Mustang II Startup, 289

Hey, i'vegot a similar set up as this that the bottom end and heads were all done(motor was a drag motor out of a fox .69 block .30 over...fully decked out to the max 72 351w heads.i converted everything over to work with my 94.it runs like a mad man and had a tune made but it wont idle and been tryingto figure out what cam i got, cuz its a flat tappet 1,5 firing order.i had the heads into the machinist he said the spring pressure for 500 lift range cams and its got a hell of a lope.what ur cam?

Boy you aint kiddin, about spending the money. I just put a 363 stroker in my II. I put a blower on last year, course Ive had my II since it was new in 1976, so it was past due

Best advice I could probably give would be to be prepared to spend lots of money and good luck finding parts.

With using parts on ebay, you can build a 400hp 306 with about $2500; for than kind of horsepower it's well worth the money! .030 bored block with flat top pistons with 2 valve reliefs, 58cc heads,x303 roller cam, dual plane intake 1500-7000 power band, and a holley 600cfm.

Sweet car! What type of mufflers and mid pipe (if any) are you running?

Hedman longtube headers into 2 1/4" pipes with a pair of flowmaster 40 series and no midpipe.

ohh nice!! Why not run 2 1/2 or even Three? do you find the flowmasters are loud because I seen way to many cars with em and their really quiet!

any bigger and it would just rob torque from a small displacement V8. the flowmasters sound awesome. its the cat's and crossover pipes that kill the sound on all the later model vehicles. having a long duration cam also helps ;)

My older sister had a friend that owned a Cobra II. I have a special place in my heart for that car because I had a huge crush on her friend!!lol. Not to mention I've owned every variation of Mustang from a 1984 1/2 GT350 to my current 07' S197. So yeah, I'm a huge mustang fan.
