  • lol all of them are like "oh no we are in the pound!" and then collies just like "hellloooo :D"

  • Thank You soooooo much for posting this movie on here!! I thought I'd never see it again after my vhs of it broke!! I used to cry all the time from this movie and I absolutely adore it!! Again Thank You!!

  • there is no sound ._.

  • Did anyone else get the feeling that they paired dogs with people like they did in 101 Dalmatians? Remember Pongo looking out the window? The little girl with the yellow dress had a Golden Retriever puppy? The artist chick with the long hair had like an Irish setter. The fancy chick with the fluff had a poodle? They all looked the same in some aspects. Even the woman on the bike had a pug in the basket who looked a little like her.

  • r.i.p RS ruby spears logo

  • I notice 3 look like butch and 3 look like scurry til toward the ending. One of pup supposedly look like butch suddenly turn into black pup? Haha wow

  • You know, this film may have its shortcomings and 70's/early 80's "cheesiness" compared to the stuff out today, but I grew up on this stuff and back then you didn't have potty humor and choppy computer animation. But what you had was good storytelling with well developed and likable characters..."Scruffy" is a perfect example. For those of you old enough to remember when this first aired....it was BIG and well received! Thanks for sharing this remarkable movie!

  • @CairnTerrier69 :) I wasn't around when it first came out but this was my favorite movie throughout my whole childhood!!

  • Man, watching this reminded me of my childhood alright! As soon as I clicked the link, I remembered how much I cried watching this movie. I still feel the same sadness now re-watching it... *sniff*

  • @americrevolutwar1777 Same here as well!

  • It reminds me of Lady and the Tramp XD

  • I forgot how depressing this movie was...

  • @grouchythesmurf 1# they're dogs 2# a dog can actually grow a lot in 6 months and i know the puppy thing dosen't make sense but i mean what where you expecting from this film xD

  • @KaoGreenStar Uhm i'm not sure when this is made but the lady and the tramp was made in 1955 and was disneys first full length full color animated movie so i highly doupt it that this movie is older xD

  • i love the ending it so cute

  • Scruffy: Butch...I love you!

    Butch: O_o Uh....y-yeah...me too. ^_^;;;

Me: =_= Scruffy, I know you're a puppy and this is what one would call an "innocent crush"...but seriously....the end....that's taking it to a whole different other level.

  • OAO Ok ok, let's ALL take a moment to agree...this movie is the granddaddy/mammy of Disney's Lady and the Tramp.

  • He waited until she was older and banged her...how creepy lol xD

  • @dubstepwolf just what i was thinking

  • I'M NOT GOING TO CRY, NOT GOING TO......

    *cries like a baby*

  • for some reason this kind of reminds me of lady and the tramp

  • WHAT?! How could a dogs' tail shift a gear??? AND WHY WAS IT WAGGING?? AND WHY WOULD A PUPPY MATE WITH A DOG ABOUT 3X HER AGE?! IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!

  • wtf? so that little puppy mated with that old dog she was only a quarter the size of him when they met thats just wrong just saying in the end shes what 3 years old,& hes 17 years old or something like that since he was allready old when he met the puppy, .........*explodes*

  • wtf lady and the tramp

  • This movie was a sad, but made it happy at the end XD

  • so this is like bambi with scruffy's mum lady and the tramp ending and then other movies intertwined

  • Lady and the tramp?

  • LOL its like Lady and the Tramp: a young brown dog (Lady and Scruffy) get lost and they meet a grey boy stray dog (Tramp and Butch) fall in love, the boy calls her kiddo and have puppies some look like there dad and some look like there mom ;D

  • *wipes tears* Oh that was a great special, thanks

  • why do i get a lady and the tramp vibe from this..?

  • Anyone else think Scruffy must have had a major growth spert 0.o

  • Lovely !!!

  • Tears are absolutely rolling down my face! I first watched this movie when I was 1, and I have been searching for it ever since it broke when I was 2 (I'm 16 now). I always used to rent this from the local video store, and then it broke and they closed down. I've been going off of vague memories for years trying to find this! I can't even describe my excitement! Memories: Strays, dog that looks like Tramp, some kind of fire... But I've found it now! Yes, yes, yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this movie sooo much it was a movie that stood out over the years of my life

  • I love it how they're saying how pounds are bad and stuff, then at the end Scruffy's owners don't get her or Butch desexed and they produce more puppies, some of whom will eventually end up in the pound and probably won't be as lucky as their parents.

  • @myroosterwilleatyou I believe this was made before such action was encouraged, either that or the producers wanted a "cute" ending.

  • i paused this at the part were butch and scruffy said i lvoe you....urmm do they mean like mate love or like fmaily love cuz im confused

  • Butch and scruffy look like Lady and Tramp lol. Still was a good movie

  • i have bin searching for this for absolute years .... i cant believe you found this and put it on....thanx so much

  • AWW MY GAWD THE LAST TIME I SAW THIS, I WAS 3!!!! I LOVE THIS MOVIEEE!!!!!

