In fact i had scarce idea what it was. So i asked if I could have it, and he said yes. That night i popped it in my GBA, and realized how fun pokemon was. I played it nonstop for weeks, and loved it so much that I got emerald a month later.
Agreed. Gold and Silver were, in my opinion, superior to Blue and Red. However, the later games just didn't do the pokemon series justice. It got to the point where there were 300+ pokemon and over thousands of moves.

My main Pokemon was a Haunter, I always thought he was the coolest most bad-ass Pokemon out there, and I beat this game with him. At age 18 I got my first tattoo, a Haunter on my forearm, to remember my childhood with. It always reminds me of true emotion, my childhood, and one true friend.. A better time.
I played this game with my neighbor everyday, my entire childhood. When I came home I usually had the game in my pockets. One day, I forgot to take it upstairs with me and my mother washed my pants. Miraculously, the game survived and I still play it to this day! (:

i remeber i was 5 when i started playing pokemon red i wanted a charmander so bad and i also rmeber my uncle before he left to go to the army gave me a gameboy color and the last words he told me was to be the best pokemon trainer out there, so from that point on i played ever pokemon game and beat them
2001 : April 20th : 7h30 pm, it was my 6th birthday, a big squared box was given to me, i opened it and all the kids including me jumped in joy, it was a gameboy color with pokemon blue... 1 year later, i managed to understand a little bit more english and understood the story and i could play without the help of my mom... 5 months later i was at the end of the pokemon league and i defeated the rival, i was so happy, i finally did it :)... then i just started crying as the credits rolled... :')

Ah, memories. <3 I don't remember beating the E4 for the first time, but I do remember playing the game in 3rd grade... Played it during recess (indoors because it was raining that day), but I was in the middle of Giovanni's gym when recess ended... So during the history lesson right afterwards, I propped up my history book to cover my old brick gameboy and kept playing and beat Giovanni for the first time! (And I sat right in front of the teacher, too!) Got away with it, somehow.
I beat the e4 365 times to find the ss anne and mew, but when I found out it wasn't true and that hours of my 6 tear old life were a lie I thought this music to be a curse and stopped playing for 11 years until I rediscovered this and I was the happiest person on earth.
I turn 18 less than a month away from now. In honor of my childhood years, memories, experiences, friendships, hardships, and pokemon, i will spend the day replaying Pokemon Red instead of having a party, being with friends or family. I want to be a child once more before i become an adult. Thank you Nintendo and Gamefreak for giving me one of the best experiences of my life.
I am 21 and I still play Pokemon. I don't care what anyone says, because for me, the game was more than just a game; it was an experience. Besides, age is only a number. What's important is while you're alive if you're having fun or not.

@MegaAstin HGSS was fantastic, possibly the best remake in video game history (unless Nintendo ever makes an EarthBound remake). B/W is stupid imo. The new Pokemon (save for a few; Hydreigon and Excadrill are my favs) look really stupid and the fact that I couldn't use my childhood Pokemon made it worse. I even miss seeing Zubat every 2.1 seconds.
Anyway, White is fun but it's hard to find Pokemon that aren't displeasing to the eye (and I had to settle with a few like Conkeldurr just because of stats).
Wow. I grew up in Gen. II, even though I had a Blue, it wouldn't save. So I played Crystal, never knowing the joy of Red and Blue until Emerald came out and I got Yellow for 15 dollars. Even with all 3 starters, Gary is a tough nut to crack. I would only hope for God's grace in Red...

Its been about 12 years since I played and beat Red version. Anyways, I remember this music, and hearing it late at night during a sleepover at my best friends house, my only true best friend. My main Pokemon was a Haunter, I always thought he was the coolest most bad-ass Pokemon out there, and I beat this game with him. At age 18 I got my first tattoo, a Haunter on my forearm, to remember my childhood with. It always reminds me of true emotion, my childhood, and one true friend.. A better time.

2001 : April 20th : 7h30 pm, it was my 6th birthday, a big squared box was given to me, i opened it and all the kids including me jumped in joy, it was a gameboy color with pokemon blue... 1 year later, i managed to understand a little bit more english and understood the story and i could play without the help of my mom... 5 months later i was at the end of the pokemon league and i defeated the rival, i was so happy, i finally did it :)... then i just started crying as the credits rolled... :')

Ah, memories. <3 I don't remember beating the E4 for the first time, but I do remember playing the game in 3rd grade... Played it during recess (indoors because it was raining that day), but I was in the middle of Giovanni's gym when recess ended... So during the history lesson right afterwards, I propped up my history book to cover my old brick gameboy and kept playing and beat Giovanni for the first time! (And I sat right in front of the teacher, too!) Got away with it, somehow.

I turn 18 less than a month away from now. In honor of my childhood years, memories, experiences, friendships, hardships, and pokemon, i will spend the day replaying Pokemon Red instead of having a party, being with friends or family. @MegaAstin HGSS was fantastic, possibly the best remake in video game history (unless Nintendo ever makes an EarthBound remake). B/W is stupid imo. The new Pokemon (save for a few; Hydreigon and Excadrill are my favs) look really stupid and the fact that I couldn't use my childhood Pokemon made it worse. I even miss seeing Zubat every 2.1 seconds.

Wow. I grew up in Gen. II, even though I had a Blue, it wouldn't save. So I played Crystal, never knowing the joy of Red and Blue until Emerald came out and I got Yellow for 15 dollars. Even with all 3 starters, Gary is a tough nut to crack. I would only hope for God's grace in Red...
