  • they should give these out instead of medal of honors

  • @123420727 then it would mean as much because at least 10 medals of honor are given out each go around

  • @123420727 Hell of an incentive to earn a Medal of Honor! People would be killing each other for them - no pun intended.

  • Not one was the same?????????? OK!

  • Yeeey I'm from Monterrey! cheers.

  • Well look at that ! : who would have thought that Dan Akroyd was an appraiser ?

  • 1:10 for the most elaborate rebuke ever.

  • This is so sick...

  • I personally consider that a national treasure. $200,000? Pfffftt... No price can be placed on freedom.

  • undoubtedly if just because of the appreciation in the price of gold, this is worth much more.

  • hey what about the mobile from arizona worth 1million I thinik.. It's not in your top 10!

  • @EwaY83 Holy cow! Thanks for pointing me to that! How did I miss it?

I'll get to putting it up and re-arranging the videos soon. Thanks again!

  • @EwaY83 The what?

  • @baffinjigger mobile!?

  • Its actually too cheap for a piece of important history to America.AND ITS SOLID GOLD!If I had the money I would have paid probably $800,000 for it.No joke. This is beautiful and remarkable. And prestige!:O

  • I have commented before about the appraisals on this show. How can this be worth less than some pos painting that means nothing? This is a historical item.

  • @caddop22 Well a lot of it depends on the auctioneer too. These are usually USUALLY about 50% their actual price, due to the way auction prices work, so a lot of it eventually comes down to what an experienced auctioneer thinks you can get in the current climate.

  • True that it sounds too little for it, those estimations are only estimations not the value it could potentially reach on auction. If you get two rich bidders wanting this sword, you'll never now.

  • Thats the best looking sword ever

    AND I WANT IT!

    NOOOOOOOOW

  • 200 grand???? Pffft... Gimme a break !! That's so cheap !! It's WRONG.

  • Back in 1984,

I bought a light sabre from K-mart that has an enscription that says it was presented by Yoda.

  • @themightycelestial $150.00

  • @themightycelestial back in 1984 I could throw a light sabre over those mountains

  • lol ONLY 200k? I would price this at 800k+ at LEAST. The simple fact that its made of Gold already makes its value shoot up, but since its also 1 of 5 in the Entire World and the ONLY sword to like that, should make its value go up even more. I sure hope he didnt end up selling that thing for near 200k.

  • 200 grand dont cut it today, this is a museums piece and im pretty sure a big museum would pay over a mill for it

  • That thing would make an awesome back-scratcher

  • Wow, he was excited. Might as well donate it to a museum.

  • wow the ONLY sword like this on earth, worth 200 grand..? not enough..

  • Back in the old days you got gold swords...now you get a small medal as an honor. Talk about missing the old days!

  • its a great sword, but not a great sword.

  • I remember seeing the a few years back. What an amazing peice of history!

  • I agree, some of these experts do deliberately undervalue some of the stuff, which is so criminal..

  • I agree..I'd have to add the man with the chief's blanket... third place... was also sincere in his reaction..

  • That thing is freaking awesome. I'd love to own it.

  • he was sitting on on a national treasure .. 200 k .. spare me .. a private collector .. a presidents honor .. one of 5 cmon .. thats easily priceless .. the gold becomes cheap after those facts .

  • why would you sell a tresure like that

  • There are $200,000 reasons I can think of plus the fact that the sword does not disappear because it's sold. A new owner will take pleasure in owning it. It's now someone else's treasure. It's a wonderful thing when you think about it. Someone becomes wealthy and someone else gets an incredible treasure. What could be wrong with that? Besides, with the price of gold going up over the past few years.. This will be worth more than $200,000 in it's gold content alone.

  • i wish swords were still popular.

  • @ohwello

While the weapon may be attractive, it would be close to useless in modern warfare. So I don't see them being produced on a wide scale in the near future.

  • Wow. I just learned about the Mexican-American War in school. APUSH is following me! :0

    Cool sword though. :)

  • I would have to find the other 5 sword owners confront them in a dark alleyway and let them know there can be only one. Hope it holds a good edge, decapitation is not as easy as it sounds.

  • they under value everything on the antiques roadshow.... crooked shikesters...

  • solid gold? holy crap

  • now thats fuckin badass.. shoulda got first

  • That guys looks not too happy. I think he thought he was sitting on a goldmine.

  • that sword looks beautiful

  • Wow.

  • Hey, who doesn't want a lump of gold?

Though in it's ornamental state, I'm sure you'd have gotten a little more for it.

  • maybe I shouldn't have melted the other one down, then. I still have the blade though, and the case and the bag,

plus I got a big lump of gold.

I'll take $150,000 for it as it is now

  • i wouldnt even sell that

  • shouldn't that be "no two are the same"?

  • The guy who brought it in didnt seem too impressed with the valuation...

  • Maybe he already knew what he had? Not all of these roadshow people are bumbling slack-jaws.

  • I think if you have a solid gold sword that has engraved on it "presented by the President of the United States of America," you're gonna expect it to be worth a fair sum.

  • That is far more than a reasonable statement!

  • @DetectiveOlivaw - If you had a SOLID GOLD sword of that age and with that kind of craftsmanship, it wouldn't even matter if the engraving said, "Presented by Mary Suckwell, Village Prostitute."

  • @johnnytastetest DUDE! You know Marry too?

  • i would rather see a bunch of people who had no idea what price their objects were.

    makes a great reaction.

  • old bastard probably thought it was worth atleast a million.

  • @jahizbarlas

Chances are he knew the value - most people show up to this thing KNOWING what their expensive stuff is worth, just to show it off on TV!

  • That blade looks amazing, i thought it would be atleast verging on half a million

  • if you melted it down for the gold, it would be worth 500,000, plus the topaz.

  • Not a chance of it! Gold isn't that valuable particularly not when you consider the historical value of the piece!!!

  • bling bling

  • The appraiser was getting emotional at the end.

  • beautiful

  • Better keep that Russ Prichard guy away from this.

  • tat

  • rofl

  • Amazinggg.:D

  • Not very gaudy, eh? ;) Very cool.
