I remember when UFC first came out there were a lot of styles that showed up. (I saw ufc 4) Karate, ninjitsu, wrestling and ju jitsu owned the ring. Hoyce Gracie won in the finals against the wrestler sevrin. No one in stand up could beat the wrestlers and ju jitsuers, the ninjitsu guy won, but got injured and couldn't move on to the next round but did the best of the stand up, then karate. My dad actually watched it with me and said its about time somebody saw wrestling as a defense.
