In about 20 years, get a strong portion of the white working class vote will be irrelevant because that part of the electorate will be in the minority in the states with the most electoral clout. This is what Republicans should fear. If demographic tends continue as the do coupled with the GOP moving further right in its ideology, I see Democrats winning traditionally red or GOP leaning states like Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, and Arizona and maybe South Carolina.
HOW CAN A BLACK PEOPLE LIKE THE DEMS AND THE LEFT. IN NYC CLOSE TO HALF OF ALL BLACK BABIES ARE ABORTED??? THEY ARE KILLING OFF THE BALCK RACE?? BUT THEY SUPPORT THE DEM. PARTY? But then again every time there is a riot they burn down there owen houses.......
Brazile is an arrogant woman who thinks she has all the answers to American politics. Funny how two years later, during the mid-term elections, she appeared less happy than election night 2008. What's wrong, Donna? Is it because America has gone against your president??
@GalaxyVoyage1 Brazile is a self-assured, educated and intelligent woman. Is that a problem for you?? Last time I checked WHICH is now...the current President of the UNITED STATES is who ..oh that's right President Obama. So if you live in the UNITED STATES HE IS YOUR PRESIDENT TOOOOOOO! IDIOT......
@joeytunez-Agree with your final statement, to an extent. American History (& its foundation) created those wedges long ago. So, whom better(race/color aside) to create such policies, which primarily have been rejected in every attempt since 1776? Also, keep in mind that my prev post was in response to someone else who felt compelled to mention voting preferences by color. Base your opinion on the "entire" discussion, not just one statement from over a year ago. Also, see Jbunny's initial post.
Donna Brazile IS A SLEAZY EGOMANIAC. SHE WAS THE ONE WHO OBVIOUSLY TOLD GORE TO DO STUPID THINGS DURING HIS 2000 campaign. SHE OBVIOUSLY WANTED TO TAKE THE OVERWHEMINGLY CREDIT FOR A GORE VICTORY, AND WANTED CLINTON OUT OF HER WAY IN 2000 SO SHE COULD HAVE DONE SO. THE DEMOCRATS GAINED MORE SEATS IN CONGRESS IN 2000 IN PROTEST TO THE CLINTON IMPEACHMENT, INCLUDING MISSOURI AND FLORIDA, TWO STATES GORE LOST. CLINTON WOULD HAVE GIVEN GORE VICTORY. SHE ALSO VERY RUDE TO OBAMA ON JANUARY 20
I don't think black people voted for obama because he's black I think they voted for him because he is a demacrat because years ago when people wanted colin powell to run he may not have gotten of the black vote for being a republician
Hmm...so another way of stating your point would be (majority of) white people voted for mccain/palin, simply b/c they typically support the gop. Let's test your theory...why do you think so many non-majority "white" voters voted Democrat - which ultimately lead to a major defeat of the gop?
@djw80158 wrong, you have can't just assume that because a majority of blacks vote democrat that a majority of whites vote republican, in fact i believe it is a large majority (of all colors) that register as democrats.
blacks are just more concentrated in the democratic party due to many of the democratic parties fiscal policies which help middle and lower class people.
of course she did!!! but what about "my mama told me not to cheat" yet she wouldn't say anything when michigan and florida were given full votes at the convention. believe me i'm even more liberal than obama but when he says "change, we can believe in" and " down with the washington insiders ", and turns arround to pick, BIDEN? that just tells you the kind of people obama + his surrogates (BRAZILE) are, nothing more than... LIARS. so why defend the comments (racist) of brazile when she's for BO
when you see that 50% of whites won't vote for a black person, you can tell there's racism in this country... and it's all the whites fault, right?... WRONG!!!! because when you see that 99% of black people will vote for obama just because he's black, who's the racist here??? BLACKS... and i agree with you, DONNA BRAZILE IS A BLACK RACIST, to her it's black or nothing (no white, latino, asian etc.)
Too funny. You really think the BLACK voters (who mind you are minorities)put him in the white house? Since when did we ever OUT NUMBER the white voters? To tell you the truth, Obama got the white voters, and that's HOW HE GOT in the white house. I mean how racist is it to even assume that "99% of blacks voted for him because he's black"? Isn't that RACIST? Obviously you think were all the same. I think this win goes to show you that for once, AMERICA saw through color lines.
Wow, eleguis, what a revelation. Obama won 99% of the black vote. And John Kerry won 95%, so did Al Gore. Bill Clinton got 96% of the black vote. Notice a pattern here, Democrats win the black vote no matter who their nominee is. Oh, and Donna Brazile was the campaign manager for Al Gore in 2000, isn't Al Gore white? It was Paul Begala belittling Obama's victory, saying that it was black voters that won it for him in the North Carolina primary, so she bitchslapped him. Btw, PRESIDENT OBAMA
I direct everyone to the sidebar... I think it's the first one, to see what Brazile said before Begala said what he did. Both bad, but she went there as well as Begala. Folks need to put the whole clip for the truth, then decide.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I think Donna is trying to double speak !! She is forgettung that race is an issue when Obama gets 90% of the african- americans and nobody complains but when Hillary mentions white WOW she is cast as using race card. Who is doing the judging ?? baised TV Commentators
Im tired of this. If your going to talk about obama getting the black vote LETS PLEASE TALK ABOUT HILARY GETTING THE WHITE WOMEN VOTE OR EVEN THE OLDER AMERICAN VOTE. LETS SPEAK ON THAT. SHE GETS AN OVERWHELMING ABOUT THEM BUT NOONE SAYS A THING. THATS BIASED!!! BUDDY.
Yes Blacks are showing more racism than ever. Voting for Obama, why because they think he is black-he is not even blk. He has duped the AAs. Mrs. Clinton's (bless her heart) voters reflect the real America. Hispanics, Asians, Working class whites and yes, Blacks who see through that Homobana. Yeah we believe Larry Sinclair. Bo has hoodwinked and bambozzed Blk community. Blks and the guilt ridden lattle extreme left radicals are not going to elect your messiah! Why are y v/Bo?
Mass244 I do believe Obama is really black. The problem is he is too black. Why is it that its always the lightest black people with white ancestors who turn out to be the most racist nationalists? Rev. Wright is as white as cotton. Obama is a modern day Malcolm X.
(2) However, armani, I do believe it becomes sexist and racist when voters jump the ship simply based upon a candidate's race or sex. Ex. break the 90% down. Some voters were never on the Clinton ship (newer voters), and some turned off voters left re: direct tactics - not just racial remarks - by her and her campaign. What I do not agree with, however, are trends such as white men who abandoned your party's ticket when left with a black (or non-white) and woman choice.
And women are showing more sexism than ever. Voting for Clinton. He is black, if you knew anything about the blk community, you would know that biracial people somewhat race they want to be in and apparently he has choosen the african american one, hence the way he describes and his african american wife. And thats very rude for you to say only Clintons supporters reflect the real American...oh yea and its NOT TRUE! n he isnt my "messiah", He's just a successful black man not a messiah.
Im not uneducated, so I can answer better than because he's black. I like his health care policy, I liked how he opposed the war from the beginning, and I like some of his economic proposal such as the second income tax check and more tax breaks for the majority (middle class america). I also like the way he carries himself, his campaign theme, and the journey he had to be, who he is today. My t.v. stays on cnn and I dicuss politics with my grandfathers. Why arent you voting for "BO", masss244?
Im not criticising Obama for his choice. However, when its beneficial for Obama he and his supporters highlight his white mother and how he was raised by white grandparents. If Obama loves these people how could he sit in a church for 20 years where the pastor made racist comments. He also made some very negative comments about whites in his first book. A whole book about his black father who abandoned him. If a white candidate's pastor made the same comments he would be branded a racist.
First of all, He mentions his white family members to let people know, he knows how things are on both sides of the racial divide, to some extent. If you believe that use should believe that McCain uses being a POW for his benefit. And Clinton TRIES to be a feminist to some extent for her benefit, even though several feminist are angered because she tried to say everyone was picking on her in the media and for other reasons also. They tried to brand him as a racist, but it didnt work.
Cont. Obama sat in the church because that man helped him find his faith in Christ, he was loyal to Wright. And Im sure you know, if you love someone, its hard to let them go, when they say or do something you dont agree with. No disrespect, but if you researched the black church alittle bit, you would be able to understand why Wright said some of the things he said, to some extent. They were racist comments and I disagree with them, but doing research I know where he was coming from, alittle.
As a person who doesnt go to church I am not the best person to understand. I can tell you that my parents attended a church for 6mos, but left for another church when the pastor made comments about gays and abortion that conflicted with their personal views. Im sure there are black pastors that are less recial, and Obama knew what was up with Wright within months of attending that Church. If we are going to have an honest discussion about race it can't only be about what whites have done wrong.
What are you talking about??? When did I say Whites only did something wrong???...NEVER. First off I'm white black and puerto rican...so I'm not going to point fingers. And like I said Rev. Wright introduced Christ to Obama, basically...so therefore its a little different from your parts, unless the pastor at that court directly went up to them at one point and had a heart to heart with them, helping them find Christ. Its funny you just tried to play the race card with me.
I wasn't trying to insult you or play the race card on you. What I'm saying is that Obama has said he wants an honest discussion on race. UnfortunatelY an honest discussion abou race often turns into a discussion about white opression. What about the behavior of so many young black males? The failure of the black community to take responsibility for itself? When people like Bill Cosby points out any issue on the other side it is branded rasict. Political correctness inhibits honest discussion.
Well thats what it seemed like you were doing. And its not unfortunate, its just some whites are scared to talk about what there ancestors did. PERIOD. This is literally what happened White people forbade Blacks to read and write, thus giving whites a 200 yearhead start in modern education. They also didnt allow us to act freely or behave in way we would have liked...so yes that would make us "behind" behaviorially. It does inhibit honest discussion, its just some cant take the real honesty.
I'm just trying to be honest from my perspective. Believe me any one who has grown up since the 1980's has been hit over the head about how bad white oppression is. If my ancestors treated blacks badly I'm sorry, but I never have. That should not give blacks a free pass to not take responsibility for their actions. A minority of the of the black community makes everyone else look very bad, but because of blacks racial solidarity there are not enough black leaders calling these people out.
