  • Great video but you should never play such high frequencies through a sub that's why it cought fire in the first place. Invest in a crossover. I saw what looked to be a glimpse of a qsc plx amp. The plx02 and 04 models have crossovers built in. Nice job on the recone though.

  • i know that song lol

  • Damn thew them speakers out! Could of reconed em. Thats what everybodys thinking.... Nice vid thanks man.

  • bravo sir you are the boss of speakers

  • whats that fuckin song playin at the end????

  • shouldent u have a crossover on that sub ?

  • what's the name of the song at the end? 8:05

please tell me how the song is called at 8:05 finally die after that song

  • damn dude you sound black

  • great vid man :)

Vrey helpful and its awesome that you could save that much money reconing it yourself.

  • nice job

  • 1:48 "i like gay porn!" LOL

  • It's very good of you to go through this so carefully. I have an old three-speaker set of Accustats. The subwoofer is huge. Do you know how I find out which replacement kit I should buy? Also, I wasn't sure what you were talking about when you referred to soldering something. I don't know how to solder and don't have any of the equipment for soldering. Might there be someone who could do this for me for a fair price?

  • Djing is a great career to get into. I might be doing it soon too. I'm glad to see that you repaired it wrather than tossing it. Props to you Caz!! Keep up the good work!!

  • HAHAHAHAHAH I CANT STOP LAUGHING AT THE SUBTITLES!!! XDDDDD lol if you want to LAUGH SO HARD YOO CRY< READ THE SUBTITLES!!! XD

  • thanks for this video. I've read about 'shimming' the speaker but until I saw it done I didn't really get it. I'm sure you made it look easier than it really is. LOL!

  • that's huge ass speaker..!

  • Yo, thanks so much for doing this video. I just brought a set of EV Force I subs to go with my EV Force 25 I's and within three weeks I blew one of my subs. I paid to get it repaired by a EV service tech and it cost me $150. The speaker kit only cost 92 bucks. But I will be using your video for any other speaker repairs I have in the futur. Thanx again, from a DJ to another DJ.

  • Thanks man for the video. very very helpful.

  • This is genuine JBL kit? Where can I buy it. I need it for a MP415. I need a kit for the driver too.

  • i am looking to recone my 12'' kenwood KFC-W3011. i have no idea where to start so could you please help me in finding the right recone kit?

  • cool you done that job very well cool not bad for first time much better than i thought it would have turn out. respect:)

  • What's up with the spider? Does it need to be pushed or something while glueing? That wasn't clear in your vid. Still good job!

  • Good Job man!! Nice video to watch...

In my city, Quebec city, refoam and reconing cost 130$ canadian dollard at the store (specialyst about audio/speakers sales an repair of these. So plus taxes = 154$.

God bless me i dont have to try this myself ...lol

    :D

  • and saved some money.

  • Right on for fixing your speaker man. I try to take care of my stuff, but when it does break, it feels good to fix it yourself instead of just throwing it away. I fix everything, my car, my stereo equipment, my house, you name it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't but it's fun to learn how stuff works, so if you have to throw it away, at least you learned something.

  • 5:27 - Is this Adventura? I have a song by them called "Tell me Why" and the sound is similar to this.

  • 1:47-1:50 ''gayporn''?:|

  • @EclipseEDM LMFAO

  • @BlacRiot hahaha

  • @BlacRiot i lika da sk8tborda!

  • @bentboybbz It really sounds like "I look at gayporno!" xD

  • @BlacRiot Personally I’d use a sine wave tones at 20Hz or lower to make sure its not scrapping.

WoW seems like it all worked out smoothly.

JBL is the best of the best.

  • @BlacRiot That’s also a good saving over the entire cost of new one.

  • @EclipseEDM i heard "skateboard"

  • @EclipseEDM Hahah i so heard that!!

  • @EclipseEDM "i Like The Gayporn"?????

  • @EclipseEDM LMFAO XD

I'm pretty sure he says "I like it skateboard."LMFAO

  • @EclipseEDM I definitely heard "I like gay porn"

  • good sshit

  • (Fellow DJ here) DUDE.... This video is stellar...5 stars is not enough....need 10 here.. It now gives me confidence that I could do something like this in case I bar-b-cue a woofer on one of my gigs(which is very rare that I do)...and another 5 stars for your son Miles for a kick ass job on the filming of this video...

  • nice vid! great detail. now i'll know how to do it if i ever need to

  • wow that's pretty simple...might just have to buy up some busted subs and recone em...peace

  • Great Job Caz! Thank You for that info and thank you and MU for being the dj company that i can learn from God Bless

You and your Family Keep Doing it.

