Do you sell these or can point me to instructions on how it was made. I have tried making one with IR Leds but they were not bright enough to be tracked.
Hello, I took all manuals from free track website - remember to use proper IR emitters (specs on FT web) - remember about angles - 160 degrees. Maybe you pick wrong resistors, my freetrack is powered by mobile phone battery.
@palladin82 I am thinking of getting an IR lamp like those on CCTV video and just using reflecters, much simpler then having wires running everywhere. Probably less ugly.
@DemonAMVs Remember that reflection mode is much more not precise than IR emitters. To buy good IR leds will cost you not much money check farnell website for proper IR led.
@DemonAMVs To use reflection mode you need to setup reflectional module very carefully.
Why it is worse :
- if you will generate IR light directly in your face than many surfaces can reflect this light (specially sweat on your face) so to reduce this effect you will need to reduce sensitivity of capturing IR lights (so IR will can have problem with capturing IR from reflectors). - Reflectors must have extended angles to pinpoint so camera can receive Ir light with the same saturation and size
@palladin82 wrong, I will be using an IR filter which will get rid of most of the mild reflections and will only allow the reflectors to be seen. There is also the ISO setting that comes into play.
@palladin82 ehh Yeah I was using filter too but to work properly and capture all the movements you need to customize the settings, I have tried both and reflection method and IR emitters, and with reflectors the was a big problem with setting up the freetrack to capture only these 3 points and nothing else. IR emitting is static but reflection is changeable and FT had a problem to track IR points specially in wide angles. This is just my opinion based on my tests-maybe you can do it better :) GL
i tried getting help from FT forums but no response. i cant turn but a few inches in each direction. i increased sensitivity in freetrack to no effect. any help?
Hello, thanx yes i have used resistors but it depends of led you are using and type of battery or power source you should be able to find all information regarding device on freetrack official website look for the handbook
It can be tough to adjust speed, altitude and heading in virtual cockpit, unless you have a very large screen.
That's why I use voice control software called "Multi Crew Experience". I give voice commands to my slave (a.k.a. co-pilot) and he turns the dials for me.
Can also talk to native ATC or Radar Contact ATC. Since a demo is available, all you'd need is a headset with mike to try it out :-))
@ellonysman Hi, LEDs are attached to case with PCB and li-ion battery which can be rechared via usb. I am working on carbon-fibre case for final device. I can probablly build two devices, but I will have to wait till my PCB project will be manufactured, please remind me about this device in two weeks time, Cheers
@palladin82@palladin82 Hi, Im trying to put a simple freetrackir set together from one of the other video's. Would you sell me one of these? why is it bulky looking?
DUde... how do you make them more sensitive, i am trying the 1 point tracking for now and it only moves a little bit, i tried moving the sensativity sliders but they dont do anything?
got to freetrack website and look up the webcam compability list there are certain kinds of webcams that dont work i ordered genious slim 321c webcam yesterday! it says than it is good!!
@halo5549 It does not matter what kind of camera you have but it needs to capture IR dots in 120 FPS in 320x200 mode. The problem with built-in cameras is that it is harder to remove IR filter from them.
Very nice! I built a Freetrack Device myself. I took a cap and made 3 LEDs on it. Works fine. First i powered them with a mains adapter, but now I improved it and use a single lightweight Battery =). I got Freetrack running with RacedriverGrid and now also with FS2004 (using FSUIPC.dll). But your FT runs VERY smooth and supports many axis - compliments! Does FS-X support FT well or do you have to hack much?!
Just try to turn your camera on and check how many dots is visible, sometimes Freetrack is set to 4 points option, and sometimes your device can generate more than three light sources (reflection dot) - than "skull" can be unresponsive because freetrack cannot process so many or so few it dots.
Yes, fast PC is an advantage but as you can see below I have Core2Duo E8400 , 4 GB RAM and GTX 260. It is important to optimize game for your PC specs.
I am using VX6000 but I heard that cheaper MS cameras are also working very well.
I am thinking to construct and sell this kind of Freetrack device itself.
Ok. Thanks. I have some problems with free-track. If I turn my head only a small amount the red leds are fading away. Do you maybe know how I can solve that? I asked on the F-T forum but they don't response. Are you using IR-Leds?