No. it wasnt you, but the stuff YOUR direct ancestors did directly effect what goes on in this world today and how my people are(education and behavior). is that right or wrong?? N no we dont have a "free pass" to not take responsibility. The majority of us dont scapegoat. I'm just telling you the reality of the situation. And when looking at reality u have to realize the past.
Having lived in the deep south, I understand very well the dynamic between blacks and whites. I've spoken with blacks, liberal and conservative whites and I find that most experiences are based upon some realities, and some assumptions. However, we should analyze the facts for an objective standpoint. Also, race discussion do not take place because it is too painful for parties to hear and accept the truth without automatically assuming it is aimed at them personally.
Exactly. Im reading a book called the Isis Paper, its about race, its from a black womans point of view and the next book I will read will be from white persons point of view, its all about educating yourself on the past and educating your self from multiple points of view. And on a sidenote. I live in Baltimore. And you would believe the amount of mix(white/black) children or people i have in my neighborhood. So, things are getting better.
We live in a country where a black person can get away saying outrageous things about white people with no consequence. When a white makes an honest criticism of the black community he is branded a racist. Listen to how many black comedians use a large portion of their routine to make fun of whites and no one is shocked. If a white comedian said the same thing about blacks he would be called a KKK member. Blacks can say what they want but whites are silenced in this country. Thats not honest.
OMGOSH!!! Its because of the history of this country!!! How dont you understand that? We were slaves, thus making a race joke not that funny. You guys werent slaves, thus making it more socially acceptable. For example, if some said "shut up thats gay"... you wouldnt get mad if your not gay, usually. BUT if someone said that and you were gay u might find that offense...its the context in which you use something, that makes it hurt sometimes...not what you actually said. how old are you?
I'm attempting to have an honest and respectful discussion with you, and you have already all but called me an immature racist. This is why we can't have an honest discussion about race in this country, and it does not benefit either race.
Trust me Armani, blacks do not believe all white people are racist. And to be fair, the point that I am making is that these primaries reflect a hidden resentment based upon nothing. On several occasions, Obama has tried to make the same points (though in a slightly different way) as you are making now. In fact, many blacks do. Yet, this gets buried under the assumption that he is the democratic nominee because he is a black man or that blacks didn't vote for Hillary because she is white.
And you pull the race card on me. Lets not points fingers. Im sry if it seemed like i was doing that, but this is a serious issue that needs to be address and you cant be sensitive when addressing it..and thats the truth.
And just a little FYI, my very best friend in the whole world is White, so I know the "white persons world" a little bit also. I know SOME white people say racist or socially unacceptable things when blacks arent around. He tells me. And I know how SOME whites try to act "hip" when blacks are around, then act totally differently when they arent around.
You're right. Many whites treat blacks like children worrying taht any honest conversation about race will lead to a temper tantrum. When blacks stop treating every disagreement or cultural difference as being racist, maybe we can begin to be honest with each other and start understanding one another.
I don't see how I pulled the race card on you, or how you could consider my comments as pointing you out. I'm just saying Obama has called for an honest discussion on race. A discussion is a dialogue about relevant issues not a monologue to the white community about about white oppression. Obama's victory should illustrate America is not the inherently racist country that some would like to believe.
Well you said this: If we are going to have an honest discussion about race it can't only be about what whites have done wrong. Thus meaning, you thought i was only saying White's did this ...White's did that. But I wasnt. I was just saying what happened in history. Most "relevant issues" stem from the past(slavery, the rape of our women, forbidding us from reading and writing). So we have to talk about White oppression...but you the majority of whites dont wanna talk about that.
You're right whites have to accept how the legacy of racism affects the black community today. However, just as many whites don't want to discuss this there are many blacks who don't want to discuss the problems in the black community. Whites must acknowledge the past, and blacks must realize that blind racial solidarity does not advance their interests. A great amount of white racism in society today stems from behavior of a minority in the black community and not feelings of racial supremacy.
Well, I strongly disagree with that point Armani. I believe white racism stems from a historical and generational theme predating even American racism. Conversely, I would say that the small black racist exists due to continued prejudices (whether we, you, see them or not) inflicted. Racism does not need to rise to the level of "racial supremacy." It may exist in the assumptions that blacks make "blind choices" ... without regard to factors that may have made them make the choice. Further
Thats very true. Blacks do need take control of what going on in there community and try to change it, instead of scapegoating. I honestly just want everyone of all races to get along. But in order to do that, we have to have a in-depth, hard hitting conversation that acknowledges the past, addresses the present, and set a foundation down on where we want to go in the future. I recommend a book called The Isis Paper, its alittle black exremist, but definately makes good points & food for thought
As I remember, Obama served 11 years as a policy maker - 7 at the state level and 4 at the federal level. Wouldn't this be climbing the ladder and paying dues? Couldn't you make the reciprocal argument that Hillary simply became a US senator of a state she isn't from because she was a Clinton, without having served on the state level or other capacity? What is the objective argument?
You make some good ponts. It may be provincial, but honestly I like a president who understands me and my culture. I now live in NYC but grew up in midwest, and almost instinctively prefer midwestern and southern candidates. The experience issue is more a matter of knowing Hillary. Shes been on the scene for almost 20 years. I believe the media did fall in love with Obama and until the Wright scandal helped him to achieve a string of victories with glowing coverage. The media is mostly to blame.
I can understand that point. Which is why, so long as she is a viable candidate, I don't mind that women support Hillary Clinton. The great thing about America, however, is that we have a Constitution and a Congress to protect the rights of the people. The president (w/ exception to choosing the next Supreme Ct. justice upon death) has very little to do with that threat. However, think -- why would a man with a white grandma who admittedly made racial comments, yet raised Obama, attempt to
usurp your cultural values? This is why, I believe, he told the stories he did of his past -- to let people know that he is for them and that he has some understanding. Yet, the media has soap opera'd every word and association. For example, there is no way you're going to get me to believe Bill Clinton is a racist --c'mon. Yet some blacks hold resentment to his Jesse. J comment. A stupid comment, but he's no racist. Again, we should consider the objective argument.
Cont. It seems like some Whites dont want to speak about that and begin to take it personal, but from our perspective, the past has alot to do with whats going on today, thats why we mention white oppression. Please, believe that racism isnt over since Obama beat HRD. This shows progress, alot of progress. And im sure the majority doesnt think the US is a "racist country"...especially now in days, but racism still does occur from white to blk, from blk to white, from blk to iraqi. and so on.
(3) the discussion must begin with an acceptance of simply what is and was. Yet, not of this has to do with the fact that Obama is not an anti-white candidate. Obama did not get into office because blacks hate whites. If it is the case that blacks felt honored to have someone represent them, and he is a viable candidate according to your words, then why are bloggers angry? Why aren't democrats supporting him regardless? Since when did the academic /equality party become angry for nothing?
However, people tend to make the emotional argument, only suiting the facts to mirror our side. There are a few things I thought Obama should done differently, as I do Hillary. But I recognize them both as good candidates, viable by your own admission. Why should his "exotic" childhood matter, when he is looking to make the country better? Are we not all americans? This is traditionally a republican's way of thinking.
True, the media fell in love with Obama. But I think it was more that his perspective aligned genuinely with the way people felt and his policies were reasonable and made just as much sense as Clintons. To be perfectly honest, I think the Black community seemed to be (until the Wright and race interjections) excited about both candidates and did not want another republican in office; that is wasn't only Obama. Sadly, unless Democrats realize what is happening, it might be too late. Gas $10?
I believe it is more than Obama's race. It his exoctic childhood in Indonesia and Hawaii tham many working class voters have trouble connecting with. Additionally, it seems like he has only been a Senator for a few years who has been running for President for most of his tenure. Paying ones dues is a huge factor for me. The party seems to have been hijacked by newly registered voters. Finally, there is the feeling that the national media is in love with Obama and has given him a pass.
The places may have been different but he went through some of the same struggles and grew up with a single parent. Talking about paying dues, the beginning of Hilary's opprotunities came from Bill and thats the honest truth. She married into political machine. It wasnt a higjacking, it was every vote counts, even young ones. Thats something Hilary advocated towards the end of her campaign. Maybe its just the media doesnt like the Clinton's that much for things they have done in the past? hmmm.
I apologize if that was your impression. I was not calling all blacks out, but rather a certain attitude prevalent among some in the black community that whites are to blame for all race problems, and that it is impossible for a black person to be racist no matter what ridiculous things they say about whites.
Oh noooo. I know for a fact blacks can be racist. Sometimes I confront my black friends at the bball court about it. For example, if a white guy comes on the court all the blk guys will call him "white boy" and stuff. And i say to them "just imagine if you went to a predominantly white bball court and they called you "black boy", it wouldnt be cool, right?...so stop". I honestly try to see things from both a white and black point of view, and i try encourage others to do the same.
