I love this song but it makes me cry every time I hear it. I have a 2yr old little girl and a boy on the way and my husband works a lot and tells me it will change after time. I sure hope it changes I am the wife in this song and its really hard telling your daughter her daddy is working when she asks for him to do their bedtime prayer...I know God is great and he has a plan for my family...I just want things to change soon!

Have you looked for the evidence. It's out there. There are books, websites, and other sources dedicated to giving people like you some "proof"
As for your statement about God being neither verifyed nor falsified. What about all the other scientific theories that are taken as fact such as global warming and evolution. There is definitely evidence that could be interpreted for both. But there is no unquestionable proof that puts the theories beyond falfifying and verifying.

Why should I? I'm able to think and live on my own, I don't need a metaphysic creature, who can never be veryfied.
If you want to know: I'm an Ignostician. God can neither be verifyfied nor falsified, so theres no question, if he exists or not. And because of this, the existance or non-existance of god has no influence on my life.
(excuse me, me english is far from perfect. I hope it's understandable). :)

What far too many people do not realize is that though Christians take a lot on faith, there is still a lot of evidence. We are thinking, some of us scientific, people too. Have you looked for the evidence. It's out there. There are books, websites, and other sources dedicated to giving people like you some "proof"

As for your statement about God being neither verifyed nor falsified. What about all the other scientific theories that are taken as fact such as global warming and evolution. There is definitely evidence that could be interpreted for both. But there is no unquestionable proof that puts the theories beyond falfifying and verifying.

the beauty of all songs is that they all remind us of things in our own life, even if its just one lyric.
this song to me, is singing of a father who only ever worked and spent no time with his family, though he did it for them to have finer things, those things didnt really matter to them, cause they only ever wanted him around, and since he was gone so much, his family slipped away and now hes alone, and his kingdom falling apart.

From how I understand it, it is his world view or lifestyle. Basically, it's saying that he is working to make his own way to what he wants (the American Dream). However, the song is saying that his foundation (the sand) is not that strong. He's building his world view and lifestyle on sand, which in time it will fail. Make sense? =)?
