  • The sport itself is somewhat communist.

  • Swofford should be investigated for lying to congress. A playoff would devalue the regular season? college football is the only sport a team can go undefeated and NOT be crowned champion. Great regular season. Bowl games stand as cultural icons in our country??? Yes everyone knows the Papa John's bowl as they know Elvis. They create regional interest? Most games are never sell outs. They support charities? 8 Bowl games are OWNED by ESPN, I guess ESPN is a charity.

  • Fuck the BCS. The only sport where we dont have a true champion.

  • You can still have the effects of the bowls BY having them become playoff games instead of consolation games. all that swafford said is secondary.

  • I love how the first witness leaves out how only a few teams benefit from the money,or can win a championship.

  • they just need to make all the d-1 confrences bcs confrences!!! end of conversation

  • Swafford is so full of shit. A playoff would devalue the regular season? LSU lost two games and played for the BCS. Auburn goes 13-0 and does not yea regular season means much.

29 non bcs bowls creat revenue, interest blah blah blah...dont know about you but my Christmas will survive without the Humanatarian bowl or the Meinke Car Care bowl. Fact is there are to many damn bowl games rewarding mediocrity who cares if they are gone.

  • Tonight 250.000.000 Children are sleeping on the streets. Not one of them is Cuban.

Capitalism has oppressed and killed more people than any other system.

They talk about the failure of socialism but where is the success of capitalism in Africa, Asia and Latin America?

  • @RadicalHiphop1 sure any eastern european would love to to share the "merits" of communism by the parades they had at the end of the cold war. or the how cubas economy thrived under castros reign. no system is perfect since human beings are inherently flawed but communism is a system that contradicts human nature and human development. some industries in south africa are thriving. chinas adaption is working as in other asian nations. should poverty be reducted? yes. eradicated? Not possible.

  • Communism works

  • @RadicalHiphop1 Where?

  • @RadicalHiphop1 no it doesnt in large groups. only in true communes of small groups can it work even then it contradicts human nature based on conflict of survival. sorry friend the pie in the sky everyone is happy is a delusion. everyone is not equal in many ways. some have more ability than others. some have abilities at higher levels. different skill sets all together. no way should a janitor make as much as a doctor.

  • True government waste before your eyes.

  • Why is this a government waste? do you know how much money the BCS conference's withhold from the rest of the D1 conferences? Do your realize that America's biggest colleges are monopolizing college football to keep the cash flow in their favor? The whole system doesn't stop in football, BIG colleges in general are in my eyes as evil as America gets. They are mini Enrons without the corporate logo. disguised as places to learn and grow.

  • I am a Univ of Memphis Alum and I know how it feels to be told your not good enough just because your teams is not in a certain conference even though your athletics dept has just as much or more, money, facilities, and fans as the BCS schools. Do you think we would have ever seen a Natl championship game if their was not a playoff system in Basketball.

  • national championship unless theyre in the "club". it doesnt give any of the schools that are not in the club a chance to prove that they have just as good athletic programs as the BCS .

  • I love how he talks about how important it makes the regular season. Yeah, the regular season for the teams in the BCS conferences. Utah's regular season obviously didn't matter that much did it. I think it's great that they are taking a little time to address the BCS problem. It is like a club of teams using their collective power to push everyone else out of the picture. teams cannot realistically compete for a

  • What does BCS stand for?

  • they talk about the prestige and value of the regular season....does this include the 4 cupcakes almost every team schedules near the beginning of the year? and who can possibly argue that a playoff system would potentially bring in MORE money during December or january Madness

  • Absolutely amazing. I would love to see a playoff in college football but how in god's name do these blithering idiots think this is the provence of government?! Has the world gone mad? I know we have a race hustling poverty pimp marxist president, but he would not be there if the Republicans had not so drastically departed from their principles as we see right here.

My advice would be for this moron to open up a copy of the frick'in constitution and find where he gets the right to do this.

  • I feel (felt) the same way as you do. Government should have a limited roll - not unlimited as it does now.

However, this is not just "sports" - business is involved. As a result, there are concerns about anti-trust.

This is not justification, just an explanation.

Still, the government should be more involved and securing our borders, upholding our language, and preserving our culture.

  • Barton,

    DO YOUR JOB.

YOUR JOB IS NOT TO BE CAPTAIN OF SPORTS COMPLETIONS.

    HELP THE PEOPLE OF TEXAS.

  • If you actually took the time to read your Constitution more carefully, you'd understand that part of Barton's job is regulating interstate commerce (Article 1, Section 8, Clause 3 of the United States Constitution)!

And explain to me how College Football is NOT interstate commerce!

  • playoff system plzzzzzzzz look florida was the team to beat but who knows maybe thy might have lost last year if we had a playoff it is not about the devaluation of the regular season it is about money and lots of it

  • This is what the Senate is discussing????

  • @TheTruthHurts732 multi billion dollar year business that has been monopolized for far too long that is why .

  • The guy behind him is going to die from laughing.

  • *laughs* You're right!

  • Looks like Mr. Rush is still drinking.
