This shit sounds utterly generic. I can't believe that there are people who actually pay to see this crap. Don't get me wrong. Eric "Sweet Mullet" Johnson has monster chops. He's just plays shit.
@Hoopermazing Hey, he's better than Satriani, you gotta give him that. I do agree, however. I love hearing him do guitar solos, etc, I even enjoy some of his lessons - but his real "songs" are quite lame.
@MJFswish I sure do. I love music, and I'm a multi-instrumentalist. You do understand that music comprises many genres, not just post-1970s rock and/or metal, right?
he threw a little bit of manhattan in there , it 's in there! the solo is from manhattan. no question! so don't beat on those guys. cause they are right
are you crazy or stupid ????? this is not manhattan at all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the them is maybe similar but it's just not manhattan. not the same mode ...
I've been listening to "Manhattan" since 1986 (from the first Austin City Limits TV show), and this is NOT it. Good grief.
Look at your monitor, over to the right. As I type this, there is a version of "Manhattan" from the G3 concert awhile back, posted by jonyq. Watch/listen.
I'm sorry to say I don't know the name of this song, but it's definitely NOT "Manhattan."
The first few seconds sound like the trumpet patch on a guitar synth. I used to see ads in guitar magazines with Eric endorsing them. He's also a master knob twiddler (yeah yeah, sounds gay as hell. have a laugh and let's keep moving here) so he could be transitioning between said synth sound and his normal tone.
After that, he's using some high end fender amp (maybe a handwired Twin?), probably a TC chorus and some rackmount delay (supposedly an MXR?).

Yeah Bloom to me is a low point for Eric. I love his tone but he seems to have difficulty putting together a decent song with kick ass solos anymore. The title track to Venus isle, Tones these were great. One thing I would love to get is a clean version of his live star spangled banner. He's getting weaker with age. I always thought this guy would get it together one of these days.
Yes, Eric's just finished working on the basic tracks for the new album. The finished product should be done by early next year (thats my guess). In this video he is using the first EJ custom shop strat ever made (one of his favourite guitars), the prototype model. Eric has a new custom strat coming out in January, a new rosewood strat with new specs such as a new bridge pickup and binding on the neck.
hmm. i have most of EJ's albums (tones, venus isle, ah via musicom, bloom) and i've never heard this. it's probably a new song that he has no title for and will release later, like how he played "intro song" on the G3 dvd and later released it as "12 to 12 vibe" on bloom.
I know the whole discography of this guy, I'm pretty sure all these musics are new ones!! It's unbelievable how he can, even after all these years, still make such beautiful compositions..
thanx everyone! i'll try to post up some more... btw, some of yall said these are new songs? no wonder!!! i thought i was the only one that didn't know the songs and i was like "wth... these aren't familiar" lol