  • sooo butch waited till scruffy got older to bang her? lol

  • this somewhat reminds me of the lady and the Tramp... just because of the characters

  • i did int really like this movie but it kinda entertained me the characters were cute ^_^

  • Very heart warming. This is a very good movie, and I will watch this again.

  • Though it's a bit different for dogs, I still was kinda weirded out by Butch & Scruffy hooking up. xD Their relationship felt to me more brother/sisterly or even father/daughterly; good & trusted friends, at any rate, but the puppy thing took me by surprise. Yes, he took her under his wing, but he seems *considerably* older, & the feelings they obviously had can be explained through another type of relationship.

  • @rafflesia I don't hate it or anything, but I see why you'd find it out of place in an anthropomorphic dog cartoon.

  • Yup, I'm almost 32 years of age & I cried as much as I did when I was a little girl, At least for the end they were happy tears.

  • this toons pretty deep and true, they should play this again on the tv now, raise awareness!

poor souls, if real dogs could talk theyd say what these dogs do!

    god pounds are so awful.

thank god for the dogs trust.

  • This movie wasn't so bad. Plague Dogs is a bit more poignant.

  • @MartenFerret This one's a walk in the park compared to Plague Dogs.

  • @ScruffySpecial XD Indeed. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this upload and I thank you for sharing. IMHO, this film (like Plague Dogs, The Mouse and His Child, etc), has little replay value (once you've seen it, you've seen it), though I would say it's nicely written (considering the budget limitations) and ts message has a substantial purpose.

  • Ok when Scruffy said she loved Butch I thought she meant as a father! WTF?

In this film I've spotted lady and the tramp 1 AND 2, Bambi, Fox and the hound, Loony Tunes and Fluke! Thumbs up so can people can notice this and point out anything I may have missed!

  • Lady and the Tramp. I've never seen this movie before, but that's what it reminds me of.

  • It was alright, I liked the idea but I sorta think they should have made Butch look alittle younger or something....just in general Scruffy appeared as a puppy through the whole movie so at the end it felt weird despite the fact that in reality the relationship wouldn't be that weird......Maybe its just cause Scruffy always seemed like puppy and Butch always seemed like an adult dog...so when we mix them together we get an "ew" factor.

  • @MonakoSM I think 5:50 points out that Butch is not young

  • Scruffy: I'm a puppy who's in love with an adult bull terrier. THATS NOT SICK IS IT? :3

  • I don't think a wagging tail is enough to push the gears out of place in a car. AND WHY WAS IT WAGGING? That was a scary moment for the dogs. Was he like:

"Imma nudge this gear outta place so when they see us I can bolt and they'll get Scruffy!! >:]"

  • @WorldIsMineseries Yeah, the producers' knowledge of dog behaviour was seriously lacking. In the book the gear did shift, but not from the almighty strength of a wagging tail!

  • @ScruffySpecial YES! Exactly. Maybe the people gave the book to the animator and said:

"Read this and start animating the special in at least 1 minute."

  • @ScruffySpecial INDEED! And why was it when they took Butch away Scruffy was in the Monday cell?! AND WHY DID THEY HAVE PUPPIES TOGETHER?! In the book I can understand, but Scruffy didn't age at all in this!

  • @ScruffySpecial In the book Butch and Scruffy were not hiding from the dog officers inside the parked car...rather they found a vehicle with the window down, were simply curious and jumped in to explore. Butch accidentally backed into the gear shift, knocking it into neutral , and sending them for an unexpected ride downhill and crashing through a store display window, Kind of a funny scene in the book.

  • This is so... -_-' childish... D;

  • This Has Got To Come Out On DVD.

  • I first saw this movie a few years ago at my grandparent's house and I have to say, I thought it was very cute, it had a great plot, and it was pretty emotional. It really reminded me of Lady and the Tramp though.

  • @ThinkPink866 ya it reminded me of Lady and the Tramp too!

  • ohhh hey that bar girl adopted the drunkard hahaha lol

  • u know i just realized something fucking butch actually had the balls to run back for scruffy and jump in the van tramp in lady and the tramp didnt he was alittle bitch lol

  • I wonder if this is how Petsmart got started.

  • I Still Looking For A Full Clip Of Bunnicula The Vampire Rabbit Cartoon Show.

  • I cant believe how many memmories that bought, when I was young, me my brother and sister watched this every day after school, i havent seen it for about 20 years, this has just bought tears to my eyes, what a clasic, the best ever, thanks for uploading

  • i noticed something, she was in the monday cage when butch was going in, and then when they showed him going in the door, she wound up in a tuesday cage.

  • @Spike1885: I guess that's good-old Saturday morning continuity for ya. =P

  • This Is So Emotional.

  • *sniff* that was a great movie.... it made me sad with butch but i could defiantly watch that movie a thousand times in a row and never change my feelings about it

    TwT

  • I really really miss the 80s.

  • is it me or do I see some charecter resemblance to a certain Disney movie, one with Spaggetie...

  • y the heck did it take the ENTIRE MOVIE for scruffy to finally get big?? y??

  • Doesn't That Skinny Guy Sound Just Like Freddy From Scooby-Doo?.

