Provided an f250 and a 2500 were both ext. cab 4x4s and both gas or diesel, and have the same tires and ride height the Ford will have more traction due to having more weight. Now , in a trailer pulling contest, say, up a hill, then power is the deciding factor. Their again Ford wins. 4.6>4.8. 5.4>5.3, 6.8>6.0,6.2 and the new 6.7>Duramax. Look it up if you dont believe me.

He was in construction/home remodeling etc. Anyway, his trailer was about 6500 lbs(dont remember exactly) and his z71 DID NOT pull that trailer as easily as my truck did. And my truck has the higher geared 3.55 rear. I assume his had a 3.73. That is sad on his trucks part. Theres a reason chevy offers a 6.2.

I like fords alright, in fact I almost bought one but the quality difference from a ford and chevy of the same year model was rediculous. Chevy was way ahead of ford when it came to updated quality in there trucks, ford was stuck in the 90's untill 2004.

One company makes their trucks better, a few years later the other companys update theirs. Its competiton.
Then your idea of easy towing isnt a very good one. I have pulled with a 5.3 chevy before. Ony about 6500 lbs give or take, and while it did indeed pull it without failure, it did struggle to do so. Maybe your truck has a low ass rear gear, idk. Im not going to sit here and exchange storys with you. @bhowell8482 It wouldnt have to. The 5.4 makes its max torque at 2500. The older ones anyway, like mine. Newer ones make it at 3700. 5.3s make their max at 4500. A 5.4 would not need to rev nearly as high to make its max power to pull. the majority of Forums i have been to say as I have said. Even if the trucks did pull evenly, you must still consider: A ford truck weighs more than a similar chevy and Fords come with 3.55 rear. Most chevys get a 3.73.
@bhowell8482 Just look up torque specs. My 02 makes 350 ft lbs at 2500. Even a brand new 5.3 makes 338 at 4500. 7 years newer, 12 ft lbs less, AND does it at a much higher rpm. It would make even less if it were at 2500, a better place to reach max torque in a truck. Listen to me when I tell you this, there is a reason chevy offers bigger v8s than a 5.3 in the 1/2 tons and does NOT offer the 5.3 in 3/4 tons. Bc they cant cut it. Check and Mate.
