That's right. I am also interested in learning more about his signal path, whether it's digital or analogue, why he takes his audio signals first to his own dedicated onstage mixer and then feeds into the master mixer and all the stuff like that. Jordan, please make us wiser on how and why u do things that u do. Thanks.
While a very cool vid, I, as any gear head, wants to know about the patch bay to his left, any pedals, settings, direct boxes, in-ears, monitors, how many sends to the board, what he is hearing in his monitor, etc. literally every last thing involved with his set up.
I honestly don't get how you can dislike this video. It's just a dude talking about his gear. He's not insulting you or anything. James LaBrie himself said, "I say get a life and maybe work on making your life a better one instead of thinking the answer lies in cutting someone else up to raise your miserable spirit."
Wow... I'm so jealous of jordan rudess right now. I'd practice all day if i had all his equipment! But that's probably how he got all his equipment... By practicing all day... Haha
I honestly believe that Jordan Rudess is one of the most skilled and well-rounded musicians of the last hundred years--bold claim, I know, but just listen to Dream Theater's material starting in 1999 to the present--MIND-BLOWING KEYBOARD WORK
Rudess had an extensive career before joining Dream Theater in 1999--"Listen," from 1993, is an incredible display of Rudess' talent

He is a great player and knows his technology. However, he never answered why he went to the Korg Oasys from the Kurzweil. Every feature that he talked about with the Oasys can be done on the Kurzweil K2600 - except the sliders light up. LOL! You could just get a light over the keyboard.
I always wonder if the artist succumbs to an offer from a music equipment company - and they make those offers. Like Michael Jordan wearing Nikes. I guess if someone offered up an Oasys to me, I'd take it, too.
You should look into the Oasys yourself, look into the karma technology and look up into other different features of the oasys, and you'll figure out why he chose the Oasys ;) There's a reason to its price tag ;)
Korg does sponsor but they don't give out free keyboards. Jordan had to buy each of his three Oasys keyboards. Jordan himself said that he had to get a new keyboard because he was running out of memory with his Kurzweil.
He does get free keyboards from Korg, because he is sponsored, thats the whole "point" of being sponsored.. He changed from Kurzweil because Kurzweil keyboards didnt had enough memory , and the OASYS has a lot of memory.
I've tested the Oasys. My TR-Rack contains the same sounds, if not better. All the other bells and whistles have nothing to do with music. They're just there to keep customers happy and to be so called "innovative". The Oasys goes into history as the most overrated instrument of all time.
The only thing I would counter that with is that if one of the world's greatest keyboardists decides its the best way to express himself, who am I to argue. The other thing is that in its role as the master controller, I'm not sure how much sound is actually produced by the Oasys. If its good enough for Jordan, its good enough for me.
