I am a Univ of Memphis Alum and I know how it feels to be told your not good enough just because your teams is not in a certain conference even though your athletics dept has just as much or more, money, facilities, and fans as the BCS schools. I feel (felt) the same way as you do. Government should have a limited roll - not unlimited as it does now.
However, this is not just "sports" - business is involved. As a result, there are concerns about anti-trust.
This is not justification, just an explanation.
Still, the government should be more involved and securing our borders, upholding our language, and preserving our culture.
