The older you two young guys get, the more you will appreciate the ride you just got in this gorgeous automobile. Trust me on that. In 1948, this Buick was considered one of the best cars available on the market, at any price.
Why does it get hot? I thought mine is just broken but upon watching this video, is there a way to keep the temperature low? aside from installing air condition?
@xionlim21 You can have A./C. installed on your car through a company called "VintageAir". It may take away a little power from the engine but, on the open road, you will not notice it and the trade-off is well worth it. Installed for around $3,000.00. Not a bad price. Take out a personal loan.
GREAT ORIGINALl car! - Buicks of the 40's are my favorite cars. '48 was the last year you could get standard 3 speed on Roadmaster. I love the way the transmission sounds through the gears - it's something I remember as a young kid. The directional signal lever is on the same side as the gear shift in 48. I can't get over how big the steering wheels were.
Awesome ride! You don't see that many 48 Buicks, let alone one that's original and unrestored. I love the sound of the horn. Enough to convince anyone in your way to get the hell out of the way!
Straight 8 Buicks are the BEST!! I own 3 drivers plus 8 parts cars. I have a 1947 Super 4dr with 21,000 miles, a 1947 Roadmaster convertible and a 1948 Roadmaster sedan like this one, only mine has a DynaFlow. They are fast and powerfull!!
Hi , I Used to have a 46 Buick Special, The Cylinders near the firewall tend to get pretty hot , I bumped into on old Guy who had a 1940 Buick...it was ex US Army and he Bought it in 1945 ..he said to use Glycol as a coolant ..the same stuff as in Aircraft cooling systems. I never tried it though.
Don't you just love it, a 48 Roadbuster flat out! That is what 320 cubic inches of Buick OHV straight 8 will do for ya!! Oh and thanks for the EASY A reference. Split that cars exhaust and mount some Walkers and then it will really walk and talk!!
Yeah..older Buicks tended to heat up a lot. This was a problem.

Going 75 I can hear that 4.3 axle ratio turning the straight 8 about 3,100 RPM! I love the sound of those 40's GM transmissions through the gears!
