So happy i finally found this movie. I used to watch with my brother and sister when i was little. We borrowed the video from our local Library (in Paris). Saw couples of Snow Queen versions till then, none equal the beauty, the poesy and the mystery form this Finland version. Music is enchanting, images are stunning.
I used to watch that movie when i was btw 8 and 13. It was so interesting that i decided to look for it. I finally found it!!!! so excited. One of best movies ever!!!!!!!!!!
the best movie ever! ive had it taped when i was 5 or so n was watching it all the time! the snow queen was ( n maybe still is xD) my biggest fear but i love it the most:) do yu know which cities or places the movie was made? i was tryin to find that on my own but i rly dont know much about finland!
this was my favorite movie when i was a child and i still love it. when it starts with kai and gerda at the beach i have tears in my eyes although i don't understand a word of finnish. i still remember the music by heart. i always wanted and still want such a wooden box as gerda has.
It looks like a beautiful movie. I don't speak Finnish so the only thing I can do is watch. But still, I will check the other parts. Thanks for sharing!
@albbumulggu0 yes, it is a vcd, it is dub in chinese i guess....i saw it in a poste office,a area there for vcd```and take it home to see.last found it too impressed
I like this movie. Sadly it is an anamorphic film and the person didn't use an anamorphic lens when projecting it. It could be STREEETCCCHHED lengthwise to comphensate for the missing anamorphic lens.
It shares many traits with the Artisan Entertainment (c)2002 version with Bridget Fonda. However... This is much SCARIER and it even more so when you don't know Finnish! If someone has this film with English Captions, I would love to see it.
I don't know finnish but I watched the english dub looong back so will watch it anyway. Please don't remove the video. Thanks a lot for sharing.

When Kerttu meet the witch, she says "Minä etsin Kaita" = "I'm Seeking Kai!".
When the witch says "Minä näen, minä kuulen, minä laulan", it means "I see, I hear, I sing".
But I'm (alas) not Finnish, I'm Belgian, and I can't translate the whole movie... Anteeksi (sorry).

That was shocking. She looks hilarious and you can tell the snow machine is directly to the right. It was mysterious up until then... xxx

It's beautiful isn't it! Nice to hear that coming from someone who's not Finnish.
I saw this movie as a child and it still gives me goosebumps :)
I had not heard about the 2002 version myself. After seeing the trailer, I wasn't too impressed...