(2) it is this inability to really accept the reality of life that makes racial discussions hard. Additionally, and to the contrary, I think if you ask blacks whether certain problems exists in the black community...and even personally if they are their families have experienced certain problems, they would agree with open-ness. However, whites have a harder time with attributions given to the race as a whole, historically or presently, and often get very offended. However,
If I might add on, there are far too many instances where some assumption is made based upon no facts or articulated predicate. Yet, when a person of color responds to a question posed, some how they are labeled for starting the discussion in the first place. Blacks have generally not used the race card during these primaries. The question has generally been posed and framed by whites: yet blacks still tend to suggest that they were turned off by Clinton's tactics, not her race or gender.
Whites were turned off by Obama, just as some blacks were turned off by Clinton. So what are you saying? Both recieved the majority of the votes in there demographic. White women and Blacks.
Donna Brizile is speaking in code words..Racism.. She believes in the new Dem. Part. Whites and African Americans.. Well we will see wheather Mr. Obama is going to win in the November election.. Lets see if you win. Dem. voteing for McCain if Obama is nominated..That closet case.
Because like it or not America has chosen a Black man. Since you can't handle that, go ahead and vote for 4 more years of McBush. It is that kind of logic that is at the heart of why this country is in such a mess in the first place.
lakshmi313...Uh? There has been no presidential election? And because Bo is black that makes him above evryone???Whats wrong with you? The Dem. presidential nomination is not over with...Yes, thank-you, we will! The Core Dems are going to vote for McCain. Because of the rasism which obama thugs have displayed. Bo is a fraud-he is'nt even Black. It shameful how he has hoodwinked and bambozzed blk community. They are evn attacking each other. For what? This corrupt,he has no substance
Why would core democrats vote for McCain, particularly when he endorses the same views Democrats have traditionally refuted and has continuously contradicted himself in classic stereo-political style? And for someone who researches the policy issues, researched thousands of bills, laws, and has watched media coverage concerning, I can say with credibility that your characterization of what happened is totally void of reason is simply a fallacious 'emotion' argument.
Additionally, facts suggest that a larger percentage of voters who supported Obama would still have supported Clinton anyway compared to the other way around. For a candidate (Hillary) who has admitted over again that Obama would be a good president who shared similar views, this would seem to indicate that if C your "core dems"? supported McCain, it would be because of the "racism" that - to use your terminology - "clinton thugs" have displayed.
A presidential election is not a job promotion. You can scream racism until your blue in the face, but no one is going to hand Obama the presidency. Obama managed to narrowly win the demoractic primary, lets see if he can win in the general where most people resent being reminded how racist they are. Only elite white liberals filled with guilt will tolerate that BS.
I was responding to Mass's comment saying that Obama supporters were "racist thugs", though statistics seemed to indicate for most of the primary that a larger percentage of Obama supporters would have voted for Hillary anyway than the other way around. I was showing that his/her words do not match what is actually going on -- just a purely hate and emotional based argument. As an Independent, regardless of if it were Obama or Clinton, I would not like to see more of the same 8 years.
The statistics also show Obama got 90% of the black vote. As soon as the blacks got a viable candidate they abandoned Hillary en masse. Don't tell me race didn't play a factor. Why is it ok for blacks to choose Obama because he is half black, but its racist for whites to choose a white candidate?
(1) Well first armani, thanks for making the discussion a bit more analytical. My comments are in the spirit of unifying your party because it is the best hope for our country's future. I do not believe it is racist for a white candidate to vote for a white candidate. Technically, "experience" wise, Senator Biden had the most Washington experience of both candidates - and he is a white man. But, both race AND gender played a significant role in deciding these primaries - not one alone ->
(4) I would like to take this debate a bit further. However, YT only alots you so many words. Send me a message. because I want to hear what you have to say more in depth.
(3) I would like to see the democratic party united because it is the best chance for a better America. I disagree with comments such as mass's because in watching and researching, I know they are simply not true. Just fed to voters who never took an unbiased examination. A perfect example is this video: Brazile was actually a Clinton supporter! She merely makes the point that she will support any demographic candidate. However, it sparks an emotional response and it is taken out of context.
medianlitz typical bo paid blogger. Whore! Yeah- we will see if duped Blk community and
egg-head guilt-ridden, extreme left wing radicals are going to win election. Well Bo thugs should have realized that before they went around attacking everyone for campaigning for their candidate. Now we will see this election. Why are you voting for Bo.because he is blk. He is a blackmailed, controled macdaddy. Words of Rev Manning. Birds of feather flock together. Ayers, Wright,FPelger. Hate!
lol. again a very short-ill thought out comment. Well, I am not a paid blogger. Nor am I republican or a democrat. A lawyer, but a paid blogger. However, notice the comments to the blogs demonstrate EXACTLY what I am referring to. Without looking to the big picture, you'd rather not vote for someone based upon race, and ensure more of the same 8 years. Racism at its classic. lol.
mediablitz I don't find comments as being racist? I don't see anyone stating they can't vote for Bo. Because he of mixed heritage. I see people state he campaigned as a race baiter, he is too inexperienced, his judgment is questioned because of his associations with haters and dividers(20 yrs). But of course he threw them under the bus when they no longer served his purpose. Uhmmm-so much much for loyalty. Wonder what he do when Michelle's Whitey tape hits the Y/T?
Well mass, I think if you took a step back (assuming you don't have an ulterior motive) you will see the arguments you are making are flawed and ungrounded. Generally, the Demo. party is a well-thinking machine. However, this year it appears supporters are allowing their emotions to possibly make the biggest decision this country faces.
My statements are not unsupported. How is enforced and de facto segregation not a symbol of the racial strife that predated Supreme Court decisions of the 1950's and subsequent civil rights legislation? I think it's fair to say that if these events didn't happen, Jim Crow would still be in effect. While enforced busing certainly flopped and affirmative action programs have their weaknesses, I do think this country needed the anti-discrimination statues currently on the books.
If Hillary loses, she should go back to the Senate and fight for the people's need there. Working under Obama or supporting him,is like giving him more prestige. Let him undergo his battle alone. We want to see Hillary become president and if not now then in 2011. The disenfranchised voters will not be fooled with Obama presence in their states now. He has taken away their voices and that is not going to be forgotten so easily. The Republicans are going to win because of the DNC foolishness.
WTF is wrong with you u make obama sound like the enemy both him and hillary have great ideas that can help our nation divition and stupidity is wut ruins this country im glad i get to vote because if not idiots like u get a vote 2
It's just not fair that the DNC want to give 50% of Michigan & Florida delegates to Obama. It shows how corrupted they all are. They just don't want Hillary, a woman to be the president. Come November, I hope that the disenfranchised voters of Hillary will not vote for Obama but vote for McKain or not vote at all. Teach the crooks a lesson! It shows how undemocratic this election is and people are getting fed up. Hillary shouldn't give up & support Obama, but go back to the Senate if she loses.
Hillary wouldn't have been the only one on the ballot if Obama hadn't removed his name. I'm not blaming Obama for this debacle though it was the fault of the DNC. If they had punished MI and FL by cutting their delegates in half like the Republican Party did with the states who voted early we wouldnt be in this mess.
Actually more people have voted for Clinton than Obama. However, I understand that under the delegate/proportional primary system, Obama has more elected delegates. Maybe after Obama loses against McCain the party will wise up and switch to a winner take all system. We reformed the primary system after Humpfrey and McGovern, we will do the same post Obama.
Look into Obama, his mother, his minister, Ayers, etc. are all Ford Foundation connected. FF is a domestic counter insurgency operation controlled by the intelligence community.
This is all CFR, IFO, NWO intervention into US politics.
Obama would be Jimmy Carter II.
And most of you are too young to understand or remember what a total disaster JC was.
The same people who put JC in office, are behind Obama.
There has been a massive media campaign to promote Obama and make him appear to be the inevitable winner, the same thing was done with Clinton in his first election.
TV watchers do not know they are being brainwashed. TV watchers do not think for themselves, their expectations are conditioned by the MSM.
Obama is part of a intelligence community program, one of many influencing our "democracy" and TV watchers are too blind to see this.
Obama in the gen will constantly - permanently be on the defensive about his patriotism, his liberalism, his judgment, his lack of leadership and experience.
He will spend all of his energy defending himself and his "vision". But beyond jingoism, no one wants to be told what they have to be to be a patriot.
All it will take is another well timed false flag attack and the mass of people will vote their fears and McCain an extremely weak candidate otherwise, will win.
This is not racism, this is identity politics. Neither blacks or whites who decide one way or the other are racists, they are simply voting for the candidate they feel more comfortable with based on identity factors.
In fact the polling shows AGE is just as strong a factor in this primary as is race.
Begala is right you can't win the general with eggheads and African Americans.
That is just a fact and it is not racist to say so.
Brazile says we don't need those white working class voters and we are not going to let them dominate the party.
Ok, fine, there goes the Democrat coalition and there goes the reason for supporting the Democrat party for the swing voters who will determine the outcome of the election
Democratic White House hopeful Barack Obama is giving $2,300 in presidential campaign contributions to charity -- money he got from Aiham Alsammarae, a dual U.S.-Iraqi citizen who posted more than $2.7 million in property to help spring Tony Rezko from jail.
I think what's repulsive to those voters is his blackness. And tell me how you come to the conclusion that Obama is racist--save for the fact that apparently you are and therefore, so must everyone be. Also, Hillary and her surrogates have played every David Duke, Nixonian, Southern Strategy race-card they could think of, and now Obama's the one who's racist? Surely, the weed you must be smoking is outstanding stuff, because you've obviously lost your mind.
