I don't think they were playing, 0:09 did you hear the voice it made? It means they were fighting + did you see how it jumped off wanting to get out? It was SCARED. At 0:45 did you see how it mew'd? It also wanted to go out, the pug pulled it back, it was fighting the cat. You should keep an eye on your pets, however, you might not be a good pet owner.

This is how my puppy pug plays with our rabbit. It looks bad, but until you have a pug or a puppy it's just puppy play. They do not know how to be gentle until you teach them. He doesn't hurt the rabbit, but I don't let them go to far with roughness. I call his name and he stops. It's not animal abuse. People that think that are uneducated about puppy's and dogs.

Here we have a young and energetic pug who doesn't know better and a cat who isn't angry and isn't attacking the pug.

The ideal thing for an owner to do in this situation would be to observe and step in if either animal actually hurts the other.

If you hadn't noticed, the cat made no attempt to attack the dog, did not snarl or hiss fiercely and did not run for its life. At best the cat appeared annoyed if anything. Do you know what happens to a cat's fur and tail when they're afraid, hurt or angry?
