AS soon as you give your vocalist control over what your bands sound is, the guitarist leaves the band. J is amazing, no need to put any attention on the sound FX. You spend your life playing and practicing the guitar and someone presses a couple keys and it makes a song, NO! SFX are not metal, let alone music. Listen to the Deftones to see how real metal should sound.
It's a song codenamed "Shuffle Song", although there was another song that was entirely different from The Real Thing with the same code name. This particular "Shuffle Song" never got used because apparently the band could never agree on the sound of it. watch?v=CIy3lpmQ16A Check out this vid at the 10 minute mark.
Roddy's father passed away during the KFAD era album.. not Angel Dust. Probably the drugs at this point? Maybe the pressure of not coming out then till the following year of 93?
Anytime, brother. It seems that Roddy's drug use got quite bad around this point as well, according to an old keyboard player magazine that I just read to see which situation it was: His dad had passed away at this point.
I reckon its a very early rough take of Everythings Runined. The key change at the end of the rising progression leading into the bass guitar leads me to think that. On the other hand I may be talking shit
I feel like this is where Patton got the inspiration for the seagulls at the beginning of "Sweet Charity" on Mr. Bungle's California album. Just maybe.
@lecanadien489 ya know, that's kinda what i was thinking too...you see him have a sort of light bulb moment in his head and his eyes get all big like his gears are turning....Thanks for pointing it out
hahahahaha listen to this at the start talking about candy, they are all talking about it,yeh yeh share it around.we got a bunch of candy.wheres the candy.those guys a rebig kids at heart.
Yeotao, I completely disagree with you. If the band is connected and everybody really want to do the best music, everybody will be giving suggestions on everybody works. That's what a real band is, that's no such thing as "my" guitar parts, or "my" drum fill. It's the band's guitar parts, the band's drum fills.
Sometimes the keyboard world is so incrediably diverse tat the rest of the band cat help but have different ideas of what they want frm their keyboardist. they shld have left roddy alone ,respect him, and let him establish his own roots and identity in the band. roddy prob didnt and wouldnt say shit about wat bass effects and guitar effects the band shld use.
it is really sad where music has turned to these days with all these screamo-o emo bands. this is what real musicians are and what real music is, each person having their own style and still in a badass band and that is faith no more.
Roddy said in an interview that he's surprised that more people didn't realize that he was gay. I never knew, but I guess the Brian Austin Greene t-shirt should have been a dead give away.
I think this was recorded just after his father died, so he was going through a tough time. Supposedly he had some problems with drugs aswell at the time.
I emailed Billy Gould not long ago about this song, and he said it didn't make it on the album and was never finished. Mike Bordin has the tape somewhere in his basement.
They worked this much on 30 seconds of a song, but never used it. :D I'm curious if they have 'basement tapes' like that? Maybe one day they will dust them off and release them.
By the time patton got to fnm, they had already made all the music to "the real thing", they gave it to several singers to write lyrics and they chose pattons lyrics. He wrote all the lyrics to that album, but not the music, it was given to him ready. epic is epic!
