The ROC has a pretty efficient military I believe and is completely professional, unlike the PLA which, although it is modernising, it is still virtually made up of conscripts that are literally given a gun and little training.
In the event of conflict, I do jolly well believe the ROC could hold out and possibly even win without U.S or allied assistance.

When they hit the flanks of Americans troops, Americans certainly don't know what avalanche hit up their arses. America got tanks, airplanes, and a lot of high tech shit compared what little PLA got!

The americans were VASTLY outnumbered and stretched thin. A simple PLA charge with all the troops they had does the trick, it helps when you outnumber your enemy to such a degree. Tanks are useless in the forests.