  • I don't know why so many people think Scruffy and Butch becoming mates is so gross or out of place. Even as a kid I didn't see there relationship as that of father or daughter or even brother and sister. I allways saw him as a slightly older dog who took scruffy under his wing. And there was some subtext of "feelings" from Scruffy towards Butch. It comes in particular when Butch gets hurt protecting her and she wants to take care of him.

  • @Passions55, Well I'll have to diagree with you, Because I don't Think that It's gross, I think that it's So romantic, and It was still so noble of Butch fighting For Scruffy's Honor.

  • @DimeraFan28

huh? Did you even reas what I wrote? Or are you being sarcastic?

  • omg, another emotional moment. i feel a nastalgia going on.

  • look, you're forgetting Dogs age quickly, meaning the relationship between butch and scruffy is far from gross

  • Oh man, when that guy started to take Butch into the building, I got a little emotional.

and wut, Dennis the Menace adopted Caesar

  • @HylianLycan, oh yeah, i remember that scene, and i was bawling like a baby when that happened.

  • @HylianLycan hahahaha it was sooo funny when ceaser was liking the little boy he went an extra 2 feet in the air lol

  • it was cute til butch and scruffy had puppies together. he was more like a big brother or even father to her aaaand seeing them with puppies together was kinda gross. also, did anyone notice one of the puppies was black? was scruffy a slut or something?

  • @Mintyflip, I'll Have To Disagree With You, Because I Don't Think That It's Gross, I Think it's kind of cute, And It Was Noble of Butch Fighting For Scruffy's Honor, I could tell the he really cares about her, and when she told him that she didn't want to be with that rich woman, she wants to be with him, and I can tell that she cares about him too.

  • @Mintyflip Simba and Nala are siblings. Take that in too.

  • @oskenso maybe by technicality, but that issue was never brought to light in the movie, so it's not like incest is salient in any kid's mind while watching it. the lion king was biologically incorrect in that regard anyway, so it's not like it excuses siblings interbreeding.

  • @oskenso: No, from what I remember of TLK, it was never implied Simba and Nala were siblings; just close friends.

  • @ScruffySpecial yeh, but theres only one male lion that sleeps with all the female lions so all the cubs had to be mufasa's. *____* I mean they wouldnt tell you that in the movie, but with real lion behaviors....

  • @showerpwner Wait, wait O_O That is SO true...omfg my childhood is ruined lol

  • @Mintyflip In the novel, Scruffy was older, and it was more of a romance implied overall. In here, it IS kinda weird xDD

  • @samablood Super weird, when she was still just a pup she told Butch she loved him even when he was an adult/teen XD

  • @Mintyflip lolololol

  • @Mintyflip agreed lmaooooo

  • @Mintyflip I think the pup was black because of a mistake because before it was brown;D

  • Love you its my favorite film!

  • can i just thank u for adding this i loved this film when i was younger absolutly loved it - i thought i was the only one in the world who had watched it lol thanks so much!

  • Thank you for uploading this. I was beginning to think I had made this up as a kid. Even though I understand some of the underlying material better now, I still think it's a great movie/special.

  • Awe that was an amazing film :) I'm pleased butch and scruff stayed together :P five stars!!! :D

  • My absolute favorite childhood movie! Thanks!!!

  • @sabreeno6 WHAT DAH FUCK!?!?!

  • Michelle sounds mentally challenged - I fear for Scruffy.

  • @kbirdusa I fear more for Solo the Cairn Terrier...his new owner looks like the Uni-bomber!

  • Thanks so much for putting this on youtube!!! I watched this growing up and no longer have the cassette. :) This brought back a lot of good memories.

  • Butch, you sure go for the young ones, don't you?

  • I loved this from a kid, one thing I always thought that was odd, was that Scruffy and Butch became mates. That is real odd, considering that Butch was an adult and Scruffy was a puppy when he found her. He was like a father to her, and they had sex? I know its a cartoon. But its common sense that Butch was more of a father to Scruffy.

  • @Nitelathe That kind of thing happens with real dogs all the time. I like to think, though, that perhaps Butch was only a year old, give or take a few months, by the time he met Scruffy. He'd have the build of an adult, but they wouldn't be too far apart in age.

  • @16Nire61: It's interesting to think that because in the book there was nothing romantic in their relationship. Butch was far older than Scruffy and though he still protected her, she was too young to have those sorts of feelings for him.

  • Thank you for the upload. This movie is one of my childhood favorites. :3

  • Wow!!!! I'm old enough to remember when "Scruffy" first aired on TV! This is a GREAT movie with the various dog breeds animated accurately to a "T"!! Butch is clearly an American Pit Bull Terrier, as is Ceasar, Scruffy is a tan/buff Springer Spaniel, Solo is a spot on Silver-Brindle Cairn Terrier (the animators even got the black ear tips on him right!), Randy a Boxer, and Collie a Rough Coat Collie. During the pound scenes one can pick out a Bloodhound, an English Bulldog, and an Afghan Hound

  • @CairnTerrier69 LOL!
