stunning song especially the verse with the clean guitar sound, so emotive, so cool. reminds me of a great time, the mid-80's with great soundtracks, footloose, karate kid, top gun and many many more.
@NoNeedForNicks Yes. This is the original music video. Another user also uploaded the video that was recorded from MTV when it actually was Music Television. I remember watching it on MTV back in the mid 80's.
And another thing, I wasn't even bnorn yet when this kind of music was out, but I'm telling you now it cheers me up and gets me singing and dancing along more than any of todays music does!!!!!!!
I ADORE Footloose, I've been obsessed with it for as long as I can remember but I have to say, since seeing it on stage, I've only just started paying attention to this song and now I LOVE it!!!
I remember this song when it was new. My sister put me onto it. Anyone notice how good you feel when you listen to music from this time? I know I do as I was there!
Look at Stairway to Heaven, the legendary Led Zeppelin classic. They didn't need all this fancy recording technology of today. The recorded it in an old English mansion. In a MANSION if you can believe it. It turned out to have just the right acoustics for the song, and produced an all time classic. Today's music (nothing against it) just doesn't have the same feel. Compare anyone today no matter how critically acclaimed they are to Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon".
I'd tell ya now, I use to rev the fuck out of my 87 ford fairmont v8 while doing burnouts to these songs, and still do, god it's good been 24 years old.
I feel like people puted more efforts on creating a song back in the days (even before the 80's) compared to the 2000 decade. Even the 90's was still creative. What pisses me off the most is that we have the knowlegde and the technology to produce songs that could potentially be masterpieces. But we restrain ourself at giving superficial hits that aren't timeless and people seem to only want to consume songs the way they consume food or objects: "Once I'm fed up with it, I'll take the next one".
What happened with Kenny Loggins? All I know about him is that he sings one of my all time favorite songs and people don't talk about him nowadays, even when they're refering to the 80's.
@erikwilly I can't agree more. Everything was better in the 80s. I even hear of kids these days telling me that they like the cartoons of the 80s better than the ones we have today.
@lstevens35 This song was really good to listen to at night back then. At least then you got the feeling of excitement that you might see a friend walk out of the shadows or knock on your door. These days even the so-called "friends" of kids are more like tax-evading key party parents from back then. Anyone curious about what War is like are dead in Iraq before they have time to unpack. =/
The beat and melody have a similarity to the Richard Marx song 'Should've Known Better'. Both Kenny and Richard almost sound the same in the way they sing.
But Michael wasn`t the only musician or even everything in the music biz ! So stop comparing everything with michaels things . I can read such comments anymore!
I've searched high and low for this damn song! It was used in the episode stewie loves lois and no one could tell me what the song was. . .now my life is complete lol
That looks like a pretty bad neighborhood where Virginia Madsen lives in. Why does she leave her window open at night in 2:03? Is she looking to get attacked? lol

I bet the majority of the 80's videos borrowed ideas from Michael Jackson.
The directors probably took a cue from the 'Beat It' video with the fight scene.
