I first saw Dawn of the Dead at the Capital City Mall theaters in Camp Hill, PA in Fall 1978. Seeing that movie in an actual mall theater--what an experience! We were in 9th grade at the time and were blown away by the nonstop action and blood & gore. My friend's friend's girlfriend actually got sick and had to leave the theater! She had no idea what she was walking into. Ahhh, those were the days...
It was back in the carefree 70s, BEFORE political correctness had set in and the theater people weren't under pressure from the Tipper Gores of the world to be such A-holes about that kind of thing.
Either that or we just asked some random donk to buy us tickets...