What leads me to believe the fact that Obama may be a racist is that he sat in pew and listened to a racist minister rant for 20 years. Obama is only winning the dem nomination because he got 92% black support. The point of concern is blacks make up over a quarter of voters in the dem primary. In the general, however they compose less than 10%. You do the math. The liberals in the party have sent a message and cost us the election. By the way who did win the 1968 election? Think about it.
Obama became a front runner because he won Iowa. He took 70% of the vote in Nebraska and easily won Wyoming. While his support is strong among blacks it's not the reason he's doing well.
As far as racism, Obama's biracial. His mother was white and his father black. He has the least reason to be racist of any candidate ever. Obama's in fact repeatedly downplayed racial divisions (see his North Carolina speech).
With the exception of small states in the middle of the country that we will never win in the general and Iowa, VA, WA, and MD. He has lost the white vote in most large demographically mixed states. Most of predominantly white states he won were also caucuses which tend to attract the most liberal members of the party.
As to your second point about racism. Do you find it strange that Obama seems to switch between being black and bi-racial depending on the situation. Before the election Obama wrote a whole book about his black father he barely knew but barely mentioned his white mother, married a black woman and joined a racist black church. Obama shouldn't pull out the I'm 1/2 white and I can bridge the racial divide card whenever he pleases. He obviously abandoned that part of his identity a long time ago.
DerekLamar, Way to live in a fantasy world where you can just insult people who don't agree with you, and win an argument. To bad for you, you can't get rid of 1/2 the country for the election.
I find it interesting that a lot of talk is about how "Obama is struggling attracting white voters."
Have you ever thought "White voters are struggling being attracted to Obama?"
Why can't these so-called "average americans" open their minds and come to him. Why can't they get over their own stereotypical views? They need to wake the hell up and stop living in the past and realize that the "good old days" were good only to them. Or maybe that's why they're voting for Clinton...
Why don't people just come out and admit what no one wants to say. Eggheads = the informed. That's why Obama is appealing to us, bc he treats us like adults. Clinton and McCain play off people's baser passions and instincts. Obama raises us up.
Eggheads are the same people who brought us the '60s. The great society we are still trying to pay for, crime ridden projects that are now falling apart, and a civil rights agenda which caused the cities to riot and led to unprecedented racial strife. Excuse me if I don't want the country turned over again to a bunch of well intentioned but naive liberals.
No one can defend Jim Crow, but to say the way the civil rights agenda was implemented didn't lead to riots and racial strife is ridiculous. If Jim Crow caused them how do you explain the lack of riots between 1870-1960? It may be a shock to some liberals, but racism may not be blamed for all of our country's ills. Most white amercans are not inherently racist, and a good amount of racism that does exist is caused by the privileged liberal elites projecting their white guilt onto everyone.
Um, there were race riots between 1870 and 1960., Atlanta 1906 and Tulsa 1921 to name two. But who's counting those because these riots occurred back in the good old days when minorities and women were kept in their places, right? Give me a break. BTW most liberals do not blame racism for all of the country's ills. We're the ones who understand that complex issues cannot be solved by simple solutions. It's lazy (and wrong) to blame the civil rights agenda for all that's wrong with America.
Typical liberal distortion of the facts. Ok you named two between 1870-1960. Can you honestly tell me that you can find a 10 year period before the 60's and after the civil war where there was the same frequency of civil disorder and unrest in America as in between 1960-70. Discrimination will stop being a problem when the government quits discriminating based on race, but I suppose thats too simple of a solution for you. Excuse me for using common sense.
Sorry, I didn't know you expected a book report on this subject. I only knew two race riots off the top of my head but I'm guessing there were more. And that's not common sense to believe race will stop being a problem when the government stops interfering. That's the exact opposite of common sense. It couldn't have been the history of race relations pre-dating the 1960's that inevitably led to these riots, could it? No, it's one decade that accounts for this srt of chaos. Ok....
I don't expect a report, but if you want to make a blanket statement that white opression caused the racial stife and riots of the 60s back it up with facts. Otherwise keep your unsupported statements to yourself. Dont make a smartass comment to me because youre making points you cant support. Also remember desegregation began in the 50's. The violence didn't really begin until the govt ordered busing and outlawed private disc. The govt should remain neutral on race, in the 60s it took sides.
Put succintly government enforced segregation was wrong, and in the 50's the govt was right to abolish it. However, enforced integration through busing, affirmative action, and anti discrimination statutes against private individuals is just as wrong as enforced segregation was.
You must not have read or understood my earlier comments. I believe it was wrong for govt to pass laws that compelled segregation. Public schools and public institutions should have never been segregated. However, the govt is also wrong to compel integration through busing, affirmative action, empolyment, and anti-discrimination laws. Govt shouldnt act as thought police. If a black landlord doesn't want to rent to a white person why should he be forced to and vice versa with a white landlord.
And yet, she responds, in all her self righteousness that he has had more beers with "joe and jane six pack". One is no better than the other. Boy, you people are ridiculous.
the party could not win in November with just "eggheads and African-Americans," that the party could not ignore white middle-class voters. Those U.N. protocols would make U.S. law on issues ranging from the 2nd Amendment to energy usage and parental rights all subservient to United Nations whims.WorldNetDaily
Obama bill: $845 billion more for global poverty
Democrat sponsors act OK'd by Senate panel that would cost 0.7% of gross national product
hi54uall2> man you are so blind and wrong! hillary got treated better than she deserved for! she is the one who started using negative(understatement)attack on her own fellow democrat!slashing and burning anything in site!cmon man she was the prohibitive favorite by everyone in the democractic party!she had money, organization, power within the party, and contributors lined up to give money! the people just liked barack better because i way more onest that hillary!
Don't get me wrong here. Negative attacks on a opponent are common in politics. Obama did it, Hillary did it. Obama can be her fellow democrat, but still she is RUNNING AGAINST HIM NOT AGAINST ANYONE ELSE. Even today someone in the media argued her attacks on obama are weakening the party. Running for president is her dream, which seems to be slipping away. Would you be partying with obama while you are losing for obama ?. ALL SHOULD REMEMBER THAT AT THIS TIME SHE IS RUNNING AGAINST OBAMA.
Talk about media, cmon man turn on cnn or msnbc. I don't want them to support her but stay away from attacks. David schuster in MSNBC today arguing vehemently, that hillary is destroying the party by staying in the race while saying she has every right to stay in the race. He says she should not attack Obama on anything. In WV and in other states, WHO IS SHE RUNNING AGAINST.OBAMA.WHY CAN'T SHE ATTACK HIM, WHY CAN'T SHE TELL HIS WEAKNESSES ?. IT IS NOT HER DREAM TO SUPPORT OBAMA WHILE SHE S LOSING
Terry M.. and Pat B...sumed it up well..no one will win without the super delgates..david S bashes clinton any chance he can because he was suspended two weeks and had to apoligize so this is his way of trying to get even...Poor Obama people pick on him..wait until Nov
Media is so unfair to Hillary. No idea why ?. From the beginning, before each primary the pundits begin to analyze the scenario where she loses the race. This happens even before people go to polls. These discussions give many voters the wrong idea that she is losing. For example, yesterday morning MSNBC said Hillary is about to quit the race while she was campaigning in WV. Nobody would like to vote someone who is evantually going to drop out.Exitpolls are released even before the polls are closed
CNN = Conditioning Not News / Clinton News Network.
The political directors at CNN in their attempts at playing 'Presidential Gate Keepers' have been seen promoting and propping up Slithery Hillary on the left and BombBombIran McInsane on the right (the RudyMcRomney Candidate) since day 1 of this Presidential Election Cycle. They have obfuscated, slandered, and done their best to push asunder the Campaign of Ron Paul and his Constitutionalist Platform since day 1. See why:
CNN does not report on people who have no shot at all at winning a nomination, it's just business, Ron Paul equats to changing the channel. THATs what drive all news networks, ratings, don't fool yourself. there is no agenda other than making money.
Brazile tells bengala "you insult every black..." Can someone explain the logic. Then the double standard...latinos and working class whites are part of the old coalition...Its ok to insult working class whites and latinos but not blacks... thanks for telling us what new democratic coalition is all about.
Brazile is responding to Begala's claim that Obama's coalition is worthless. She never said that Hillary's coalition is worthless. You sorely missed the point.
This guy should be repremanded or taken off CNN!I talked to alot of people who saw this on CNN white and black and hispanic were pissed off at that guy!And what's up with that lady smirkin and repeating that stupid @$#%eggheads and blacks comment!Hey Olberman,we got one, check this guy's ass!!CNN stand's for, Counter nigger network! This ain't over Begala, you about to become the new Don Imus.
I have observed the host lady's outrageous comments like advocating rush limbaugh like a credible source, she is irrational and dumb, but only scared of many smart people aroud her
I think she don't deserve being on CNN, she should unite with her Fox & family, until America's true patriots raid and resque them like Texas poligamist ranch
For the stupid ass stating Obama plays the race card when convient your just a plain idiot. I believe his mother is white & is father is black. Ask yourself this why does the media not do research on his white relatives. The answer is they know people like you can be easily controlled or manipulated by subliminal messages & clips.
If Obama is crucified for Rev. Wright what about politicans in catholic churches ignoring pedophilia for yrs. John McClain racist pastor John Hagee.
Does anyone else find it strange that Obama seems to switch between being black and bi-racial depending on the situation. Before the election Obama wrote a whole book about his black father he barely knew but barely mentioned his white mom, married a black woman and joined a racist black church. Obama shouldn't pull out the I'm 1/2 white and I can bridge the racial divide card whenever he pleases. He obviously abandoned that part of his identity a long time ago.

