Look at Stairway to Heaven, the legendary Led Zeppelin classic. They didn't need all this fancy recording technology of today. The recorded it in an old English mansion. In a MANSION if you can believe it. It turned out to have just the right acoustics for the song, and produced an all time classic. Today's music (nothing against it) just doesn't have the same feel. Compare anyone today no matter how critically acclaimed they are to Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon".

I feel like people puted more efforts on creating a song back in the days (even before the 80's) compared to the 2000 decade. Even the 90's was still creative. What pisses me off the most is that we have the knowlegde and the technology to produce songs that could potentially be masterpieces. But we restrain ourself at giving superficial hits that aren't timeless and people seem to only want to consume songs the way they consume food or objects: "Once I'm fed up with it, I'll take the next one".
