I was just curious, can you actually use those homemade things in a real battle e.g. the massive thing at the back? because it looks like its been made from some cut up buckets and glued together :P please reply :D
@HJFMovies Yes, you can if you have like minded friends who would rather enjoy the game than bicker over if a model is GW approved or not. GW made rules for building your own vehicles long ago. The big on in the back is actually based on a real model that was produced in the early 90's (though the real one goes for about $400 these days). While I enjoy the game, no hunk of plastic and resin is woth that much to me, so I go with homebuilt stuff.
@HJFMovies The original rules for vehicle creation were posted in a White Dwarf long ago. The reprinted a scaled down version in 2nd edition in the Rulebook for the the Dark Millenia expansion. Most recently, you cna find design your own vehicle rules in one of the Forgeworld Imperial Armor books.
@SauceCaptain exactly the same as you play with painted stuff, but with less color. Actually we have even more time to play since you aren't wasting the time painting.
I would be rather embarrassed to actually play with an army painted to this standard, and the stompa is just...what the fuck, lol. Perhaps learn how to paint before putting this on Youtube?
@VenomFangTV I could care less about the painting. I would just assume play with plain or primed figures. I play the game to play the game. If I wanted to paint, I would be a painter not a gamer. Perhaps you should only watch and comment on videos of "pro painted" armies?
wow that stompa is HORRID!, you can buy plasticard at hobbie shops its cheap, and its great for making things look orky, as for the "clone" gw models, I don't think you should post "copied" models that show copyright infringment online.
@TheMrKnify not sure what you mean by "clone" models. There are only about 4 non GW orks in the entire army. There Are a handful of scratchbuild and customized vehicles, but that is all part of playing the orks. As for the Stompa, I think I like it better the more people dislike it as it means its more unique and thus more Orky.
@Trueflights nice, that explains the duplicate singles, alot of the older ones people have been reforging, with your camera being horribly out of focus makes it hard to see any detail. do you have any hi-res photos?
as for the stompa, i'm sorry but it is horrid. :P lol
i'm in the endever of "scratch" building some deff copta's, more deff less copta, my theme is an all grot army (I hate orks.) but i love gretchin, grots and gnoblars.
@TheMrKnify There is a better video of just teh GW part of the army, Not sure if the res is any better, these were taken a while back with an old camera.
@henrydrummerboy31 not sure what you mean by its all fake? if you mean that some of the models are not Games Workshop, you are right. Take a look at the other video I have poster where only the GW models are shown.
Awesome, truly. The Gargant kind of ruins it though, no offence, but the cannon sticking out between his legs... well, it... It looks like a male reproductive organ, im sorry :(
@arafuckingphon1 You can thank Games workshop for designing it that way. I refused to add the nipple mounted cannons that were on the original model though. That was a bit too much.
When I first saw your giant thingy (The big one.... idk any of their names D:) I'll admit I thought it looked like crap. Now though, after having taken a good look at it, it has an "Iron-giant" esque feel to it, and it looks pretty damn neat. Considering how toyish the orcs already are (Kila kans, massive heads and arms) I don't think there's anything wrong with having that guy looking so childish. It looks much too clean though, some rust or something might fix it up.
@Dragoonotrue considering 90% or so of it is GW models, I would say yes. Not to mention that Orks are probably the one army that they allow scratchbuilt stuff to be used with.
Personally, I think the Garagant looks very nice. The beautiful thing about this game is that the creativity is amazing. The things you can do to promote your individuality through your models are basically endless. Well done.
This thing is ruined by the hideous scratch built stuff. Only scratch build if you are actually good at it. You might as well just use a mister bucket for your gargant instead of that retarded looking thing. It looks like a badguy from sonic the hedgehog.
@LeagueCityBallroom I'll take that as a compliment really. I actually enjoy playing the game itself and could care less about the modeling and painting aspects. crude representations work fine for me as long as people can tell what its supposed to be.
Funny thing is that Great Gargant looks pretty close to the actual model, yet there are always comments about it. Wish I had a real one to put next to it and tried to make people guess which was which.
People like you give the community a really bad rep. Bite your tongue next time you wish to spit venom under the cover of internet anonymity. How do you get good at scratch building until you actually do scratch building. Obviously logic has failed you, as well as a sense of decency.
@RufusThePorkshank well, you shouldn't do a terrible scratchbuild of one of the most powerful units in the game. It's like bringing in a vacuum cleaner and saying it's a emperor titan. I don't want the most awesome thing on the battlefield to look like a piece of shit. Also, if you don't think I would be talking smack about that ugly model in real life, you are sadly mistaken. I would be laughing the second that the came out of the carrying case.
@LeagueCityBallroom Of course you wouldn't make stupid/snarky comments in person. The only reason you do it here is because you are covered by the veil of anonymity. Wise up, son. If you were to talk like this in person, I'm confident you'd get a fist to the nose. It's called checks and balances.
