Why has nobody made a gyroscopic rocket controller, they could be very handy and a great money maker. I don't mean for stabilization's, I mean it for sensing bad stuff, like going horizontal and deploying a chute and saving your rocket.

@aForkandaSpoon Good idea in theory, but deploying a chute at high speeds could end up badly. I've seen an accidental chute deployment at Mach 2, the parachute was in pieces. all you can do is hope is slows down and the altimeters fire when the parachute will safely open. Another case where this would be bad(unlikely) but go to Vernk(dot)net and click on the link along the left side that says "orange crush loop"

@TIRrocketry Ok, I didn't even think of that, duh. I wonder if you could do a reverse thrust thing like jets have and then deploy a chute.

@aForkandaSpoon with some ingenuity and time you probably could. but the cost of that would probably be several times more than the rocket itself.