Also, see Jbunny's initial post.

funnybunny1333 3 years ago 5
Hmm...so another way of stating your point would be (majority of) white people voted for mccain/palin, simply b/c they typically support the gop. Let's test your theory...why do you think so many non-majority "white" voters voted Democrat - which ultimately lead to a major defeat of the gop?
djw80158 3 years ago

BLACKS... and i agree with you, DONNA BRAZILE IS A BLACK RACIST, to her it's black or nothing (no white, latino, asian etc.)
eleguis3 3 years ago
Jbunnyrabbit 3 years ago 6
Wow, eleguis, what a revelation. Obama won 99% of the black vote. And John Kerry won 95%, so did Al Gore. Bill Clinton got 96% of the black vote. Notice a pattern here, Democrats win the black vote no matter who their nominee is. Oh, and Donna Brazile was the campaign manager for Al Gore in 2000, isn't Al Gore white? It was Paul Begala belittling Obama's victory, saying that it was black voters that won it for him in the North Carolina primary, so she bitchslapped him. Btw, PRESIDENT OBAMA

Why are y v/Bo?
masss244 3 years ago
Mass244 I do believe Obama is really black. The problem is he is too black. Why is it that its always the lightest black people with white ancestors who turn out to be the most racist nationalists? Rev. Wright is as white as cotton. Obama is a modern day Malcolm X.
armani11280 3 years ago
(2) However, armani, I do believe it becomes sexist and racist when voters jump the ship simply based upon a candidate's race or sex. Ex. break the 90% down. Some voters were never on the Clinton ship (newer voters), and some turned off voters left re: direct tactics - not just racial remarks - by her and her campaign. What I do not agree with, however, are trends such as white men who abandoned your party's ticket when left with a black (or non-white) and woman choice.
mediablitz030 3 years ago
And women are showing more sexism than ever. Voting for Clinton. He is black, if you knew anything about the blk community, you would know that biracial people somewhat race they want to be in and apparently he has choosen the african american one, hence the way he describes and his african american wife. And thats very rude for you to say only Clintons supporters reflect the real American...oh yea and its NOT TRUE! n he isnt my "messiah", He's just a successful black man not a messiah.