@RufusThePorkshank Oh look here, we have an internet tough guy that's gonna punch me in the nose for making fun of a bad conversion. Look buddy, just because you are too much of a coward to say what you think in real life, don't project onto me. Are you male or not? Surely your friends all shit talk when you are messing around the table. Or is it all suits and handshakes at your gaming club?
@LeagueCityBallroom Considering how he talks, I think he is the gaming club. Nobody would want to play with a dick who has no sense of humour or creativity. Honestly, if a guy brought a vacuume and called it an emperor titan, I'd laugh, but I'd also cry because how god-awesome that would be. An army of bottle-cap space marines and coke can dreadnaughts would also be a night to remember.
@Zlofpgu its a matter of opinion. do you like fantasy or Sci Fi? Both have very similar rules systems now in the newer editions, so its all a matter of personal preference.
@Remythecheesemonkey It's called a Great Gargant. This one is scratchbuilt, though there was a company that did make the actual model in the early 90's called Epicast (or Armorcast, I forget which made that particaular one).
You can still find them on Ebay from time to time, but they usually start around $300. The real model is a solid resin kit, but the company that made them used rather cheap resin, which was part of why GW stopped doing business with them.
@Arkaine8 or maybe it was filmed with a cheap camera and that was the best it could get. If you are willing to buy a nice new camera for me, I would be happy to accept it.
@MenOnBirthControl A matter of opinion really. I prefer the look of the older stuff. In fact I would take Rogue Trader Models from 1st edition over just about anything out there today.
@GoldenZombe Yes, for orks some of the units dont even have models so you have to make your own and it works the same for all the units they do have models for, the whole army is based on custom weaponry so you can convert to your hearts content :D
@zackNgus its actually supposed to be quite a bit bigger, but it makes it difficult to use. The actual model that Epicast made for GW back in the early 90's was about 20% bigger.
@ninjaed13 I happen to think that model conversions are what make this game more interesting. If every army were the same, things would be pretty boring. Plus, it allows for creativity of the artist.
@zammerak11 I agree as well, but in the opposite respect. While my models aren't the greatest (I enjoy playing the actual game more than modeling or painting) Most homebuilt models are much better than anything GW ever came up with. Look through some of the scratch built Storm Ravens here on You Tube and compare thenm to the piece of crap GW made for a good example.
@Trueflights Perhaps, i have not done extensive research on what other players have created. As a starting player myself, for now i will stick to GW pieces and leave them or mod them, the things that are available on forge world are incredible however costly. Eventually due to funds i may end up attempting to create my own pieces, time will tell. However, impressive army capable of a true WAAAGH!
@ninjaed13 you should go to a gamesday when it is possible because there are great artists who make their own model and they look greater than workshop model.
@ninjaed13 Give me a break, since the price increase that Homemade model is pretty good, and besides original table top games were all about using your imagination
Do you have house rules for the Gargant? If So what are they? if not did you find rules for it elsewhere? [i ask cause i wish to make one for my army.]
@KriptFrost We play 2nd edition where they actually had a full set of rules and stats for the Gargant. Bell of Lost Souls has an updated apocalypse type book available on their site with rules for the current edition, though they are unsanctioned. Playable as long as your opponent agrees. The thing is crazy overpowered though (as it should be). Your opponent needs an Emperor class titan or the eqivelant to make it remotly fair. Seen a gargant take out 5 warhound titans in a game before.
@BlauRFasan A good protion of them aren't painted yet. The ones that are, are stuff i've been working on for over 20 years now. Though that also includes several other armies, including a few that I have sold off over the years.
@sircalumbo each model has a set points cost asigned to it. when you are playing a game, the players agree on a total points for the game and the players chose what models they will bring to make up their army, with the total points cost being equal or lower than the set points for the game. Most games are between 500-2000 points on average.
@sircalumbo There is a generic list of points for the most basic troops that comes with the Rulebooks and other things in the starter box set fo the game. To get more detail, each specific army has a book called a Codex for it. These Codex books contain a lot more details on specialized troops and vehicles for each army and much more detailed points lists for models and options.
@UHCredhead u need 2 get a life n not try and put people down on the internet.....realy cool, i dont even like this shit anymore loved it when i was younger but why the hell do u care if sum1 else dus.
@MrSyrupman007 The stompa on the right of the Great Gargant is a scratchbuilt one that was made about a year before I picked up a real one. The one on the left is an Epicast Stompa from back when they had a license to make GW minis. If you are refering to the giant thing in the middle, it is a scratch built version of the old Epicast Great Gargant. I've seen some real ones pop up on Ebay from time to time, but usually for around $700+, so I'm perfectly happy with my scratchbuilt one.
I told my bro in law about 40k TT and he was like "Dude this is like Chess and Risk combined on steroids!"

