Gluluman oh shit wtf

  • @Gluluman True on most of what you said and i want to add that since the Korean war up to late 80s, young mothers who had to raise kids in still growing country had to give up their kids because they couldn't take care of themselves let alone a child or two. Also, in Korea if you don't have kids and are married or of certain age you are deemed odd and less of a woman back in the day. Nowadays its more modern and doesn't have that stigma anymore, but it used to be that way

  • This makes me so sad: That a mother and a daughter had to live separated because of racism and prejudice. I can't believe she was as old as three when she was given up for adoption. That had to be traumatic as HELL!!!! Marja obviously has a beautiful and open heart to forgive and love despite what she has been through. She is as beautiful on the inside as she obviously is on the outside. I'll definitely be keeping up with her and her shows for sure. Good luck to you Marja, as if needed! Love you

  • she kinda look like QUEEN LATIFAH

  • I really like how this piece doesn't whitewash the tragedy of the story by trying hide the fact that racism and hardships of growing up biracial in korea was a large factor in this woman's adoption. South Korea was one of the poorest countries in the world back then not the wealthy nation it is now and life was tragic and difficult for everyone.

  • race? it only exists socially, in our minds. there is more genetic variety in fruitflies (?forget which animal) than in the human race.

  • @bubbles02010 no lol. what you mean is that there are more genetic variations between individuals of the same race than between the mean of races. for example everyone who wins the Olympic 100 meter is black because blacks genetically have more fast twitch muscles and are faster but take any black and any asian and it's impossible to tell which individual would be faster. same with IQ, blacks have 15-30 less IQ than whites. but depends on individual doesn't mean race doesn't exist. how ignorant.

  • @shalom1948hellyeah thnx for the examples and better explanation! wait, are u saying i'm ignorant? T_T no i'm not... i'm just not as smart as i want to be.. i agree with you.

  • Jean Georges is a legend.

  • @EtheralLuv etal. Korean Adoptees tend to sublimate their "identity" as a coping mechanism. Some "get over it" in or after college.

Since most are full Koreans adopted by white families they live with the dichotomy of having an Asian exterior and a self image of white. One possible justification against International/trans racial adoption.

  • @EtherealLuv

well she is not black now lMAO

  • @tanio12 lol. I was being sarcastic. She actually is half black. But she was more in touch with being black then. No big deal, it just surprised me to see how she is now.

  • @EtherealLuv I'm sure she's 'black' as she's 'korean'.

  • @EtherealLuv unfortunately even 10 years ago she was "black." the concept of bi racial simply was not acceptable to American black folks back then trying to enforce the orthodoxy of the "one drop rule." I'm sure even back then she felt the part of her that was Korean. If she wasn't able to express it due to racism from both blacks and whites then makes me feel even more deeply for her.

She does look kind of like Latifa she was really gorgeous as a child in those pictures though.