bbalvarsity Why are you voting for Bo???
masss244 3 years ago
Im not uneducated, so I can answer better than because he's black. I like his health care policy, I liked how he opposed the war from the beginning, and I like some of his economic proposal such as the second income tax check and more tax breaks for the majority (middle class america). I also like the way he carries himself, his campaign theme, and the journey he had to be, who he is today. My t.v. stays on cnn and I dicuss politics with my grandfathers. Why arent you voting for "BO", masss244?
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
Im not criticising Obama for his choice. However, when its beneficial for Obama he and his supporters highlight his white mother and how he was raised by white grandparents. If Obama loves these people how could he sit in a church for 20 years where the pastor made racist comments. He also made some very negative comments about whites in his first book. A whole book about his black father who abandoned him. If a white candidate's pastor made the same comments he would be branded a racist.
armani11280 3 years ago
First of all, He mentions his white family members to let people know, he knows how things are on both sides of the racial divide, to some extent. If you believe that use should believe that McCain uses being a POW for his benefit. And Clinton TRIES to be a feminist to some extent for her benefit, even though several feminist are angered because she tried to say everyone was picking on her in the media and for other reasons also. They tried to brand him as a racist, but it didnt work.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
They were racist comments and I disagree with them, but doing research I know where he was coming from, alittle.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
As a person who doesnt go to church I am not the best person to understand. I can tell you that my parents attended a church for 6mos, but left for another church when the pastor made comments about gays and abortion that conflicted with their personal views. Im sure there are black pastors that are less recial, and Obama knew what was up with Wright within months of attending that Church. If we are going to have an honest discussion about race it can't only be about what whites have done wrong.
armani11280 3 years ago
What are you talking about??? When did I say Whites only did something wrong???...NEVER. First off I'm white black and puerto rican...so I'm not going to point fingers. And like I said Rev. Wright introduced Christ to Obama, basically...so therefore its a little different from your parts, unless the pastor at that court directly went up to them at one point and had a heart to heart with them, helping them find Christ. Its funny you just tried to play the race card with me.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
I wasn't trying to insult you or play the race card on you. What I'm saying is that Obama has said he wants an honest discussion on race. UnfortunatelY an honest discussion abou race often turns into a discussion about white opression. What about the behavior of so many young black males? The failure of the black community to take responsibility for itself? When people like Bill Cosby points out any issue on the other side it is branded rasict. Political correctness inhibits honest discussion.
armani11280 3 years ago
Well thats what it seemed like you were doing. And its not unfortunate, its just some whites are scared to talk about what there ancestors did. PERIOD. This is literally what happened White people forbade Blacks to read and write, thus giving whites a 200 yearhead start in modern education. They also didnt allow us to act freely or behave in way we would have liked...so yes that would make us "behind" behaviorially. It does inhibit honest discussion, its just some cant take the real honesty.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
I'm just trying to be honest from my perspective. Believe me any one who has grown up since the 1980's has been hit over the head about how bad white oppression is. If my ancestors treated blacks badly I'm sorry, but I never have. That should not give blacks a free pass to not take responsibility for their actions. A minority of the of the black community makes everyone else look very bad, but because of blacks racial solidarity there are not enough black leaders calling these people out.
armani11280 3 years ago
No. it wasnt you, but the stuff YOUR direct ancestors did directly effect what goes on in this world today and how my people are(education and behavior). is that right or wrong?? N no we dont have a "free pass" to not take responsibility. The majority of us dont scapegoat. I'm just telling you the reality of the situation. And when looking at reality u have to realize the past.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
Having lived in the deep south, I understand very well the dynamic between blacks and whites. I've spoken with blacks, liberal and conservative whites and I find that most experiences are based upon some realities, and some assumptions. However, we should analyze the facts for an objective standpoint. Also, race discussion do not take place because it is too painful for parties to hear and accept the truth without automatically assuming it is aimed at them personally.
mediablitz030 3 years ago
So, things are getting better.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
We live in a country where a black person can get away saying outrageous things about white people with no consequence. When a white makes an honest criticism of the black community he is branded a racist. Listen to how many black comedians use a large portion of their routine to make fun of whites and no one is shocked. If a white comedian said the same thing about blacks he would be called a KKK member. Blacks can say what they want but whites are silenced in this country. Thats not honest.
armani11280 3 years ago
OMGOSH!!! Its because of the history of this country!!! How dont you understand that? We were slaves, thus making a race joke not that funny. You guys werent slaves, thus making it more socially acceptable. For example, if some said "shut up thats gay"... you wouldnt get mad if your not gay, usually. BUT if someone said that and you were gay u might find that offense...its the context in which you use something, that makes it hurt sometimes...not what you actually said. how old are you?
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
I'm attempting to have an honest and respectful discussion with you, and you have already all but called me an immature racist. This is why we can't have an honest discussion about race in this country, and it does not benefit either race.
armani11280 3 years ago
Trust me Armani, blacks do not believe all white people are racist. And to be fair, the point that I am making is that these primaries reflect a hidden resentment based upon nothing. On several occasions, Obama has tried to make the same points (though in a slightly different way) as you are making now. In fact, many blacks do. Yet, this gets buried under the assumption that he is the democratic nominee because he is a black man or that blacks didn't vote for Hillary because she is white.
mediablitz030 3 years ago
And you pull the race card on me. Lets not points fingers. Im sry if it seemed like i was doing that, but this is a serious issue that needs to be address and you cant be sensitive when addressing it..and thats the truth.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
And just a little FYI, my very best friend in the whole world is White, so I know the "white persons world" a little bit also. I know SOME white people say racist or socially unacceptable things when blacks arent around. He tells me. And I know how SOME whites try to act "hip" when blacks are around, then act totally differently when they arent around.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
You're right. Many whites treat blacks like children worrying taht any honest conversation about race will lead to a temper tantrum. When blacks stop treating every disagreement or cultural difference as being racist, maybe we can begin to be honest with each other and start understanding one another.
armani11280 3 years ago
And you must know the history, you cant just say well i didnt have a slave. (not taking a hit at you, i know several whites that have said that).
bballvarsity24 3 years ago

