You're both incorrect. The turbo is water cooled, meaning water will cycle through the system and cool down the turbo after the engine is shut off. No oil will get baked in the turbo, no damage will be done. If it weren't water cooled, you'd be perfectly correct.

These days almost every turbo comes with coolant fittings as well as the oil fittings, especially on OEM turbo cars. Check out this picture:

Stock WRX TD04-13T, side view (upside down). There is one line coming out the bottom (top in the picture)--thats the oil drain. Oil is fed through the top. Those two lines on the side hook into the engine's coolant system. This is not a new concept.

You lose metered air each time you let off the gas. That leans the engine out big time, which results in a hotter block, and therefore, less power. Also, it confuses the crap out of the ECU, which will try to adjust for the difference, probably by leaning the engine out even more than it is stock.

I seriously doubt it. If you really were a mechanic, you would realize that running REALLY REALLY LEAN would cause some problems, like excess heat, as well as causing the ECU to cause the car to run rich. Subarus run rich to begin with, and therefore, you would have even more problems. Get a life.

you got it in reverse my friend, dumping metered air actually causes rich spikes, not lean spikes. I know, I have an HKS on my Turbo Mustang, I can smell the rich spike right after the BOV opens. the way to solve this is go to speed density, or move the Air meter in front of the turbo in a "blow through" config and tune the hell out of it :)

runs rich between shifts because, when the bov lets air out into the atmosphere that has already been metered by the mass air sensor the ECU thinks the air is still in the system and fuels accordingly while there is really less air being delivered, causing a rich condition, that is why the stock bov recirculates the air back into the intake after the mass air sensor but before the turbo to keep the air in the intake system for proper a/f ratios while releiving any compressor surge.

If you're running a larger turbo or enough boost, you can still get surge even with a recirc. Some of the WRC cars had that problem... I also recall a lot of turbo fires in that same time frame. :P

bov is on the intake line, wastegate sits on the exhaust line. bov releases back pressure caused by compresor when u stop spooling (so it doesnt dmg ur turbo). wastegate causes exhaust to bypass turbine at some speed and go straight out (if you dont want your turbo reaching mad rpms)
