No it didn't directly stop any child abusers. That was not the point to stop child abuse. The point was simply to raise awareness. With everyone changing their pictures and changing their statuses to ask other people to join more people became aware of the actual threat of child abuse in out nation. You can not start a cause if it has not been advertised, and thats what this campaign was, advertising the fact that as americans we care and making sure that everyone knows that child abuse really

Due to the renewed awareness that there were children in need more people volunteered to help different abuse agencies and donations showed a slight increase. If that isn't important to you then tell that to the children who were lucky enough to be helped by a child abuse agency (because of the money and voluteers this campaign raised)

The Facebook Cartoon Campaign has created so much noise and awareness of various different charities across the globe that thousands upon thousands of people will have donated money. The Facebook campaign is directionless and potentially dangerous because it can make people feel like they've done something when all they did was show their friends that they like Snorks.
The idea is to get people thinking about the subject, thoughts lead to action, kind of like how your lack of any useful social skills will eventually lead to a sad, lonely death.

@deathtrip2000 the majority of people wont go out and buy nike shoes because they saw an advert on t.v., but some will. thats the point. It did work because alot of people donated money due to becoming aware of the charities through this viral thing. Agreed, lots of people wont do anything, but the ones who do make it a success

Facebook profile pictures of cartoons is a lie. How is changing your profile picture going to help child abuse. Think about it if child abuse is happening out side. how is a child abuser going to look at ur picture and think about his past. During his or her time, a child abuser didnt have those same characters as they favorite cartoon

The whole changing of your profile pic to a favorite cartoon character thing was actually created by a group of pedophiles, cause if children see pics of cartoon's they will add them, it is currently on the programme internet frauds and will be on tv tonight sometime.
