  • That boy loves his candy!

  • this shit is fucking hilarious

  • that story about the lady and the cat/bag is crap. Who would keep the cat to take it to the SPCA

  • AS soon as you give your vocalist control over what your bands sound is, the guitarist leaves the band. J is amazing, no need to put any attention on the sound FX. You spend your life playing and practicing the guitar and someone presses a couple keys and it makes a song, NO! SFX are not metal, let alone music. Listen to the Deftones to see how real metal should sound.

  • @mmakowski314 LOL, gotta miss Jim Martin, Patton was a dick with hem in Angel Dust tour

  • Needs more seagull.

  • Monks and Seagulls: "A Small Victory"

  • To everyone that doesn't know which song this is:

It's a song codenamed "Shuffle Song", although there was another song that was entirely different from The Real Thing with the same code name. This particular "Shuffle Song" never got used because apparently the band could never agree on the sound of it. watch?v=CIy3lpmQ16A Check out this vid at the 10 minute mark.

  • Hello! Do someone here have a contact to Matt Wallace?

He produced a band called Udora few years ago.

maybe an email or myspace, whatever...

    watch?v=f7HzScOJP9g

  • Try it on another album.....Hahahahaaaaaa

  • Roddy's father passed away during the KFAD era album.. not Angel Dust. Probably the drugs at this point? Maybe the pressure of not coming out then till the following year of 93?

  • Comment removed

  • roddys kind of a dick here, whats his problem?

  • @ghostwhiskey

His dad was either dying at this point or had just recently passed away.

This was a very difficult session for him, from what I understand.

  • damn man,i had no idea, but i after hearing that i completely understand his behavior, thanx for telling me

  • Anytime, brother. It seems that Roddy's drug use got quite bad around this point as well, according to an old keyboard player magazine that I just read to see which situation it was: His dad had passed away at this point.

  • 8:00 and 8:20

  • HAHA Mike's boylike amusement to seeing wax on the swab XD

  • So they put the seagulls in the beginning of Caffiene. wow.

  • "That's what my feet smell like...earwax."

  • lol monks and seagulls!! XD

  • Haha who isn't stoned in that room...

  • Probably Patton, he's never done drugs.

Might have got a contact high, though.

  • @thegirl44

uhh he smoked cigarettes and drank beer?

that would be a drug lol

now meth and shit like that he hasn't touched

  • never done drugs, oh my what rock did you just l out from??

  • So hard to work out what songs they are trying to record?

  • ....I can fart the album backwards... but I still don't get for sure which song is running...

  • I reckon its a very early rough take of Everythings Runined. The key change at the end of the rising progression leading into the bass guitar leads me to think that. On the other hand I may be talking shit

  • where did they think they were going musically with Monks and seagulls, haha

    classic Faith No More.

  • who knew M&M'S played a such a big role in the recording process.

  • ...hahaha! I had a pack yesterday... but it didn't influence me in any kind of way!

  • Same here my friend. For some reason I always enjoyed them with a beer or two.

  • I'll try that one out! ...and greets from... Hamburg! :)

  • ahhh Monks & Seagulls! genius

  • Ahh, the good 'ole days of experimentation without computers. Cool stuff!!!!!!!!!!!

  • And ppl say musicians do nothing!! This is fuckin hard work!!

  • I feel like this is where Patton got the inspiration for the seagulls at the beginning of "Sweet Charity" on Mr. Bungle's California album. Just maybe.

  • @lecanadien489 ya know, that's kinda what i was thinking too...you see him have a sort of light bulb moment in his head and his eyes get all big like his gears are turning....Thanks for pointing it out

  • Man this is awesome stuff!

  • Jim Martin has really nice hands..

Those guys are such a bunch of characters together! :)

  • hahahahaha listen to this at the start talking about candy, they are all talking about it,yeh yeh share it around.we got a bunch of candy.wheres the candy.those guys a rebig kids at heart.

