I think this is Bauli in Carnatic music. It is a child raga of MayamalavaGoula - with Ri and Da komal and there is no Ma in the raga.

Is Manju Bhargavi a trained Bharatanatyam dancer or Kuchipudi? She seems to me more of a "Kuchipudist". I love the simpliciy of her dance here and the whole impressionism of the natural set.

Fantastic scene. Seen this movie when it first came out in the late 70s.. was it 1979. I was a young boy then. Saw it in Royal Theatre, Hyderabad. And then with word of mouth the fame of the movie spread all over India. People who hadnt ever heard of Telugu thronged the theatres, without the movie being dubbed or without any subtitles and received a standing ovation each time. A true Indian classic. Great. a beautiful rendition of raag bhupali. interestingly in Hindustani, raag bhupali is an evening raag and this version emphasises the morning mood.

@renukavenkat this is not bhupali...there is no "Ni" in bhupali...also here some komal swars are used where as bhupali has all shuddha swars...

but yes, this sounds very similar to bhupali but yet it doesn't creates its mood...must be a mixed raga