    D.J. Joe Raymond,Calif.

  • @jraymond1000 Thanks homez.

  • @BlacRiot Yeah man,I started doing this first when I was 19yrs old,I'm 32 now..Its fun if you have the time and patience for it.I would replace my cars JL audio suspensions constantly. Thanks for the great vid! I'm sure this will help a lot of people revive their subs, though, sometimes, you just don't get the same sound, might sound better,or might sound not as good as before, all depends on the parts you use for the magnet.I love making my own. From the magnet up=)I have 10-10's in my car.I love bass

  • @BlacRiot Looks Like A JBL JRX-100 :D

  • very good explanation, i have also my woofers

reconed in 2005 at the same way as you and the

    are perfect working.

  • its always teste

  • big funky tune at the end!

  • Love Aventura man! Nice work

  • Good job , very Informative., :)

  • thank you. this information was very useful. my JBL control monitors may have to be done but I don't think I have your skill. bravo!

  • i swear your skin is white.....but your voice fools me...good job ^^

  • What are you saying? Be clear.

  • I have no idea who was using this account sorry BlacR ... I dunno what they were talking about probably drunk using my account lol....I dont even own speakers so I wouldnt personally have any reason to check this page out...again I apologize for.. the weird comment on your page have a nice Day.

  • @BlacRiot I think it's pretty obvious what dude is trying to say. I'm guessing your Latino personally, but it really doesn't matter, your sharing some good helpful info, and I say Kudos to you for that regardless of what race you are. I have a pair of vintage 12's (1974 Philips Ticonal) that need new dust caps, and your video taught me a few tricks that make me less apprehensive about doing it without screwing up. Thanks...

  • You did a nice job of explaining. A few tips if it is OK, use heavy bond computer paper & cut a letter size sheet in half length wise. This will create a shim for positioning your kit in the speaker with less chance of damage while inserting the kit. How you insert the paper shim is in a circle around the pole piece 2 times. Phil

  • Nice job.. I see a lot of people using sandpaper or the dremel for cleaning. Personally I never use them as they scatter to much metal debris and dust around my work area which I can't have and that cost me time to clean up. A good sharp knife and proper technique does just fine.

  • JBL does not sell the original recone parts to the public. I foyu are buying a "kit" from soundspeakerrepair, then you are buying aftermarket copies.

  • haha verry nice man i knew u was latin haha 10+

  • wow it looks so easy but id probly never get this done right well i have a tweeter i need fixxin but i don't have any kits for it and theirs probily none out there but nice video i will refer back to this

  • Don't give up on your speaker man. Keep looking until you find one, try searching for "Diaphragm" or,tweeter, and the make of your tweeter on google. It's usually quite easy replacing the diagraphams in tweeters

  • I'm going to be tackling my first recone soon on a soundstream XXX 15.I will definitly using thiis vid for referance.Great instructional video man...

  • Nice vid man!!!....that final track is hot! were do i get/find it at???

  • if you are using that speaker/sub for the home audio. you should get an electric crossover if you dont got one.

it will help alot more and sound alot better and also it will keep your speaker alive longer.

  • Comment removed

  • nice job. now i know how to do this for my dj speakers good way to save some money

  • did the 189sw recone kit come in seperate parts? if so, how did your recone go?

  • nice job. its sometimes possible to use a wood chisel to get the old glue off the frame.

  • thank you this was very hilpfull

  • Thanks many friend....I just blew 4 bins in one clip yesterday....I usually send the speakers out for reconing....I'm going to try it myself this time...btw, did the glue and shims come with the kit ?

  • Yes, everything you'll need is in the kit.

  • Caz

couldn't sleep so was searching around checking out whats going on in latin house world ,,and came across reconing a spreaker thing I watched the whole thing LOL don't need to do any reconing but was very entertained ,thanks John Kano aka Havana Funk

  • how much would it have sucked if the drill slipped and poked a hole in the cone when you were putting it back in the cab haha

but seriously its happened to me before it sucks

  • i was thinking the same thing lol. you would be gutted!

  • Do you have to worry about a breaking period after doing this?

  • Wow, after watching this vid, reconing is a lot easier than it seems, LOL! Looks and sounds great. Itz better to fix it yourself than have someone else do it or replace it and not only that, it rewarding too.

  • waoo great job man, nice and neat!!! But, where did you get that cone? Is there any store in the web that you know?

  • Thanks for the comment, The link is in the description.
