Hey EXO I'm doing your big 3 upgrade but I've been told by a car audio store that all 0 gauge wire isn't the same and that some is better than others. If you don't mind telling, where could I purchase some of the 0 gauge that you got?

@iballen93 no not all 0 gauge is equal that actually have bigger and smaller 0 gauge such as 1/0, 2/0, 3/0, and 4/0 but in most car audio installs the most common used is 1/0

all in all if your trying to go big wire / big amps shouldnt you just run a 200 amp alternator and a really big CAP first? that be my first thought but im old skool i guess. BIG wires will only pull what there fed on the supply side. comments here? u see car audio is an addiction as we all know it never stops think back when you started out and thought 10 gauge was big enough. at 1 gauge level you have to re think the entire power system FIRST. if you all got that kinda $ send me some = )

For you guys wondering how to cut 0 gauge you can just go to Home Depot and get a pair of heavy duty wire cutter from Klein that can cut up to 4/0 gauge wiring. And they're hella gnarly looking too, take your fingers off no problem if you're not careful.

@keithpetree crimping o guage is not the easiest thing to do without the right tool lol. I have learned that a hammer works well, or the biggest pair of plyers you can get lol.

@davidsstilltippin its been many years if i remember 1/0 is what it looks about 1 inch if you face it to you measure across the center widest point. its heavy and VERY expensive! copper stranded wire is a ton better and very much lower loss from my point of view.

i would either:

A- get a reducer (but depending on your application might be to big as the 0g end of a reducer is pretty big and conductive all around meaning it might be really close to your negative or too long)

B- shave strands untill it will fit then solder the open end

C-solder in a pigtail lead reducing your cable to 4 or whatever size you need

D- bolts and ring terminals

remember the manufacturer made the 4g for a reason and as long as your run isnt too long you will be fine.

Go to a local welding supply shop they should have cable all the way up to 4/0, but keep in mind, none of their wire will be as flexible as car audio cable.

haha i know that feeling....... only hard part with my car is i had to drill thru the firewall cuz my car is LAME and the rubber gaskets around the electrical wires were way too small to fit a 4G wire as wel as the stock so i had to get creative.... it sucked so bad it took like 4 hours cuz i dont have a drill lol now i have 3 though go figure... but i bet u agree with this 100%.. it was WELL worth the time and hassle once u heard the end result

Why don't you run the grounds up to the ground on the battery? That's really the best connection you can have. Especially when you're running dual 1/0, which usually means a lot of power.