  • the song there recording here is malpractice right?

  • What a great Album.... heard they're getting back together ...

    YAY!!!

And yes, making an album is a big creative push and pull. Band's always give their feed back on everything.

  • Yeotao, I completely disagree with you. If the band is connected and everybody really want to do the best music, everybody will be giving suggestions on everybody works. That's what a real band is, that's no such thing as "my" guitar parts, or "my" drum fill. It's the band's guitar parts, the band's drum fills.

  • Considering that Billy Gould produced the albums, its not so much about "the band". He's doing his job

  • Gould didn't produce this, Matt Wallace did.

  • Sometimes the keyboard world is so incrediably diverse tat the rest of the band cat help but have different ideas of what they want frm their keyboardist. they shld have left roddy alone ,respect him, and let him establish his own roots and identity in the band. roddy prob didnt and wouldnt say shit about wat bass effects and guitar effects the band shld use.

  • it is really sad where music has turned to these days with all these screamo-o emo bands. this is what real musicians are and what real music is, each person having their own style and still in a badass band and that is faith no more.

  • in 10 years people will be saying the same thing about that stuff and condemning those damn kids and their spacerapz

  • That sounds like "Just a man" from King

  • Roddy said in an interview that he's surprised that more people didn't realize that he was gay. I never knew, but I guess the Brian Austin Greene t-shirt should have been a dead give away.

  • That's awesome. LOL

  • Roddy looks pissed off. the waves and seagulls part was funny though. That would have been cool if it had ended up on a song.

  • I think this was recorded just after his father died, so he was going through a tough time. Supposedly he had some problems with drugs aswell at the time.

  • roddy needs a hug

  • I emailed Billy Gould not long ago about this song, and he said it didn't make it on the album and was never finished. Mike Bordin has the tape somewhere in his basement.

This is NOT A Small Victory.

  • you emailed billy gould? just like that?!

  • Well, technically it was a message on MySpace. He maintains the profile for Kool Arrow Records.

Anyways, he just said that the song wasn't working. I guess Jim couldn't think of any guitars for it.

  • whats the link for kool arrow records' myspace profile?

  • They worked this much on 30 seconds of a song, but never used it. :D I'm curious if they have 'basement tapes' like that? Maybe one day they will dust them off and release them.

  • u emailed billy???????

  • was that semi bald guy Andy Wallace?

  • close, matt wallace.

  • They are Working on A SMall VICTORY

without lead guitar and vocals ...

    god save mike patton ,...

  • No THey aren't

  • By the time patton got to fnm, they had already made all the music to "the real thing", they gave it to several singers to write lyrics and they chose pattons lyrics. He wrote all the lyrics to that album, but not the music, it was given to him ready. epic is epic!

  • infact, he wrote all the lyrics for "the real thing" in only 2 weeks. the boy is good!

  • Do you know of any post-Mosely and pre-Patton candidates who wrote these lyrics?

  • "God, you suck"

Love it. Love Faith No More

  • No, I beleive the song they're working on is called "Everything's ruined"

  • nope its virus

  • They were listening to Porcupine Tree. Awesome

  • They did? At what part? I couldn't figure it out.

  • i'm sure the coca-cola corporation appreciated the free plug.

  • id love to see the making of THE REAL THING!

    does this exist?

    anyone have it?

  • from what i have read is that this song is called "virus"

  • Thanksss this is goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!

  • Yes, thanks to Youtube, we know what it was like when Mike Patton cleaned his ears.

  • Man, shouldnt you been trying to pull down some other truley well meaning establishment like the cancer council? I wonder what you can create?

  • "Seagull song" would have been great. Why didn't they released it?

  • they did this to confuse eMptyV

  • It's definitely an unreleased song.... I need to find it. And no it's not a small victory dude. Man this is awesome stuff!

  • I LOve YouTube!!

  • it´s: "a small victory", you idiots

  • Comment removed