So we have to talk about White oppression...but you the majority of whites dont wanna talk about that.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
You're right whites have to accept how the legacy of racism affects the black community today. However, just as many whites don't want to discuss this there are many blacks who don't want to discuss the problems in the black community. Whites must acknowledge the past, and blacks must realize that blind racial solidarity does not advance their interests. A great amount of white racism in society today stems from behavior of a minority in the black community and not feelings of racial supremacy.
armani11280 3 years ago
Well, I strongly disagree with that point Armani. I believe white racism stems from a historical and generational theme predating even American racism. Conversely, I would say that the small black racist exists due to continued prejudices (whether we, you, see them or not) inflicted. Racism does not need to rise to the level of "racial supremacy." It may exist in the assumptions that blacks make "blind choices" ... without regard to factors that may have made them make the choice. Further
mediablitz030 3 years ago
Thats very true. Blacks do need take control of what going on in there community and try to change it, instead of scapegoating. I honestly just want everyone of all races to get along. But in order to do that, we have to have a in-depth, hard hitting conversation that acknowledges the past, addresses the present, and set a foundation down on where we want to go in the future. I recommend a book called The Isis Paper, its alittle black exremist, but definately makes good points & food for thought
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
As I remember, Obama served 11 years as a policy maker - 7 at the state level and 4 at the federal level. Wouldn't this be climbing the ladder and paying dues? Couldn't you make the reciprocal argument that Hillary simply became a US senator of a state she isn't from because she was a Clinton, without having served on the state level or other capacity? What is the objective argument?
mediablitz030 3 years ago
You make some good ponts. It may be provincial, but honestly I like a president who understands me and my culture. I now live in NYC but grew up in midwest, and almost instinctively prefer midwestern and southern candidates. The experience issue is more a matter of knowing Hillary. Shes been on the scene for almost 20 years. I believe the media did fall in love with Obama and until the Wright scandal helped him to achieve a string of victories with glowing coverage. The media is mostly to blame.
armani11280 3 years ago
It seems like you cannot give Obama his full credit. At least you came to grips with your bias. Not trying to be rude, by the way.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
I can understand that point. Which is why, so long as she is a viable candidate, I don't mind that women support Hillary Clinton. The great thing about America, however, is that we have a Constitution and a Congress to protect the rights of the people. The president (w/ exception to choosing the next Supreme Ct. justice upon death) has very little to do with that threat. However, think -- why would a man with a white grandma who admittedly made racial comments, yet raised Obama, attempt to
mediablitz030 3 years ago
usurp your cultural values? This is why, I believe, he told the stories he did of his past -- to let people know that he is for them and that he has some understanding. Yet, the media has soap opera'd every word and association. For example, there is no way you're going to get me to believe Bill Clinton is a racist --c'mon. Yet some blacks hold resentment to his Jesse. J comment. A stupid comment, but he's no racist. Again, we should consider the objective argument.
mediablitz030 3 years ago
Cont. It seems like some Whites dont want to speak about that and begin to take it personal, but from our perspective, the past has alot to do with whats going on today, thats why we mention white oppression. Please, believe that racism isnt over since Obama beat HRD. This shows progress, alot of progress. And im sure the majority doesnt think the US is a "racist country"...especially now in days, but racism still does occur from white to blk, from blk to white, from blk to iraqi. and so on.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
(3) the discussion must begin with an acceptance of simply what is and was. Yet, not of this has to do with the fact that Obama is not an anti-white candidate. Obama did not get into office because blacks hate whites. If it is the case that blacks felt honored to have someone represent them, and he is a viable candidate according to your words, then why are bloggers angry? Why aren't democrats supporting him regardless? Since when did the academic /equality party become angry for nothing?
mediablitz030 3 years ago
correction: "Obama did not get the nomination because etc..."
mediablitz030 3 years ago
However, people tend to make the emotional argument, only suiting the facts to mirror our side. There are a few things I thought Obama should done differently, as I do Hillary. But I recognize them both as good candidates, viable by your own admission. Why should his "exotic" childhood matter, when he is looking to make the country better? Are we not all americans? This is traditionally a republican's way of thinking.
mediablitz030 3 years ago
True, the media fell in love with Obama. But I think it was more that his perspective aligned genuinely with the way people felt and his policies were reasonable and made just as much sense as Clintons. To be perfectly honest, I think the Black community seemed to be (until the Wright and race interjections) excited about both candidates and did not want another republican in office; that is wasn't only Obama. Sadly, unless Democrats realize what is happening, it might be too late. Gas $10?
mediablitz030 3 years ago
I believe it is more than Obama's race. It his exoctic childhood in Indonesia and Hawaii tham many working class voters have trouble connecting with. Additionally, it seems like he has only been a Senator for a few years who has been running for President for most of his tenure. Paying ones dues is a huge factor for me. The party seems to have been hijacked by newly registered voters. Finally, there is the feeling that the national media is in love with Obama and has given him a pass.
armani11280 3 years ago
The places may have been different but he went through some of the same struggles and grew up with a single parent. Talking about paying dues, the beginning of Hilary's opprotunities came from Bill and thats the honest truth. She married into political machine. It wasnt a higjacking, it was every vote counts, even young ones. Thats something Hilary advocated towards the end of her campaign. Maybe its just the media doesnt like the Clinton's that much for things they have done in the past? hmmm.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
Very very well said!!!
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
No you taking this personal. And calling all blacks out. and I was asking for your age in disrespect, I was asking out of curiousity.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
I apologize if that was your impression. I was not calling all blacks out, but rather a certain attitude prevalent among some in the black community that whites are to blame for all race problems, and that it is impossible for a black person to be racist no matter what ridiculous things they say about whites.
armani11280 3 years ago
I honestly try to see things from both a white and black point of view, and i try encourage others to do the same.
bballvarsity24 3 years ago
(2) it is this inability to really accept the reality of life that makes racial discussions hard. Additionally, and to the contrary, I think if you ask blacks whether certain problems exists in the black community...and even personally if they are their families have experienced certain problems, they would agree with open-ness. However, whites have a harder time with attributions given to the race as a whole, historically or presently, and often get very offended. However,
mediablitz030 3 years ago
If I might add on, there are far too many instances where some assumption is made based upon no facts or articulated predicate. Yet, when a person of color responds to a question posed, some how they are labeled for starting the discussion in the first place. Blacks have generally not used the race card during these primaries. The question has generally been posed and framed by whites: yet blacks still tend to suggest that they were turned off by Clinton's tactics, not her race or gender.
mediablitz030 3 years ago
Whites were turned off by Obama, just as some blacks were turned off by Clinton. So what are you saying? Both recieved the majority of the votes in there demographic. White women and Blacks.

Go ahead~vote McCain.
Because like it or not America has chosen a Black man. Since you can't handle that, go ahead and vote for 4 more years of McBush. It is that kind of logic that is at the heart of why this country is in such a mess in the first place.
Priceless !

lakshmi313...Uh? There has been no presidential election? And because Bo is black that makes him above evryone???Whats wrong with you? The Dem. presidential nomination is not over with...Yes, thank-you, we will! The Core Dems are going to vote for McCain. Because of the rasism which obama thugs have displayed. Bo is a fraud-he is'nt even Black. It shameful how he has hoodwinked and bambozzed blk community. They are evn attacking each other. For what? This corrupt,he has no substance
masss244 3 years ago
Why would core democrats vote for McCain, particularly when he endorses the same views Democrats have traditionally refuted and has continuously contradicted himself in classic stereo-political style? And for someone who researches the policy issues, researched thousands of bills, laws, and has watched media coverage concerning, I can say with credibility that your characterization of what happened is totally void of reason is simply a fallacious 'emotion' argument.
mediablitz030 3 years ago
Additionally, facts suggest that a larger percentage of voters who supported Obama would still have supported Clinton anyway compared to the other way around. For a candidate (Hillary) who has admitted over again that Obama would be a good president who shared similar views, this would seem to indicate that if C your "core dems"? supported McCain, it would be because of the "racism" that - to use your terminology - "clinton thugs" have displayed.
mediablitz030 3 years ago
A presidential election is not a job promotion. You can scream racism until your blue in the face, but no one is going to hand Obama the presidency. Obama managed to narrowly win the demoractic primary, lets see if he can win in the general where most people resent being reminded how racist they are. Only elite white liberals filled with guilt will tolerate that BS.
armani11280 3 years ago
I was responding to Mass's comment saying that Obama supporters were "racist thugs", though statistics seemed to indicate for most of the primary that a larger percentage of Obama supporters would have voted for Hillary anyway than the other way around. I was showing that his/her words do not match what is actually going on -- just a purely hate and emotional based argument. As an Independent, regardless of if it were Obama or Clinton, I would not like to see more of the same 8 years.
mediablitz030 3 years ago
The statistics also show Obama got 90% of the black vote. As soon as the blacks got a viable candidate they abandoned Hillary en masse. Don't tell me race didn't play a factor. Why is it ok for blacks to choose Obama because he is half black, but its racist for whites to choose a white candidate?
armani11280 3 years ago
(1) Well first armani, thanks for making the discussion a bit more analytical. My comments are in the spirit of unifying your party because it is the best hope for our country's future. I do not believe it is racist for a white candidate to vote for a white candidate. Technically, "experience" wise, Senator Biden had the most Washington experience of both candidates - and he is a white man. But, both race AND gender played a significant role in deciding these primaries - not one alone ->
mediablitz030 3 years ago
(4) I would like to take this debate a bit further. However, YT only alots you so many words. Send me a message. because I want to hear what you have to say more in depth.
mediablitz030 3 years ago
(3) I would like to see the democratic party united because it is the best chance for a better America. I disagree with comments such as mass's because in watching and researching, I know they are simply not true. Just fed to voters who never took an unbiased examination. A perfect example is this video: Brazile was actually a Clinton supporter! She merely makes the point that she will support any demographic candidate. However, it sparks an emotional response and it is taken out of context.
mediablitz030 3 years ago
medianlitz typical bo paid blogger.
Hate!
masss244 3 years ago
lol. again a very short-ill thought out comment. Racism at its classic. lol.
mediablitz030 3 years ago
mediablitz I don't find comments as being racist? I don't see anyone stating they can't vote for Bo. Because he of mixed heritage. I see people state he campaigned as a race baiter, he is too inexperienced, his judgment is questioned because of his associations with haters and dividers(20 yrs). But of course he threw them under the bus when they no longer served his purpose. Uhmmm-so much much for loyalty. Wonder what he do when Michelle's Whitey tape hits the Y/T?
masss244 3 years ago
Well mass, I think if you took a step back (assuming you don't have an ulterior motive) you will see the arguments you are making are flawed and ungrounded. Generally, the Demo. party is a well-thinking machine. However, this year it appears supporters are allowing their emotions to possibly make the biggest decision this country faces.
mediablitz030 3 years ago
My statements are not unsupported. How is enforced and de facto segregation not a symbol of the racial strife that predated Supreme Court decisions of the 1950's and subsequent civil rights legislation? I think it's fair to say that if these events didn't happen, Jim Crow would still be in effect. While enforced busing certainly flopped and affirmative action programs have their weaknesses, I do think this country needed the anti-discrimination statues currently on the books.