If you go to a modeling store (Or Gamers Workshop) then you will not only see the displays, but the boxes that are kinda rectangular like.
So you have to cut them out, attach them the right way, wait till its dried up with glue, then paint them.
If you're not the right guy, then why are you here, making comments about his models?

@ninjaed13 Give me a break, since the price increase that Homemade model is pretty good, and besides original table top games were all about using your imagination

Do you have house rules for the Gargant? If So what are they? if not did you find rules for it elsewhere? [i ask cause i wish to make one for my army.]
KriptFrost 5 months ago
@KriptFrost We play 2nd edition where they actually had a full set of rules and stats for the Gargant. Bell of Lost Souls has an updated apocalypse type book available on their site with rules for the current edition, though they are unsanctioned. Playable as long as your opponent agrees. The thing is crazy overpowered though (as it should be). Your opponent needs an Emperor class titan or the eqivelant to make it remotly fair. Seen a gargant take out 5 warhound titans in a game before.

One question, how long did it took you to paint als these figures ? By the way, great job !
BlauRFasan 6 months ago
@BlauRFasan A good protion of them aren't painted yet. The ones that are, are stuff i've been working on for over 20 years now. Though that also includes several other armies, including a few that I have sold off over the years.

Circa 5 minutes: Those aren't modified AT-AT's. Those have four legs. AT-ST's have two.
Now I feel more geeky than I already did watching this. =)

wah does it mean like points....shur up im new to the game :/ :L
sircalumbo 6 months ago
@sircalumbo each model has a set points cost asigned to it. when you are playing a game, the players agree on a total points for the game and the players chose what models they will bring to make up their army, with the total points cost being equal or lower than the set points for the game. Most games are between 500-2000 points on average.
Trueflights 6 months ago
thanks is there anyway to see what figure is any ammount of points
sircalumbo 6 months ago
@sircalumbo There is a generic list of points for the most basic troops that comes with the Rulebooks and other things in the starter box set fo the game. To get more detail, each specific army has a book called a Codex for it. These Codex books contain a lot more details on specialized troops and vehicles for each army and much more detailed points lists for models and options.

what kind of stompa is that
MrSyrupman007 7 months ago
@MrSyrupman007 The stompa on the right of the Great Gargant is a scratchbuilt one that was made about a year before I picked up a real one. The one on the left is an Epicast Stompa from back when they had a license to make GW minis. If you are refering to the giant thing in the middle, it is a scratch built version of the old Epicast Great Gargant. I've seen some real ones pop up on Ebay from time to time, but usually for around $700+, so I'm perfectly happy with my scratchbuilt one.