We want to see Hillary become president and if not now then in 2011. The disenfranchised voters will not be fooled with Obama presence in their states now. He has taken away their voices and that is not going to be forgotten so easily. The Republicans are going to win because of the DNC foolishness.

All it will take is another well timed false flag attack and the mass of people will vote their fears and McCain an extremely weak candidate otherwise, will win.
leschwartz 3 years ago
This is not racism, this is identity politics. Neither blacks or whites who decide one way or the other are racists, they are simply voting for the candidate they feel more comfortable with based on identity factors.
In fact the polling shows AGE is just as strong a factor in this primary as is race.
leschwartz 3 years ago
Begala is right you can't win the general with eggheads and African Americans.
That is just a fact and it is not racist to say so.
Brazile says we don't need those white working class voters and we are not going to let them dominate the party.
Ok, fine, there goes the Democrat coalition and there goes the reason for supporting the Democrat party for the swing voters who will determine the outcome of the election
leschwartz 3 years ago
Obama won NC w/92% of black vote lost every other constituency 60/40
Apply that to the gen election and you have another huge loss
Democrat party keep nominating elitist losers because of the McGovern & Jackson overlays to the apportioning of delegates
Winners of GOP leaning states & of heavily minority districts get a MUCH greater proportional award of delegates in the primaries
And the fact that Decmocrat primary voters are significantly more liberal than the general election voter

JoseyJJJ 3 years ago
I think what's repulsive to those voters is his blackness. And tell me how you come to the conclusion that Obama is racist--save for the fact that apparently you are and therefore, so must everyone be. Also, Hillary and her surrogates have played every David Duke, Nixonian, Southern Strategy race-card they could think of, and now Obama's the one who's racist? Surely, the weed you must be smoking is outstanding stuff, because you've obviously lost your mind.
dlh77489 3 years ago
What leads me to believe the fact that Obama may be a racist is that he sat in pew and listened to a racist minister rant for 20 years. Obama is only winning the dem nomination because he got 92% black support. The point of concern is blacks make up over a quarter of voters in the dem primary. In the general, however they compose less than 10%. You do the math. The liberals in the party have sent a message and cost us the election. By the way who did win the 1968 election? Think about it.
armani11280 3 years ago
Obama became a front runner because he won Iowa. He took 70% of the vote in Nebraska and easily won Wyoming. While his support is strong among blacks it's not the reason he's doing well.
As far as racism, Obama's biracial. His mother was white and his father black. He has the least reason to be racist of any candidate ever. Obama's in fact repeatedly downplayed racial divisions (see his North Carolina speech).
hackiavelli 3 years ago
With the exception of small states in the middle of the country that we will never win in the general and Iowa, VA, WA, and MD. He has lost the white vote in most large demographically mixed states. Most of predominantly white states he won were also caucuses which tend to attract the most liberal members of the party.
armani11280 3 years ago
As to your second point about racism. Do you find it strange that Obama seems to switch between being black and bi-racial depending on the situation. Before the election Obama wrote a whole book about his black father he barely knew but barely mentioned his white mother, married a black woman and joined a racist black church. Obama shouldn't pull out the I'm 1/2 white and I can bridge the racial divide card whenever he pleases. He obviously abandoned that part of his identity a long time ago.

Why don't people just come out and admit what no one wants to say. Eggheads = the informed. That's why Obama is appealing to us, bc he treats us like adults. Clinton and McCain play off people's baser passions and instincts. Obama raises us up.
marymelech 3 years ago
Eggheads are the same people who brought us the '60s. The great society we are still trying to pay for, crime ridden projects that are now falling apart, and a civil rights agenda which caused the cities to riot and led to unprecedented racial strife. Excuse me if I don't want the country turned over again to a bunch of well intentioned but naive liberals.
armani11280 3 years ago
The civil rights agenda didn't cause riots, Jim Crow and white suppression did.
marymelech 3 years ago
No one can defend Jim Crow, but to say the way the civil rights agenda was implemented didn't lead to riots and racial strife is ridiculous. If Jim Crow caused them how do you explain the lack of riots between 1870-1960? It may be a shock to some liberals, but racism may not be blamed for all of our country's ills. Most white amercans are not inherently racist, and a good amount of racism that does exist is caused by the privileged liberal elites projecting their white guilt onto everyone.
armani11280 3 years ago
Um, there were race riots between 1870 and 1960., Atlanta 1906 and Tulsa 1921 to name two. But who's counting those because these riots occurred back in the good old days when minorities and women were kept in their places, right? Give me a break. BTW most liberals do not blame racism for all of the country's ills. We're the ones who understand that complex issues cannot be solved by simple solutions. It's lazy (and wrong) to blame the civil rights agenda for all that's wrong with America.
marymelech 3 years ago
Typical liberal distortion of the facts. Ok you named two between 1870-1960. Can you honestly tell me that you can find a 10 year period before the 60's and after the civil war where there was the same frequency of civil disorder and unrest in America as in between 1960-70. Discrimination will stop being a problem when the government quits discriminating based on race, but I suppose thats too simple of a solution for you. Excuse me for using common sense.
armani11280 3 years ago
Sorry, I didn't know you expected a book report on this subject. I only knew two race riots off the top of my head but I'm guessing there were more. And that's not common sense to believe race will stop being a problem when the government stops interfering. That's the exact opposite of common sense. It couldn't have been the history of race relations pre-dating the 1960's that inevitably led to these riots, could it? No, it's one decade that accounts for this srt of chaos. Ok....
marymelech 3 years ago
I don't expect a report, but if you want to make a blanket statement that white opression caused the racial stife and riots of the 60s back it up with facts. Otherwise keep your unsupported statements to yourself. Dont make a smartass comment to me because youre making points you cant support. Also remember desegregation began in the 50's. The violence didn't really begin until the govt ordered busing and outlawed private disc. The govt should remain neutral on race, in the 60s it took sides.
armani11280 3 years ago
Put succintly government enforced segregation was wrong, and in the 50's the govt was right to abolish it. However, enforced integration through busing, affirmative action, and anti discrimination statutes against private individuals is just as wrong as enforced segregation was.
armani11280 3 years ago
so government opposing segregation was wrong ?
papichulo9022 3 years ago
You must not have read or understood my earlier comments. I believe it was wrong for govt to pass laws that compelled segregation. Public schools and public institutions should have never been segregated. However, the govt is also wrong to compel integration through busing, affirmative action, empolyment, and anti-discrimination laws. Govt shouldnt act as thought police. If a black landlord doesn't want to rent to a white person why should he be forced to and vice versa with a white landlord.

I dare you to redo the Texas and California primary, you will pee yourself when you realize you and the clintons DO NOT OWN THE LATINO VOTE.

See why:

yes, and FOX News is fair and balanced, right?
CNN does not report on people who have no shot at all at winning a nomination, it's just business, Ron Paul equats to changing the channel. THATs what drive all news networks, ratings, don't fool yourself. there is no agenda other than making money.

Brazile tells bengala "you insult every black..." Can someone explain the logic. Then the double standard...latinos and working class whites are part of the old coalition...Its ok to insult working class whites and latinos but not blacks... thanks for telling us what new democratic coalition is all about.

Brazile is black, who do you expect her to defend first, the working class asian community?

Brazile is responding to Begala's claim that Obama's coalition is worthless. She never said that Hillary's coalition is worthless. You sorely missed the point.

Here Here..Donna!! and the woman host (forgot her name) is a traitorous wench!!
SlyBennett 3 years ago

John McClain racist pastor John Hagee.
atlassassin12 3 years ago
Does anyone else find it strange that Obama seems to switch between being black and bi-racial depending on the situation. Before the election Obama wrote a whole book about his black father he barely knew but barely mentioned his white mom, married a black woman and joined a racist black church. Obama shouldn't pull out the I'm 1/2 white and I can bridge the racial divide card whenever he pleases. He obviously abandoned that part of his identity a long time ago.
